VGC is small but I have my doubts that a full referb is going to be done in 3 months.
They probably wouldn’t outright cancel your reservation… but they might move you. My guess is that they would probably try to move people over to the Disneyland hotel since they still have a lot of inventory over there.. they might also offer a hotel room if your staying in a studio..
I’m kind of waiting for this to happen to somebody. I’m really curious if they’re going to move people over to the Disneyland hotel and then try to charge them the transient tax. I wouldn’t pay that tax if I didn’t book there. I stay in a studio so honestly, I would probably just try to get them to give me a regular hotel room at the grand Californian
I have a reservation there on April 27th… so I guess we will find out. My number one hope is that I get to stay in a renovated DVC room.
Yes, I said "cancellation" but I really meant "move." They try to move people a lot at WDW -- sometimes, not in a fair exchange (your VGC to DLH suggestion, for example). I heard about how they would move people from Boardwalk to Animal Kingdom during the Boardwalk refurb last year. Animal Kingdom is a nice resort, but it's not an equal substitute for Boardwalk if you booked Boardwalk for its convenience (which is why most people stay there).
Usually at WDW they offer a $50/night credit for the inconvenience. To me, that would be a slap in the face, especially if it were comp for a VGC to DLH change.
We are not in a studio, so if it happens to us, I'll be sure to update here.
