I am booked for the Magic June 2024. Husband and I sailed the wish Nov 2022, and the fantasy with our 13 month old Dec 2024. We are hooked! We especially love the convenience having a toddler.

That being said. Hype me up! What’s to love about the magic?! I know it’s smaller. I didn’t feel like the fantasy was too big, so will I feel like the magic was too small?

Also, we are on deck 2 in room 2044. Anyone stayed there before? The other two sailings we were higher decks with a verandah. But with the little one we found we didn’t get much use out of it. How is deck 2 on the magic?

I love the Fantasy and I did not feel the Magic was too small. It felt more intimate, which I did like.

My favorite thing about the Magic (which I've sailed 7 times, most recently in 2019) was the family-friendly lounge between Lumiere's and Rapunzel's. It used to be Promenade Lounge but was updated to Soul Cat a few years ago. Promenade Lounge was a great place to hang out while wandering the ship or while waiting for dinner to start, as well as to let small children burn off energy. I'm hoping that stayed the same.

Are you sailing in 2025 or 2026? If 2025 in the Bahamas, you will notice the smaller crowds at Lookout Point and Castaway Cay compared to to the Wish and Fantasy.

We sailed on the Magic after previously sailing on the Fantasy and Dream. It felt like we had pretty much the same amount of amenities (minus a premium sweet shop and Midship Detective Agency), but it took us less time to get everywhere! Very easy to navigate, and the main pool felt less crowded. I also really enjoyed Rapunzel's Royal Table and the classic version of Animator's Palate.

I was on the first floor on the magic before and I liked that we were always the first on the elevator (had to use the elevator at the time)

I haven't been on the bigger ships but I'm booked again for the magic (also in June)! I don't like crowds and I liked that I didn't find it crowded

I haven't been on the classic ships in 10 years but will be on the Magic this summer. One thing I am really looking forward to is seeing Disney Dreams again. IMO, it's the best show on all the ships. It's a do not miss!

We've been on the Dream, Fantasy, Wonder, and Magic - we enjoyed all of them, but the Magic is our favorite. :)
Like others said - it's easy to navigate, we really enjoy all 3 shows and Rapunzel's restaurant, we prefer the classic Animator's Palate.
Being a smaller ship, we got to know the CMs better.
We loved deck 2 - we were in 2610. Most of our other cruises we've had Verandahs, but we really liked deck 2, and it's what we have booked for our next few cruises.

We are sailing 2025! I’m definitely looking forward to smaller crowds!

Does the boat feel less crowded as the bigger ships? Or just as crowded since it’s a smaller boat?

We sailed on the Magic last April on deck 2 and loved it. The ship felt cozy and not overwhelming especially for the kids first cruise- they said they loved how easy it was to navigate.
We loved deck 2 forward, felt the stateroom was a good size and it was quiet. The kids loved trying to watch for “dock runners” as our room was above the gangway 😂

I think about the same since it's a smaller ship. I don't every feel too crowded, though.

We've been on the first five ships and will sail on the Treasure in May. I'd say that our favorite is the Fantasy, but we just sailed on the Magic in May 2024 and there are several things that I love/prefer about the Magic:

  • original Animator's Palate!
  • adult pool and (2) hot tubs
  • Rapunzel's Royal Table
  • Fathoms (we love The Tube on the Fantasy, but the layout in Fathoms is overall better)
  • DH only takes stairs, so he likes that there are fewer decks
  • We like the O'Gills space/layout better
  • Shwarma station
We've stayed on Deck 2 in an inside room and it was great. We had a room fairly close to the stairs/elevator and it was very convenient to get to everything. Looking at the deck plan, 2044 looks great because it's pretty much right between the forward and midship stairs/elevator.

I'm sure you'll love it! And then you'll have all three classes (Wish, Dream and Magic) under your belt!

I agree about Disney Dreams being the best show! I was a dancer in that show my last few contracts and I must admit there were plenty of times I cried while onstage!

Thank you, I appreciate this post!! Those are things I am looking forward to!

We were on Magic for our 3rd cruise, after Dream and Fantasy. I loved Magic, but will warn you not to judge in the atrium when boarding for the first time! I remember coming in and thinking "this is it??" because that atrium area is really much smaller than on the others. But, I loved Rapunzel's Royal Table, the adult pool area, and even though it was a full ship, we had some nice late afternoon times that the pool deck felt pretty empty (we had late dinner and didn't usually go to the shows). I wouldn't hesitate to go on Magic again. I even got used to that smaller atrium and it grew on me. Our itinerary didn't go to CC, but I would really like to experience being there with the smaller crowd from the smaller ship!

We were on the Magic last year when it was docked with the Wish. One of our favorite things was standing up on Deck 4 overlooking the atrium as the Wish cast members were coming on to visit and watching them see the "tiny" atrium for the first time!

There was a lot of the Magic crew doing exactly the same on the Wish that day!

My favorite part about docking next to another Disney ship (it was our first time) was observing cast members. And seeing a few that we knew from the other ship!

Last sailed the Magic in 2022 and it was in great shape and stayed on deck 2. Loved the convenience of not having to use the elevator after a show and being able to avoid the crowds. My kiddos are sailing her again in January with their grandparents and they are so excited. Love the smaller ships.

We love the Magic. We have cruised her 3 times and have 2 trips planned on her this year. Rapunzel's Royal Table is truly beautiful. I really like the update of Soul Cat Lounge, it has been a wonderful addition to a beautiful ship. It is large without being so big that running to your room is an hour long endeavor. The staff are wonderful and she is beautifully maintained. The shows are really good as well. I hope you have a fantastic trip!

The Fantasy was our first and will always be my DCL home. That said, there is so much to love about the Magic and Wonder. They are not that much smaller, but they are small enough to have an intimate feel. The last time we sailed on the Magic, she was starting to show her age, but she has been in dry dock since then. We have been fortunate to sail on all the DCL ships except the Treasure (Sep 2026!) and the Adventure. I like them all, despite the odd layout of the Triton class ships.
