We’ve Arrived at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point!

Are there float rentals?

I know it sounds silly but without them I won't even go through the hassle of getting off the ship. We are semi locked into a late Sept sailing (can move cruise but flights, hotel, and travel insurance are locked in). Im trying to tell myself at least I can layout on a nice raft in beautiful water like at CC...
There aren’t float rentals. I believe it has to do with the environmental impacts of the plastic. It’s not listed on the app and only snorkeling equipment was available for rent.

Thank you. That is so depressing.I understand but there really is very little reason for me now to visit this port. Nothing really for my teen, nothing for me, and the flies everywhere is ick

I’m in the same boat (no pun intended). Between the lack of floats and no teen area, I feel LC is lacking a bit. There are several things missing there that exist at Castaway Cay that have me thankful we’re booked on the Treasure in June 2025 and go to CC.

I *do* think the beach and crystal clear water is where LC shines. But that’s honestly the only thing I think is better than CC, personally.

I wouldn’t NOT book an itinerary that had LC, but I was let down by the videos I saw. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I hope LC is everything that others want in a port stop.

I am glad that it is not like Perfect Day at Coco Cay (TM). I think Disney made a courageous decision to keep it as a place to enjoy nature and relax with your family.

I am curious if they increased the cabana count compared to Castaway, as that island was built for 2,500 person ships....

You’re not allowed to say you like Coco Cay on the board apparently you just supposed to like a beach with umbrellas that’s “courageous“.

By nature, I’m not a negative person. I usually see the good in everything. For instance, the drone show in Disney Springs is fabulous and incredible. Castaway Cay just the same way Aulani has magical theming of Disney touches, but doesn’t beat you over the head with Mickey Mouse.

I just assumed since there already is a water park it would be something fabulous it looks really thrown together. I would have like a nice pool area maybe some Mickey statues or Disney beach sand castle nods just something that we haven’t expected from Disney that pulls you to this island. It’s ok to be disappointed in something, I hope they fix it soon and add some real Disney magic to it.

Castaway Cay is pretty perfect and Coco Cay I thought would be a template for Disney to out-due Royal Caribbean not for adding more but the themeing and amenities to offer.

I get Lookout Cay isn't as great as Castaway and I share the frustration that after 26 years, we still can't get another private DCL destination that's as good as CC.

However, for me, it's better than going to Nassau. So for those 4 night trips on the Fantasy, I'd pick an itinerary with CC/LC over CC/Nassau any day of the week.

It's all about perspective.

The Nature Trail for hiking/biking was closed yesterday. No bikes to rent. It wasn't clear if this was just because it was a preview cruise or if it's not ready? We will be a LHP on the 15th and 17th (with CC on the 16th) and we were looking forward to renting bikes and exploring. Without that activity, I'm not sure my family is going to just want to do beach all day for 2 days. I'm really regretting booking this cruise. I clearly should have waited until we knew more. :-(

I disagree. Nassau has Atlantis, which is a great attraction: excellent water park, beaches, smoke-free casino, nice restaurants in the hotel, etc. Lookout Cay just has a beach. The price is included for Lookout Cay, unlike Atlantis, sure, but the tradeoff for most cruises is that if you're going to Lookout Cay, you're usually not also going to Castaway Cay. That loss isn't worth it.

I'm really glad that I learned about all of this before we cruise there in September. Otherwise I would have been really upset and disappointed while on vacation. This way, we will be able to manage our expectations and go into it knowing that Lookout Cay is for us basically going to be a bicycle ride (come on DCL and have that ready by September at least), swimming at a pretty beach, then heading back to the ship for a lunch onboard that doesn't feature lots of flies.

Our March cruise will also go to Lookout (hope it's more developed by then, but not expecting it), but that one will also go to Castaway Cay. I won't book any future cruises that go to Lookout that don't also go to Castaway Cay.

I love cabanas, and have been fortunate to get them. However, the Serenity look like they are off the water, behind a hedge, and down stairs….for $563. Whereas a family cabana with view of and access to water is $96x.
I don’t like the Serenity setup, and I won’t pay for a family rate for two people. It looks like our January/February 4 day may be a one and done.

The nature trail was open to the crew

Yeah I looked online
My wife and I found a pretty good deal (for us) that goes to both Lighthouse and Castaway in November. We never got to go to castaway due to high winds on our first cruise so it'd be great to go to both back-to-back to do a comparison.

I just heard in a vlog that beach wheelchairs are not yet available. They will be in the future, but they didn't arrive in time for the first sailings. In the same vlog, it also sounded like there were some accessibility issues with the private cabanas.

Now that I'm seeing more, I think the beach looks stunning, and I can't wait to make it down there. The walk and tram rides aren't fun, but the beach, bars, local musicians, and nature trail look great and are what I want in a cruise ship island.

Lots of cruisers seem to just want to hang out on the beach even at other ports (taking taxis to local beaches, etc), so it feels like this will fit the bill for that quite nicely. And it looks just beautiful!

I'm really excited to see Lighthouse Point for myself next April on a Disney Fantasy cruise with stops at CC and LP. I will have a four year old and it will be our first big trip with him. I'm fully prepared for some parts of the trip (any part) to be stressful because that's the reality of traveling with a four year old.

The only other Disney cruise I took was in November 1998 on the Disney Magic. I remember hating most of that trip but I was also 14 at the time! I was on several more cruises (RC) as a teen in high school and college. I loved the cruises but I never enjoyed the ports that much. I feel like with the private islands it seems like Disney tries to make it as easy and worry free as possible. And if we end up not enjoying LP we'll just go back on the boat.

Well you’re not getting anything outside a beach so it’s perfect!

I'm the odd one- but I love that pier. Your boat docks in the open ocean, off you go and you literally get to walk through the ocean to an island, turn around and have the most awesome view of your ship out there in the ocean? Have to walk it twice- once on the way there and once on the way back..

They should make a shirt that says "I made the long walk to Lookout Cay" with a picture of the dock and ship in background. Sell it for $30 at the first shop cruisers see.

My daughter (14 yo) and I enjoyed walking the pier. It was beautiful. The somewhat dusty tram rides and the flippin‘ flies while eating lunch were not. I was afraid I was going to eat one by accident

Walking 10 minutes without stopping is not
Sometimes people with mobility issues don’t mind walking, but might need to sit for a few minutes to catch their breath or just rest their legs. They could walk the pier if there was someplace to sit at least midway. Don’t think everyone is looking to get a free ride and be pampered.
