Anyone sign up when prompted "We'd like to send you push notifications!" I noticed Dis is also doing it...

Where do the notifications end up? Email? Just in your browser?

If you do/did, are you glad you did? Do you wish you hadn't?

Does DISboards have an app? I belong to a neighborhood Freecycle type group. When someone replies to my posts or tags me in one of their posts I am sent a notification on the app. (One could also choose email and/or text messages.) The app checks for notifications every 10 minutes or so which are then "pushed" along to the proper parties.

Push notifications from any website are a total NO from me, if there is an option to reject them. Most of them are delivered to either e-mail or text numbers. I can't be bothered with all the bings and boops for things I could care less about. (I have to keep my ringer on for work.)

I believe in your user profile you have the option to set how you want various notification to be sent. I have all of mine turned OFF, I don't need an email/text/etc. every time someone posts a new thread or comments on something..............don't care and certainly don't need to be connected 24/7.

Same here, turned off. I don't need more junk than I already get
I think those are different notifications. And I'm not just referring to the Dis. Multiple websites I go to have a pop up asking if I want push notifications. I just wondering if anyone signed up for them. I'm too chicken to click the links to sign up. Lol

I dont' use push notifications for anything on my phone, except maybe when I"m at Disney, and allow MDE to send them, like if my VQ has been called, or similar. However, I must've signed up for them for my son's school/grading systems, because this year, I keep getting them every time a teacher inputs a grade. I need to turn that off.
I don't want any notifications from apps, forums, sites, etc. on my phone, or cluttering up email or buzzing on my phone.

This page explains web push notifications and shows examples of how they look on various browsers on various OS.

In Chrome they show up on the bottom right of the browser. I assume somewhere similar in other browsers.

And here is a youtube video that shows a web push notification in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Aw hell no! Thanks for the explanation. Still curious if anyone is using them for any website and if they're happy with them.

I always say no to web push notifications.

Even on my phone I have most notifications turned off. About the only ones I leave turned on are travel related and I find knowing that my gate has changed is valuable.

Pretty much how I feel. If I want to see if you have something new on your website, I will look. Just like I don't subscribe to anything on YouTube or sign up for new content alerts.

I get push notifications if my car is unlocked, every 30 minutes until I lock it. They just show up on the phone Lock Screen, not email or text. Same for Uber or Lyft when I am using it; airlines when I am flying
