VGC refurb?

VGC is small but I have my doubts that a full referb is going to be done in 3 months.

They probably wouldn’t outright cancel your reservation… but they might move you. My guess is that they would probably try to move people over to the Disneyland hotel since they still have a lot of inventory over there.. they might also offer a hotel room if your staying in a studio..

I’m kind of waiting for this to happen to somebody. I’m really curious if they’re going to move people over to the Disneyland hotel and then try to charge them the transient tax. I wouldn’t pay that tax if I didn’t book there. I stay in a studio so honestly, I would probably just try to get them to give me a regular hotel room at the grand Californian

I have a reservation there on April 27th… so I guess we will find out. My number one hope is that I get to stay in a renovated DVC room.

Yes, I said "cancellation" but I really meant "move." They try to move people a lot at WDW -- sometimes, not in a fair exchange (your VGC to DLH suggestion, for example). I heard about how they would move people from Boardwalk to Animal Kingdom during the Boardwalk refurb last year. Animal Kingdom is a nice resort, but it's not an equal substitute for Boardwalk if you booked Boardwalk for its convenience (which is why most people stay there).

Usually at WDW they offer a $50/night credit for the inconvenience. To me, that would be a slap in the face, especially if it were comp for a VGC to DLH change.

We are not in a studio, so if it happens to us, I'll be sure to update here.

I've seen some people on Facebook have stayed in them. It's pretty much what we've seen....new flooring/carpet, murphy bed, new upholstery on dining chairs. Some new appliances. Everything else the same as before.

Is there a reason why they grand californian hotel website doesn't show the villas for rent, can only dvc members rent the villa side? I only see pictures of the regular hotel rooms

There is so much demand for VGC, none of it’s going to make it into breakage for Disney to use. If any does it world probably get scooped up real fast

I attended the annual DVC meeting about 5 years ago and that question was asked. They said because of the small number of rooms, they do not offer them as cash rooms.

I’m certain better pics have been posted on the interwebs, but I grabbed this to send to my oldest. I can try to get better pics once the teens are up - this is their sleep in/pool day 😎

It is not, but he’s adorable too so I wouldn’t mind it being Flower either
I have decided that is Bambi’s wife and Bambi’s child…. Very sweet picture and nothing bad will happen afterwards…..

I like that take and think I can handle. I cannot handle Bambi at all. Had a car accident with a deer at 16 and am still traumatized by it all these years later.

Last week, we were in 1508 (1BR) and there was a Murphy bed, but the room was others not refurbished. The entire 2nd floor was closed off and there was construction all day, each day, along with the exterior painting. It seems the refurbishment may be underway. There was a bit of extra noise, but it was fine.

If the room we strayed in was "refurbished," I will be very disappointed because it was almost the same as 2009, except for the Murphy bed. A couple of other rooms we passed by while housekeeping had the doors open had sofa beds.

Hopefully that was a test room.
