I need to sell my beloved Dept 56 collection. I mut have about 100-200 pieces between the buildings and accessories but I do not have the time to list each one on Ebay.

Does anyone know of a dealer who might want to purchase the entire collection or any other ideas?

Thanks - Diane:sad1:

I'm not sure how popular these pieces would be now that the holidays are over, but Ebay would definitely be your best bet to reach the most customers. However, if you don't want to go that route, you might try advertising locally in your newspaper; or talking to an auction house. Since you have so many pieces, an auction house might do a special auction for you to bring in more people.

Craigslist is pretty easy to use!

I am a lover of Dept 56 (NE Village series), but I purchase all mine at auction houses. Please be aware that you won't get great money for them. On average, I've paid between 5 and $10 per house (mint in boxes!). Even for retired pieces. Then off that total, as the seller, you need to pay the auction house about 20% of the sale price. Its shockingly inexpensive compared to what they retail for. Your probably better off sellling them in lots of 5 or 10 pieces on e-bay with a reserve, even though it is a pain in the neck! When I sold some pieces last year, I put them out in my yardsale and advertised them. Someone came and bought the whole lot for $200, which was more than I would have got online or at auction given the pieces.

Best of luck! :)

I know you said not Ebay, but really that is where I would start.

About 5 years ago my mom asked me to put 99% of her Dept 56 pieces on Ebay. (she kept her favorites). She has A LOT of houses, I don't even remember how many she had anymore.

But I will tell you I listed each house seperately and when all was said and done she made right between $7,000 and $8,000!!!

She was nice enough to use that money and take me and my family to Disney World with her ;) It was a lot of work listing and packing up all those houses, but it was worth it in the end.

I highly suggest Ebay to sell items like that, epsecially if you have any rare pieces like my mom did.

list it online on craigslist or go to a store like "sold it on ebay" where they list it all for you and just give you the check.

Are you talking Dept 56 Snow Village???

I recently listed a bunch of pieces for a relative of mine on craigslist and they did not do well at all. I think she sold 3 or 4 pieces. I think that ebay would be a much better way to go. I would look into a sellers assistant to help you list them if you do not have the time.

A friend of mine belongs to a local Dept 56 club. They meet to swap pieces and they take turns hosting parties during the holidays to view each other's collections. Perhaps you could find out if there is a Dept 56 club in your area and if any of the members would be interested in buying your pieces.
