Where the Heck are the Vegetables?

I so agree with you. I've found myself sometimes ordering the veggie meal, just because I miss eating vegetables at WDW. I could get on my soapbox about the American diet, and how people need to eat more vegetables (I just finished a 1 year program on avoiding diabetes), but I'll TRY not to. But ordering a veggie meal occasionally helps me.
I'd be interested in that discussion... (it may need to be in the controversial section tho) I may be part of that problem. ;)

Let me complain about New Cake Bake Shop …
Party of 6
3 wanted Basic Quiche 2 are vegetarian
They are not serving this at dinner
So I had cup of tomato soup with chicken broth base
Daughter had broccoli
Granddaughter had children’s Mac cheese she’s 15

Somehow the bill was still $395 including tip No discounts allowed cause it was Xmas eve

I had to beg them to use my $100 gift certificate they gave me for bday in November …what am I gonna order $100 of Soup!?
Not going back there ever!
But our server Eman was excellent

If you go request to sit in Bar area Looks like fun !
I had to go look at their menus. Their prices are crazy. I would never eat there.

The dinner menu at Cake Bake is not elegant or complex- soup, salad and over priced sandwiches mainly. So why not quiche? The kitchen is not stressing over difficult dishes 🤣 What I don't understand is this:
So I had cup of tomato soup with chicken broth base

Granddaughter had children’s Mac cheese she’s 15

Three out of six diners did not even have anything close to a meal... I don't understand why you would stay?

I like my veggies too. In my trip in November I ended up ordering salads with chicken on/in them at multiple QS locations. The ones in HS really surprised me- tons of crispy veg and plenty of good protein from a generous serving of chicken. I’m already planning to repeat them on my next trip. Satuli Canteen is pretty reliable as well. Anything at MK seems to be devoid of veg, so I have resigned myself to that on the days I’m there. We shall pretend corn dog nuggets are part of the vegetable kingdom. 🤪 Epcot has plenty of QS options with good veg as well, if you are open to salads and doing a little combing through menus. It’s frustrating to have to work so hard to eat some plants, but WDW definitely caters to the tastes of the majority of visitors, so I understand why it is the way it is, even if I don’t love it.

You sound like my kids. After 2 days at the theme parks in Orlando they are always asking where the fruits and vegetables are. We try to substitute with grocery delivery. If we do have a sit down, buffets are nice so the kids can figuratively, go ham, on the veggie sides and they usually grab a huge bowl of whatever melon mix there is.

Some of the larger quick service spots, that are not burger based, will have a salad based main or have one side of either a veg or salad to be purchased. So it's worth perusing menus but yeah, overall, agreed.

I have learned my lesson. I will take more time scouring Disney menus for healthy options before we go on our next Disney adventure.

GF QS has a great customized salad option
100% this is my new secret(not secret) location for QS healthy. Grilled chicken on lettuce and veggies and no dressing (yes I'm weird I can eat salads with no dressing) is my new go to anytime I'm in the MK area.

As for veggies OP I agree. I've recently changed my diet and become very restrictive in what I eat. I load myself up with veggies to bulk up my meals and not have to eat as much meat and carbs. DVC really helps with this as I now do a lot more grocery trips whereas in the past we would eat every meal on campus. I've actually found the AYCTE sit downs not a bad option because they seem to always have a lot of vegetables that I can keep going back up for to load up on. For instance at Boma I eat basically the salmon and all the veggies. Problem is they load it up with oil and salt...also what I avoid overdoing but alas if that's the worst of it on a vacation then so be it. It does still hurt passing the prime rib and mac n cheese and desserts and thinking about how that's basically ALL I would load my plate with in years past!

Have you asked if you can get servings of the veggies without oil and salt due to dietary needs at the AYCTEs? They accommodate allergies so it might be possible.

Unless you want a little splurge in which case there is nothing to see here...

"splurge" is a funny word for vegetables but honestly yes lol. I really do eat a load of salmon and veggies these days. If I'm hitting up carbs they have to be whole grain or just fiber filled. I'll mix in some grilled chicken as well. Lots of things like avocados and beans and what not. Disney really is very good about modifying so this next trip I'll be asking them to help me out. In the past I've loved places like Woodys round up rodeo as I've hit the mac n cheese and sausage and brisket and ribs hard. We have a res there next month and I'm already thinking about how I'm going to pay to eat 60 dollars worth of tomato and watermelon salad...maybe some of the chicken breast...oh yay what fun lol
