Will a 9 year old like the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?

It has been a loooooong time since I was 9 and I don't have any kids, but my husband and I are taking our niece to Disney World later this year and are thinking about making a reservation at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique followed by breakfast at CRT. I haven't actually been around her since she was 5, so I'm honestly not sure if it's something she'd like. Are 9 year olds into this kind of thing? Or have most 9 year old girls outgrown the princess dress up?

My niece just went for her 10th birthday. She has been before when she was 6 and loved it!

I would say this time she still enjoyed it, but it wasn't the same as when she was 6...then again, she had already experienced it and knew what it was all about. She wanted to go before the trip and I think she liked the idea of it all.

I would say to do it. It takes some time and isn't cheap, but she will love the attention. Both times I made sure to have a reservation at CRT after BBB and then get some FP's with the princesses at the meet and greet that's right there as well.

BBB is for 12 and under, so it's her last chance unless she heads back in the next couple of years when she is older and maybe less interested.

She's never been so I hope she'll enjoy it! How long do you usually book CRT after BBB? I have to start making reservations soon!

It depends on the kid. We have friends whose 9 yo has gone several times and loves it. Our DD5 and DD6 loved it last year. My older is now 7 and while she still wants to do it, is finding ways to make it more about a make over and less about princesses. She is taking a dressier sun dress to wear that day instead of a princess dress and she wants the colored hair style rather than the traditional princess bun. I wouldn't buy the full up princess dress package unless you know she would like it but if she's into hair and make up, she'll likely enjoy herself.

I think I had BBB at 11 or so and then CRT at 1:30 or so? There was plenty of time.

We did the photo shoot after BBB and then got pics with Cinderella and Rapunzel since the line was short. We had FP's, but decided to use them on something else since we had time.

The first time we rode It's a Small World, but it was a bit rainy this trip.

Are you hoping to surprise her or would you be open to asking her whether or not she would like it? My DD did BBB at 6 and enjoyed it, but she is just shy of 8 and has lost interest in princesses and would rather try Jedi Training Academy for our next trip. I could see it being disappointing if you set it up and then she doesn't want to do it, so maybe try and get a sense from her and/or her parents on whether she'd like it!

You really need to know the kid. My 8 year old daughter would DESPISE it.
And that's a lot of money and time to spend if a kid would hate it.

When my daughter was that age she took one look at the pictures and said, "Please don't make me do that."

My advice: ask your niece.

My niece was 9 when we did an extended family trip. She had absolutely no interest in this, or anything princess related. It really depends on her personality and interests. Can you ask her?

I would just ask her, if you're unsure. If she likes princesses, hair, make up etc... then I'm sure she'd like it. But, if not, then no, probably not. FWIW, my son really enjoyed it and he was 8. We did the knight package for him and the princess for his sister. But he loves costumes, acting etc... and especially loved being given a sword, lol.

Definitely ask her. My daughter loved it at ages 4 and 6. But she had no interest in it after that and she is 9 now.

Agree, definitely ask. Oddly, my DD wasn't interested in it, until she was older, like 10. Then she was sad she couldn't go after she turned 12. Oh, and even at 10, no princess or costume, just nice sundress and sandals worked fine with the hair and make up.

You should ask her. My DD just turned 10. She still really likes the Princesses although most of her friends gave them up around age 6. She loved the BBB when she was in the 3-6 range. I think she was 7 the last time she did it and although I know older girls sometimes do it she was the oldest girl in there at the time. At age 8, she initially wanted to book it, but then before our trip decided she was too old for it and told me to go ahead and cancel it. At age 9, when I asked her, she said no way. Now, she still absolutely LOVES CRT. So, I would say definitely book the meal, but ask before you send her to be turned into a Princess. I don't know if the trip is a surprise or how far into your trip you are planning this day, but you could always book BBB and then if she does not want to do it, you just have to cancel at least 24 hours in advance to avoid the cancellation fee.

I would also highly encourage you to ask her or her parents. My daughter (who was 4 in the picture that is my avatar) was ALL about the princesses on our first trip. Wore a different costume into the park each day - wanted nothing more than to be a princess growing up. I had heard that other girls quickly grew out of princesses, but I thought, no way, not my girl. Then something happened when she started kindergarten and it seemed like everything changed overnight. She's 9 now and you couldn't pay her to go into BBB now. Honestly, it makes me a little weepy to think about how my little princess is no more. (Maybe she'll get back into it when she's older - who knows.)

On our next trip, I wouldn't be surprised if she also prefers Jedi Training Academy. And I'm certainly going to get her a reservation there, if that's what she and her brothers want to do! :thumbsup2

I'm sure there are plenty of girls that would still like it at age 9 - but when I think about my daughter's friends, I honestly can't think of one that would want a princess makeover. And for the price of that updo, I'd want to know for sure that she would want it. You're an awesome aunt to be taking her and treating her to this amazing trip!!

Yep, no way to know without knowing the child.
DGD turned 8 a few days ago. She loves BBB and wants to do it every trip.
Some of her friends hate it and have never wanted it done.
Funny thing is, DGD is not particularly girly, nor is she a tomboy. She's equally comfortable doing sports and playing dress up.
So it's just impossible to guess what they'd enjoy.

I would make sure first that she wants to do it. Its just a lot of money for her not to be excited about it. I am 27 and I would do it if they had one for adults! lol

Another vote for checking with your niece (or her parents) first. My niece did BBB at age 5 and then again at age 7 and really enjoyed it! After that, it was a big "no." In her world, "princesses are for babies." (Makes me sad!) She still LOVES going to Disney World though, particularly enjoys the planning and gets caught up in the magic once she gets there. She is now 11 and wants to wear Disney t-shirts and/or Mickey or Minnie t-shirts while at the parks, but NO princesses. Her favorite things at age 9-10 were: horseback riding at Ft. Wilderness, eating at Chefs de France, bowling at Downtown Disney, Wishes Dessert Party, Phineas/Ferb interactive game at EPCOT, swimming time at the hotel pool, fireworks shows and parades, and shopping in the gift stores. She still likes doing meet and greets, but not if they take too much time (doesn't like waiting in lines). She didn't like the Star Wars movies (her older sister is a HUGE fan), so no Jedi Training Academy for her.

I hope you have a wonderful trip!
