I read on Tikiman's page that most second floor hotel rooms do not have balconies. Will all the DVC studios have a balcony?

Mixed reports, if the room does have a balcony, it is only about 3 feet deep.

:earsboy: Bill

When we did the tour in February, the models had a balcony. Pretty huge actually.

I did ask when we took the tour and was told "Yes, they all have a balcony". But, I was also told they were connecting rooms. I just spent $20,000 on this and will be furious if I ever get a room without a balcony! Why would they ever make a resort like that? When your kids are asleep in the same room with you, you need a balcony. We put the kids to bed and spend some quiet time alone on the balcony. Tell me ALL the rooms have a balcony!!!!

I believe you read the same thing I did which is that not all the Poly HOTEL rooms have balconies. DVC took over the 3 longhouses which were the expansion of the Poly resort (in the late 70s early 80s). These longhouses all have balconies (or patios if on 1st floor) and are slightly larger rooms than the original longhouses (some of the rooms in those original longhouses do not have balconies).
Tikimanpages lists the DVC longhouse descriptions under DVC not under the regular hotel longhouse descriptions and all 3 days balconies on 2 and 3 rd floors

:thanks: That is just what I needed to hear!

I was on the phone with Member Services after booking a DVC Studio at the Polynesian. I made a room request for a balcony which means I want 2nd or 3rd floor. The Cast member said there is no reason to put that request on my reservation because ALL DVC Polynesian studios have balconies! I said well the first floor rooms do not have balconies, at least they did not have them before the remodel to DVC. The first floor rooms have patios, I said. She said again that ALL of them have balconies and she will not note it on the reservation because it is unnecessary. So eithetr one of two things have happened. Either they removed the 1st floor patios and built 1st floor balconies there, which is highly unlikely, or...she is wrong and actually giving out terrible information.

If we check in and do not get a balcony I will be very upset.

By the way I called back and spoke with someone else and they added my request to the reservation.

I think I would request high floor if I were you. Many DVC villas have patios on the first floor (i.e., those with ground level first floors).

Common sense says request 2nd or 3rd floor. Seems like the first rep does not understand difference between a patio and balcony.

No matter if the rep understood or not DVC room requests are just that a request. There is no gtd. it has been my experience that they make a reasonable attempt to satisfy request BUT you could end up with first floor upset or not.

Simmer down now (for you SNL fans..)

Yes they all have balconies or patios.... :-)

Before you get furious, I believe all DVC rooms on property have a balcony for upper floors, not that poly has any 1 or 2 bedroom villas, but those will have at least 1 room of the villa with a balcony.

A good chance many of the DVC board viewers/posters are probably owners, doesn't matter if you spent 20k or 50k, It is on you to know what you paid for. The original buildings built 40+ years ago do not have 2nd floor balconies, but that has nothing to do with DVC buildings.
