Just wondering if people are getting soaked when riding this? Some of the online videos I've seen look pretty unpleasant on that front... I don't mind getting a little wet, but definitely not "go back to the hotel to change" wet. I haven't ridden Grizzly River Run in almost 15 years for this reason. 💦 :-)

Everyone gets at least a little wet. Some people are getting drenched. Others report just a sprinkle.

Disney Parks Blog warns:

You may get wet!

You’ll board a log flume that twists, turns and splashes through the bayou before culminating to a thrilling 50-foot drop. For any items you wish to protect from getting wet, consider placing them in a locker rental on Main Street, U.S.A., leaving them with a non-riding member of your party or placing them in a resealable plastic bag prior to boarding.

Waterproof ponchos are available for purchase at various retail locations across Disneyland park. You can also find a Tiana’s Bayou Adventure-themed waterproof phone pouch and souvenir towel available for purchase at Louis’ Critter Club in Bayou Country.

Same here. Haven't ridden either Grizzly or Splash Mtn for years and years because I don't want to walk around the parks soaked. Saw a couple ride videos and the people in front looked like they'd been swimming!

My family rode Splash Mountain plenty of times over the years. Sometimes we'd all come off bone dry, occasionally soaked through, but I'd say most often partially wet (like one side of a shirt and shorts damp for a few hours).

We only rode Tiana's once so far, and it was on the wetter side. It felt like the flume was more full, or maybe they removed some of the dampening features that used to prevent water from rebounding back into the log after the drops. But that's just a single data point, so it could also just have been "one of those runs" that got us wetter than usual.

This was a huge miss on their part. There is space for lockers next to where the photos are displayed. In my opinion, this makes the restrooms at Hungry Bear even more of a mess than they normally are. 😕
I hope someone at Disney is watching feedback and will add lockers. I wish they could change design or something to not have as much water come into log, but seeing they opened it with same setup it doesn't seem likely.

Zip lock baggies are great for phone and wallets too. Few years back they used to even give them out for free with sponsorship through Ziploc company-

Yeah, all it takes is a couple of claims about phones that no longer work after getting wet on the ride....

It’s the same 1989 ride. That hasn’t changed. Added a few new switchbacks in the queue and new story telling. As far as what gets wet or can get wet…same.

Yes it's the same basic attraction however before Splash closed and pre pandemic Disney completed a major refurbishment that greatly changed how wet you get. I could ride multiple times a day even late night and never get soaked, yet after that (previous) change it was a risk to get drenched and now same for Tiana. Hence the free Ziploc bags I posted about.

I assume guests are talking about it more now as Tiana is new and they hadn't rode Splash as much.

The splash level changed after the last extensive refurbishment. This is pretty well documented in many places online.

Even with the same basic ride structure, differences in water level and log design can make a big impact.

Just rode it today for the first time (LOVED IT!). Um, no to excessive drench. My right foot got wet (I took my socks off before riding) and my right forearm, and it wasn't from the big drop, it was from the first outside drop. Some dampness on my leg, drops in my hair but definitely not drenched. Our log had 5 people in it, I was in seat 4.

And honestly, the last time I rode splash I really didn't get wet enough for a poncho. I believe the key, is weight distribution to how wet you will get, as well as seat position.

Our ride broke down near mama Ode! We were escorted off, and exited backstage, also given a blue pass to ride either TBA again when it reopens, or another ride.

That is great to hear. Were the people in front smaller/lighter?

Only one man in our log, and he was in the front. The rest of us were women, around 5'5 and under I would say? under 200lbs for the women. The guy was probably around 5'9" and slightly built, not too stocky.

Also, I braced my feet on the outer edge of the logs, for the drops, so that most likely was why my right foot got wet.
I noticed people coming off ahead of me were also wet on the right side, primarily. I was boarding group 69 and waited in the area for about 1.5hrs (didn't ride until about 4:20pm approx.). Although, after eating at Hungry Bear around 1pm, I headed down to see why the boarding was halted, and that was when I did see some people walking off with their hair fully wet, but again, not the majority of guests.
