Why is shopping DVC resale contracts so addictive?

I've been subscribed to several email listings, and confess to looking at them every day. My wife is convinced I can "time" the market, buying a "Cinderella" contract at the lowest price over a six month period. I don't think that's true, but I have had good success in identifying underpriced listings and then justifying to the wife why we need another block of points.

I'm glad that site is filtered out to keep it a secret lol. It's much better than dvcforless, especially for us analytic types.
Just curious what data do you use from there?

To me, straight data and less scrolling/fluff is easier on my eyes! Also, dvcforless does not recognize subsidized contracts.
Oh nice. It lists Aulani Sub on there?

That is the real bonus and knowledge we get out of being so addicted.

Must be different than the one I thought it was because it doesnt filter subsidized.

I candidly think that people whose brains suffer from a lack of dopamine are drawn to things that provide a steady stream of intense dopamine hits.

1) Researching the resorts!
2) Learning the market!
3) Watching the aggregators and waiting for the perfect contract!
4) Making lots of lowball offers and trying to get a steal of a deal!

It’s all one big stream of dopamine hits!
I 2nd this! Love the dopamine hits lol

No it doesn't filter AUL sub. That's why i thought it was a new feature, but it doesn't, only filters for OKW (extended) and VB sub.
Okay thanks, I was wondering why I absolutely could not find a site that filters it out.

For me it's the same behavior I apply to all purchases over a certain threshold. Deep research to understand the product, market, and conditions. Consider pros and cons of each available offering. That much effort put into buying a small resale contract has made me a knowledgeable person on a topic most humans don't even know exists.

Actually, i see a trend. My job, after over 20 years, has provided me with deep knowledge of subject most people don't know or frankly care about. I am not very marketable!

Hoping early retirement cures me of the illness! I still have direct Poly on the radar but I can be watchful and patient.

Pretty sure I found the non-fluff. I may need the fluff, that is a lot of numbers. Lol.

I think I check there more than any other site.
That site and Delta...I am probably checking those two about 20+ times a day easy..

The rush comes in a lot of different forms with DVC. Looking at the aggregators. Making offers even if they're 99.9% likely to be rejected just to have the rush of that email back. Checking the DVC website under 7 months to see what's available even though you wouldn't change your reservation because it's perfect anyway. Then once you're at 60 days a whole new dopamine rush of playing around with ADR's and what not. Disney may make a lot of questionable business choices these days but they've also set it up to suck people into their vortex of magic and happiness and once you're in...like the mob...you only get out one way!

…It was early morn, and looking out the window was the hunter, sipping slowly on their strong coffee.
Their steely gaze betrays the inner focus, the ambition, no, the belief that today will be the day that the big one will land.
The strategy and counter strategy had long been perfected and the phone alert had triggered a higher state of consciousness
The ultimate contract had arrived, loaded, ideal UY, and 2 texts later news that a previous buyer had pulled out and they are likely open to bids to quickly start the sale again

The hunter smiled and the heart rate raised a few bpm

Have they found their prey at last?
Their mind wanders, thinking of Ahab and the rare white whale, will their thirst be satisfied if this one lands? thoughts of that are quickly shut down and the cold eyes return.

They smile, ready to submit the bid….they think of how their partner and family will react and how many likes they’ll get on the ROFR thread, no thoughts of rejection are entertained.

Today has already been a great day.

Just a heads up - price reduction visualizations are coming to dvcforless.com next week. This is in addition to a number of other features including a normalization of statuses. This sets us up to quickly deliver filtering for Aulani subsidized dues and guaranteed week listings shortly thereafter.

We also have some really fun data visualization pages coming out shortly that I hope are gonna hit those dopamine receptors with force!

Amazing

The thrill of getting a great deal or deep value is hard to ignore. Something about it just makes people who like to hunt for deals very happy. Not sure if it’s going to survive the filter but be careful of slickdeals.net. No for timeshares but I’ve purchased everything from ramen to clothes to epic deals on flights from posts on there over the past decade. Most memorable is likely the round trip flights from Las Vegas to Auckland NZ for 219 a person.

That site used to be my jam. I’m not on it as much as I used to be because it’s so hard to resist cheap stuff I do not need. I have scored some amazing deals though. My husbands workshop full of tools were all steal of deals from watching the site. Brickseek.com not being as great as it once was also is why I stopped my in store deal hunts.
