Will a 9 year old like the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?

My daughter just asked last night if she (11) and my niece (11) would be able to do BBB. I hadn't even thought about it. They are not that into Princesses. My niece has never been able to go so I'll try to make reservations for them in October.

I would ask her or her parents what they think, but my DD did it at 8 and this past trip at 12(for her last chance), and loved it both times. The first time I surprised her because I knew she was interested, and the second she requested it. She is also a tomboy and not into makeup except for special dances, etc, but it really is a cool experience. There are 3 different hairstyles to choose from, and this trip DD got the one where they weave a colored pieces into your hair(she did blue to match her dress), which a lot of kids are into right now. The basic package for hair, nails and makeup isn't bad(about $55) and she can bring her own dress/outfit if she's into that. DD brought a modern, short Cinderella dress we found in the teen/adult section(she is very tall for her age) of the Halloween store for 1/2 price the day after, and it was perfect for a tween doing this, and we did 1900 PF Cinderella dinner after. We did brft at CRT the first time, and I would give it 2 hrs. or so in between, as makeover takes about an hr., and they can be behind, and the the little photo shoot across the way takes about 10 minutes. If you want to try and do it, I would get reservations as soon as possible, at 180 days if you are not past that, because they are both tough to get, especially to do both, as you have to make them separately. (You can always cancel them if you change your mind, but do have to pay upfront for CRT, and will get a refund if you cancel before 48hrs).

Also, if she is not into that, they have the pirate/mermaid makeover next to POC ride. DD did the mermaid one when she was 10, and they also do girl pirates. It's cute, you get a pirate name, and take an oath, and the setting is cool. It was around $40, and you also need a reservation. She will probably try the pirate next time, which you can do at any age. DD also did Jedi training at 8 (with her Princess hair still up!) and liked it. She originally wanted to do it again this trip for her last chance, especially since she just got into SW, but decided not to at the last minute, but we did meet Vadar and Chewy! I will try to upload some pics later if I can resize them!

My dd had it done at 3,6&8 years. Last summer when she was 9 didn't want to do it when I asked her before our trip. Of course when we were at WdW she wanted to do it but without the orincess dress. Luckily therr was space availabe at DTD and she still loved it.

Are you hoping to surprise her or would you be open to asking her whether or not she would like it? My DD did BBB at 6 and enjoyed it, but she is just shy of 8 and has lost interest in princesses and would rather try Jedi Training Academy for our next trip. I could see it being disappointing if you set it up and then she doesn't want to do it, so maybe try and get a sense from her and/or her parents on whether she'd like it!

Yes, it would be a surprise, so I don't want to ask her. Her mom says she thinks she'd like it, but I'll probably try to talk to her more about it before I have to make reservations next month!

Okay, so it seems like the common thread in most of the replies is that kids were interested in doing it on trips when they younger, but not when they got a little older. I wonder if it's different for her because this will be her first time ever going to a Disney park. I'll try to talk to her mom some more and mention the Pirate's League and Jedi Academy as alternatives. Thanks!

This is not something I would surprise a 9-year-old (or anyone else) with unless you are completely fine if she says she isn't interested and you end up losing all of that money.
