When did MagicBands go out if style?

DH and I both have apple watches, so we just use that to scan into parks/lightning lanes and I use my phone to get in the room. I don't like wearing a watch and a MB. I usually keep one old MB in my bag in case the phone doesn't work, and DH takes the MB to get into the gym.

We bought our last MB+s for awhile. Two out of the three stopped working with lighting up. We talked with a cast member, at the front desk of our resort, when my DD21’s stopped working and she replaced it. Shortly after mine stopped working (lighting up only), I didn’t get it replaced, but I probably should have. Since the bands work for everything else, we’ll just use them moving forward - they aren’t cheap and I’m tired of paying for them. The only way I’ll get a new one is if there’s a fun PotC one, outside of that I’ll just use the old ones.

The more stuff we can do on phones, will likely mean, the less people using/buying bands. I love my MBs though. Got a new Boba Fett one this year, and just used it in Aulani.
My phone is often near death by midday, day's end, etc. and while I have a fuel rod/charge, etc. I sure wouldnt' want to only depend on my phone for getting in the room. But a card would do fine too.
We'll use our MBs as long as they keep working.

I think the higher price of new MB plus the fact some features can be handled on your phone makes a difference as others have mentioned. We have older free MB from a prior trip and would certainly use those next time we go to Disney vs paying $50+ for a new one. The features that don't require a battery will continue to work no matter how old they are. I don't really care what others choose to do and we don't have Apple phones. I recall some older threads where some people had issues with MB falling off but that was never our experience, so perhaps it depends more on personal preference.

I have several old (pre-covid MBs). I only wear them on days when I have LL booked, which is not every day. I use them for park entry and opening a disney resort door if I am on property, otherwise it is in my bag. I don't do room charges with them, don't care about ride photos, and they can be sweaty.

I love using my MB, I have an Expedition Everest (2018/19) that I just used again in July! The only issue that I have with phones being used for tap points (park entrance LL's, etc.) is the groups where one person seems to manage all of the tickets and creates a log jam at the tap points because they can't sem to keep things straight on who has which ticket in the app, only find it annoying when the whole group is crowded around the tap point and blocks acess for everyone else, even as the CM instructs the group to move to the side so others can proceed (slightly annoying but not day wrecking either) :)
I did a solo trip in July (4 days) while my wife had a conference in Tampa, I witnessed the above situation on at least 8 occassions, none of them the same group! Otherwise the trip was fantastic, different going solo but still had a blast!

I have the newer MB+ but I honestly hate having to "worry" about charging it each night. I already have enough to charge with phones and battery banks. I typically just use my non + MBs. I prob will just use my watch and keep a MB for entering the room or pool time.
We hated the newer MB plus bands and went back to using our old ones. Charging them is a pain.
