What perk would you want to see added?

Can you please show where that is a requirement of the coverage? I'd like to see it in writing and the exact verbiage. I'm not doubting you, but you are stating it as fact, so obviously you know it exists and have read it.
As a landlord myself, I can tell you that my policy on my rentals requires periodic inspections. And this is for one year leases. Knowing that the hotel was sued for not inspecting the rooms daily and reporting the weapons, and knowing Mandalay Bay had an $800 Million settlement, you can bet insurance companies have such a clause for hotels to limit their liability.

Remember that many. many locals, especially vloggers, are in the parks every day. So local annual passholders have a commitment, as well.
Plus there are ZERO perks for Disney Stockholders, who DO actually "Own a Piece of the Magic."

And overall, DVC Members still make up a relatively small percentage of overall WDW visitors. And, our visits are likely not going to increase because of a ticket discount...many of us already have either the full AP or the Sorcerer pass. I, for one, had an AP long before there was any discount...of course they were cheaper back then...but still.

If DVC thought it would make a big difference in direct sales, they'd probably negotiate a better deal, OR they may have a purchase incentive just for new purchasers, like free or heavily discounted admission for a limited number of years, like those of us that got free admission for 8 or 9 years in the early days.
Okay, I didn't say take anything away from locals. And if they are locals they can pop in, ride some rides, etc. and go home without spending a dime. They aren't necessarily netting much from all of these locals anyway. My question was why not give at least those options, if not more/ better options to DVC members who spend big money on the contracts, have to pay to travel, have committed to help pay for the operations and upkeep via their dues, and are a captive audience while on site.

If DVC members are such a small percentage of visitors, then it should be easier for them be able to make that happen as well. And if they want to keep making DVC properties like they are they may need to tempt new buyers.

As far as stockholders being more "owners" than DVC members lol, it takes less than $100 to buy a share of Disney stock today, less than adding a day onto a ticket. And that stock is expected to rise in value with the company and be able to be sold later and hopefully never worthless. I don't think that is nearly the same as buying into a DVC contract which is much more expensive, requires you to visit Disney properties and spend money, and after expiration is worth $0. Being a stockholder shouldn't get any benefits, its too easy and cheap to become a shareholder.

First off, who is talking about one souvenir share of stock? What about those that have several hundred to several thousand? We used to get discounts via the Magic Kingdom Club, which was discontinued.
And it remains, DVCers have no actual stake in the company, like stockholders. If the company folds, stockholders are out money, DVCers will still have their deeded resorts, operating under a different company like Marriott or Hilton.

Locals kept Disney operating after 9/11, more so than DVCers, many of whom were terrified to travel for a while. Remember, Disney had to halt construction on Pop Century for a couple years, and they didn't finish and rechristen the other half of the resort to Art of Animation until 10 years later because of the downturn in domestic tourism..

The lounges are designed to make a statement in the parks, getting people interested, having non-members see perceived benefits. Basically, they are subliminal marketing. Sodas and snacks don't cost much, but they are a nice respite from the heat and crowds. and the locations would be otherwise unused or non-profitable for Disney. This way the space is rented by DVD/DVC Marketing. If the shooting gallery were profitable, it would not have been removed. If the 2nd floor of the Imagination Pavilion wasn't converted to a lounge, it would be still sitting there deteriorating, or used for office space, as neat as the rainbow walkway used to be.

Would additional DVC perks be nice...sure....absolutely. I can think of a couple perk expansions I'd like for MMB, like extending the PhotoPass benefit to include Annual Passholders for the length of their pass, or at least a discount. Also ticket discounts for those staying in your room, or a "Traveling With" room, whether living in the same household or not. But they are not owed to us. And the bottom line is still, unless DVD thinks such perks will boost direct sales, don't expect to ever see them.

You are the one who brought up stockholders. And it doesn't matter how many shares they own, in my opinion they should get less than DVC owners or nothing at all. The ONLY reason to buy a stock is because you think it will make you money. You may like the company, but you expect it to make you money, otherwise you wouldn't buy it. The expectation is it makes you, the purchaser money. Any company/stock can go south. But you wouldn't be buying a stock if you thought it was on the way out.

Compare that with DVC. Buying an expensive contract, which makes you committed to going to Disney locations and spending money at Disney establishments. And the expected value after every contract expires is $0.

If you buy stock, you are trying to make yourself money. If you buy DVC you are giving/committing to give money to DVC, and are in fact "losing" money when it expires worthless. DVC clearly should get better perks than shareholders.

Lounges are ok. But getting chips and a soda (pending availability/capacity) is barely anything lol. We have been using the Sorcerer's pass, which is better than nothing.

And lastly I am not sure why you keep bringing up locals like I am trying to get Disney to take something away from them. Like I said I am not wanting less options for locals. I understand that they can be a useful audience during slow/scary times. I just would like to see more options and perks for DVC members who are giving up a lot and supporting Disney even if it is not in their neck of the woods.

I think having FL resident deals puts them in line with many other entertainment places in Florida and I’m not sure DVC falls into the same bracket.

There are a lot of cash guests out there who go regularly and probably spend just as much, if not more, in some cases, as DVC owners, staying cash guests. They don’t get any level of loyalty.

So, I think aside from FL residents, Disney offers deals when they need them

Honestly, I just hope that they never discontinue giving DVC owners the Sorcerer Pass..

I just don't feel like we should feel "entitled" to any perks. I enjoy them, sure, and I can can think of some I'd like. But I'm also grateful for the ones we have, when we really aren't entitled to any just because we bought a timeshare.

You may not think much of sodas and chips, and a comfortable place to relax out of the heat and crowds, but to many non-members, it is something they'd at least want to get info about...again, perceptions and marketing. It is a VISIBLE perk to non-members. Just like the purple Welcome Home when you scan into a park, and the Midnight Magic events when non-members see members entering the parks for a private event.

I hope so too, it's the one nice option we have!

I mean I don't think they have to offer extra perks, just that it would be nice and make sense to reward the loyal visitors and entice new buyers.

I guess I better start going to the lounges and getting a lot of soda and chips! lol

No offense, but aren't most of the recent PP's off-topic?

I mean, the thread title is "What perk would you want to see added?", not "Why wouldn't certain perks benefit DVD?" or "Why shouldn't we expect any new perks?"???

I think it’s good knowledge and part of the discussion because let’s be honest, don’t you think it’s important to at least keep it in the realm of being at all possible?

I guess I disagree. Anyone who has been on these boards for any decent amount of time knows that Disney will only generally do things that will help Disney's bottom line. We don't need other posters constantly reminding us of that.

That is fair as is the notion that us being DVC doesnt mean we are any more or less important of a Disney guest, simply because we invested in jt.

So, to everyone’s let’s get back to just things you would like to see DVC add as perks with those two givens in mind!
