TRON Specifics Please

My thrill-seeking daughter and I are going on a quick Disney trip in 12 days and when it's just the 2 of us I always feel bad because I'm a scaredy cat so she has to ride some things alone. I've done Tower of Terror ONCE and said never again but I think I might do it anyway BUT I'm debating about Tron. I want to do the back seat not the motorcycles (I feel like it'd feel safer). I'm scared of heights, speed and drops but looking at this, which it's fast, it's not much faster than Test Track probably and I can do that. As for drops, I can't tell from this how steep that is. Anyone know? I just recently became able to handle Splash mountain and 7 Dwarves. But I love them now. I can NOT do Rockin Rollercoaster, Everest, or GoG due to nausea fears/dizziness. I watched some sort of YouTube coaster simulation showing the track but I can't tell how steep the downward areas are.

Don't worry, Tron isn't really about high drops. However, this attraction leans towards speed. The launch at the beginning of the ride is fast, but not as fast as VelociCoaster across the street. The drops are reasonably steep, but not to the point where you receive "ejector airtime" which is the sudden and unexpected feeling of getting out of your seat for a brief moment mid-ride.

Believe me, you are definitely not alone in being a scaredy cat. I went to Orlando for the first time in 2018 and chickened out of a roller coaster at SeaWorld that was much more intense than Tron, and I instantly regretted it and cried at my hotel room all night long. Almost 6 years later (last summer), I came back to SeaWorld before my Disney and Universal runs, and by then I mustered up the courage to go back on that same terrifying coaster I chickened out earlier. It was all smooth sailing from that point, aside from typical Orlando rain. When I went on that coaster at SeaWorld, I screamed part the Loud House theme song on the first drop. It got me through the scary parts of the ride and I end up enjoying it instead of dreading.

You definitely got this when it comes to overcoming the scary parts of attractions. Definitely watch some POVs on these attractions so you at least don't have too much sticker shock when you get on IRL (focus on the ones that give you the jeepers creepers like Tron for example). The POVs reduced that nervous feeling I had on intense attractions and I definitely think it might work for you.

I absolutely hate big drops and heights. I no longer ride ToT or Tiana’s because of them. Tron doesn’t bother me at all except for the uncomfortable sitting position on the bike. Luckily, it’s a very quick ride so I’m not uncomfortable for long. I would love to try the regular seat in the back, but the line has always been too long.

Ah, so you're after the comfort from this point. The bike seats are a bit of a different experience for everyone. Definitely factor in additional time if you're after a regular seat in the back.

I absolutely cannot do GoG (tried a couple of times) but can do Tron. Getting on the bike feels a bit awkward (as does the pandora ride) but nobody is watching you get on and off as they are all busy getting on too - honestly, much like getting on a low carousel horse - looks awkward but can’t do it wrong, and feels fine once on it. Also, it helps if you listen as they say you are going thru Gate 1, Gate 2 etc so you know the ride is almost over before you have time to feel very stressed . A photo of you and your daughter side by side on the Tron Bikes would be a great memory! Enjoy!

At that age can your daughter ride alone? Sitting in the seat took away so much of the thrill and fun factor when I did so with a fam member who couldn’t do the bike…

If you are concerned yes ask for the back. DS 12 and I rode last summer. We ended up first row and thought it was intense speed and surprise wise. Second ride through we were second row and totally different experience every pic we were laughing. It is far less intense than Everest and the visuals as you are riding are awesome.
If you or your daughter has long hair though make sure it’s up it will hit you in the face .

My husband can get carsick while he's driving! He & I rode in the back seat on TRON while our daughter & her friend rode the bikes. We had no sickness issues.

It is such a short ride. Honestly, one you go back inside after the launch it's almost over. I think there are six rings total, so as you "collect" them you'll know how much longer it is.

DH loves this ride. I think it's fine but not super exciting. The launch and the part outside is the best part of the ride IMHO.

Me and my son visited Universal for a day while looking at colleges. We did a bunch of the roller coasters. I'm really not a fan of some of the crazier coasters, and I would have preferred to sit them out. But we don't get a lot of opportunities to do this type of thing with just us, and as the kids get older, I figure we should take advantage of every opportunity to create memories. There are rides that I won't do---Mission Space Orange--and some that I will do once---GOTG---but unless something makes me super sick---The Simpsons---the reactions to 'the fear' become memories.
On a previous family trip, we rode Rip Ride Rockit. My regret wasn't riding it. My regret was not purchasing the video. We stood there and laughed for a long time watching my face.

Tron isn't nearly as intense as the bigger Universal rides. And it doesn't give me motion sickness like GOTG and the backwards portion of Everest. Personally, I have no issue doing Tron or RnRC. It's the Hulks and Velococoasters of the world that I would prefer to sit out if at all possible.

I am going to disagree with most of these answers. If you recently became comfortable with Seven Dwarves, then you should not be on Tron. Tron is a full fledged roller coaster. Even thought it has no sudden drops or upside down, it is FAST and you feel exposed on the motorcycles - plus height feeling when you go outside. I do not think the back seat will be enough of an improvement.

Although Tron is known for speed it's still slower by ~5-6 mph compared to Test Track. No big drops; Splash Mountain's/Tiana's drop is far worse than anything on Tron. It's pretty straightforward: really it's just a launch followed by a few banked turns and the ride is over. Less intense than Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Expedition Everest, and Cosmic Rewind and it's a much shorter (duration) ride than all of those. Not sure if you've ever been on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad but you're definitely higher off the ground on that coaster than you are on Tron.

I cannot do ToT (I tried again a couple of years ago and just no). Tron is just straight up fun. Less intense than Everest, Guardians, RNRC for sure. If you’re nervous, sit in the back, the first time I rode the locking in part was intimidating. It’s a great ride, just too short! I say give it a go!

I think with most rides it depends on how the various effects impact you. I can't do even slow/stationary rides where some movie screen in front of you simulates some type of motion, those always make we dizzy. However, roller coaster type rides are no issue. So it is hard to compare and offer advice.

The indoor part of TestTrack is rather slow/jerky types of motion where you often change direction. Only the outdoor part near the end of the ride do you zoom around at a rather high speed. That part is a very smooth/level banked track, doesn't last that long and the main sensation is of being pushed back into your seat.
