Your secret revealed about the disney dining plan

We mainly used ours for iced tea (me) and coffee (DH). DH rarely drinks soda of any sort, especially when it is hot out. We still thought they were well worth it, and will be getting mugs again on our next trip.

Anyone know the story on refillable mugs at BWV:confused3
At POP, I know we filled them at the food court, and at POLY at the small rest. there(Captain Jacks??), but where at BWV since they have no small rest. or food court??

I know you can have a CM refill them for you at the BoardWalk Bakery.

DH & I are going in September because of the free DDP, can't pass up a great deal. We have never had the DDP. Here is where I'm confused :confused3, o.k. the older I get the more senior moments I have, don't you have to get your cs dessert at the place you eat, or you can save the dessert part for a snack and get it somewhere else?

eeyore45, hubby and I found that you can actually put bottles of alcohol in your checked bagage. normally we drive, but when we fly, you are allowed quite a bit of alcohol in your baggage. so we bring a bottle of whiskey, a bottle of rum, a bottle of vodka, then we buy the mugs. the frozen cokes at POP work very well with the rum,. a FANCY DRINK!! at just the price of a the same thing at the gin mill dowm the street from your house!

Okay, smidgy, explain in detail how you transport alcohol. How do you protect the bottles in the suitcase? How much alcohol can you bring (do you have airline guidelines?) You are my new favorite person!

Smidy - that is the best idea I have heard in a long time!!!! I had no idea you could do that. Thanks!!!

With a SC, can you only get one item or up to $4 worth?

Buy the plastic bottles of vodka and rum. I don't know of a whiskey that comes in a plastic bottle but I've seen the rum and vodka. Then you just pack them like normal. I've bubble wrapped them and then sealed them in one of those giant ziploc bags, just in case they crack or break, when I checked my luggage last time I went on a cruise and it made it safe and sound. I don't know the guidelines as to how much you can bring on an airplane but I'm sure the websites for the airlines can give some sort of idea.

Oh and I know that you can't bring Bacardi 151 on a plane, it's too high a proof so it's considered flammable.

That's what a CM told me the last time I was there. The value of a snack has to be $4 and under. There's a great list that's stickied on the DDP board.

DEFINITELY flammable!!! I went to the Melting Pot and they flambeed our chocolate fondue with Bacardi 151.

We were told more than once that only one item up to $4.00. In other words we could not get a donut and a cup of coffee. You also can not get food items that would be considered a meal, like a hot dog.

An answer to Jill Schwartz---milk and juice usually are not included in the refillable mugs. You can fill them with coffee, hot chocolate, sodas, tea, and lemonade. At the Poly, they do have small containers of milk and juice for purchase at Captain Cook's.

do they use nescafe??? I hate that coffee:crazy2: I like my coffee strong...

We shared a lot of the CS meals, because so many of them are just too much food for one person. A half chicken at Tusker House or a pizza & salad at the Toy Story arcade makes a great lunch for two, and your CS credits go twice as far.

I'm really looking forward to the next trip, now that I've found the DIS. Armed with the updated snack list sticky, I plan to drink myself into a caffeine overdose on all those snack credit cappuchinos. :yay:

Yes the pizza and salad at the Toy Story arcade goes very far. We got a lot more food than we needed that day!! But it was a learning experience and we won't order as much next trip and save a couple of CS credits.

A hot dog as a meal?:rotfl:

--"I am so fat I will eat a whole package of hot dogs and then drink the hot dog water! Hey barkeep! Give me a hot dog water on the rocks!!" -- paraphrased from some stand up comic I saw.

You seriously cannot use a SC for a hotdog? We were planning on egg rolls with our SC?!?!?!?

1. DISclaimer - I've only read pg 9 - - but when we were at Poly - we did get 2 mugs for the 3 of us - and one mug was the designated "coffee" mug (that coffee smell leeches into plastic - trust me!)

We solved this problem with those Palmolive dish cloths that have the dish soap already in them. I cut them into 4ths (they hold a lot of soap) and I can wash all 4 of our cups with one of the pieces. It works great and no worry about spillage in my suitcase.
I also found them at the $1.00 store so I got a couple of boxes.
:cutie:

On our last trip, we were perhaps stingier than need be with the snack credits ( I did not want to waste one on water and paid for that) and had 5 or 6 left at the end of the trip. I bought the jumbo size bags of doritos (2), cheese puffs, a box of donuts ( a dozen) some candy etc for the drive home. It actually lasted most of the next week at home. I will know how to dole them out a little better the next time around, but will try to save 1 or 2 for the car trip.

I brought some disposable cups w/ lids and I poured the coffee from my refillable mug in it. Then I could drink my second cup of coffee on the bus ride to the park. I am a HUGE coffee drinker. The coffee was not good but I HAD to have it. I thankfully packed flavored creamer. It helped.

I think the best tip was the Goofy's Candy Shop for the SC. We loved going there. My kids had so much fun and the treats were great but the best part was using the SC to pay.
