Tron at park closing?

If this is true, why are those "inflated" wait times not reflected on thrill-data.com? If this was a regular occurrence, I would expect to see a sharp increase at the exact same time every night before close. I guess one could argue it's difficult to compare because sometimes, the line actually is long, and other times, people are attempting to get in line just before close, which of course would make the wait times increase. Regardless, it would be easy to see the sharp increases across the board in the data, and this just doesn't seem to be the case.

If you're saying that occcasionally (maybe on more crowded days) a CM manager/coordinator might bump the wait time 10-15 minutes without any consideration of the current line status, I can believe that. It's just that people on this board act as if this is commonplace every night and every ride, and that just doesn't seem to be the case.

I'm not sure why you're so disagreeable on this topic. Line Stacking is standard operating procedure on the headliners every night and has been in place for many, many years. We use it as part of our touring strategy and have never found it to be unsuccessful. I could give you dozens of examples from personal experience but I still doubt you would buy into it.

That’s not correct. As an example, On a recent visit we rode Rise of the Resistance 3 times before the park closed. For the first two rides, the posted time was 80 minutes but it dropped to 70 minutes for the 3rd ride. The actual waits were 20, 10 and 0. The posted waits are definitely monitored at night and adjusted as necessary.

We first read about the closing processes in the 1997 Unofficial Guide and have been using it to our advantage ever since.

How many hours in advance of park close did you experience this at Rise? 1 hour, 2?

Has anyone tried to do SDMT and Tron at the end of the evening without LL of any kind, standby only? If so, I am wondering what the best order would be with these two.

I will be trying this at the Christmas Party in a couple weeks (so admittedly no LLs in effect and lower crowds) and can report back. I am thinking SDMT then Tron since its target audience (families with younger children) will be going home earlier than the Tron crowd (thrill seeking adults). Plus TRON is new and shiny.

On that visit, we hit Rise an hour and twenty minutes before close. The posted wait was coincidently also 80 minutes, but you can tell that it’s nowhere near that as hardly anyone was milling around outside the attraction.

Has anyone tried to do SDMT and Tron at the end of the evening without LL of any kind, standby only? If so, I am wondering what the best order would be with these two.

We like to save 7D for about a half hour before close, which is generally enough time for a couple of rides. The longest we’ve ever waited was 20 minutes but that was during opening week in 2014. Since then, the wait has usually been about 10 minutes or so. The posted wait at this time can range from 50 up to 100+.

A couple weeks ago, I noticed around 7:00 (8:30 fireworks) that 7DMT had a posted wait of about 40 minutes. I had a LL for Jingle Cruise at 7:50. I decided to chance doing both before fireworks. The wait at 7DMT was very close to the 40 minute mark, but I managed to get both done by 8:15 and found a spot to watch the fireworks in front of the castle.

I'm not the OP, but a few weeks ago I walked into HS just before 8:00 (9:00 closing) and went straight to Rise. It had a posted wait of 25 minutes, but I walked right into the first pre-show and was off by 8:24. I rode TSM and was in line at Slinky by 8:50.

We have only done SDMT as Tron was still VQ when we were there in Aug. At 8:40 posted wait time for SDMT was 80 mins. We rode it and then got in line again so actual wait time and ride was less than 20 mins! (Park closing that night was 9PM)

I will say a different night (park closing was 10PM) we were waiting for our Tron VQ to be called. We tried to tap in 2 groups early but were turned away and waited about 10 mins for our VQ BG to be called. We were pleasantly surprised when it was a complete walk-on and many trains were leaving less than full!

I'm not sure what the better order is to ride them to try and do both with shorter wait times. I would guess I would do SDMT first then Tron after.

I will say, if you wait to join after the fireworks are over (if fireworks are within the last hour the park is open) there will be less opportunity to ride both as many guests will head to one of those attractions after the fireworks is over. In that case I would recommend joining one of the lines during the fireworks.

If the park is open more than an hour after fireworks you'll have more of an opportunity to ride both.
