Three Things...Gratitude Thread

IMG_6842.jpeg
I'm noticing a lot of sweets are featured in these "holidays" in the winter šŸ˜‚ - will take inspiration from the name, though...

Today's Topic (Fri, 2/21) - 3 sticky things you're grateful for

Pre Wrap - DD16 has this knack for ripping up her arms when she slides and dives. One of the nurse moms that used to be with our team always kept various colors of pre wrap handy to go over things like this midgame so that the kids could keep playing. I love that it sticks to stay in place but never stuck to what she ripped up on her arm.

3M Medipore Cloth Surgical Bandage Perforated Sheets - I was introduced to rolls of these back after my surgical complications in 2021/2022. Not that I ever really want to need it again, but this stuff works better than most OTC surgical tape and can do the trick (with proper gauze sheets) to make any size bandage. It also sticks well and really stays in place.

Hydrocolloid band aids - DD18 already uses the star patches for pimples, but these things worked magic on my heel/ankle when it just wouldn't heal. I'll spare you the gory details (and pictures), but the photo journal I kept showed dramatic changes in a relatively short span of time once I switched to them for my healing.

(not sure why I went full first aid with this! šŸ¤£ )

Honey- I use honey in my tea, and where would Pooh be without honey?
Moleskin- Takes care of those Disney park induced blisters in a flash!
Command Hooks- We are using these on our doors at the moment, to hang up lengths of fleece along the door edge where the lock is, to keep the cold air out. Yes, there is a noticeable temperature difference in my front hallway!

Sticky masking tape ruining paint and cardboard products that has set in the šŸŒž šŸŒž šŸŒž for 7 hot days at the rummage sale seen from space šŸŒŒ šŸŒŒ šŸš€ šŸš€...why it took NASA so long to invent painters tape that I use to price items for re-sale with no fear of the tape melting in the Yuma sun

This šŸŒ„ šŸŒ„ sunrises I was pointed to šŸ¦‚ šŸ¦‚ scorpion running back forth between two scrub grass bushes...my first one in 7 years....we had all been waiting for an hour to open a church rummage sale that sit right on the edge of the primitive Sonoran desert...a real sticky situation when I went to poke it out of the bush so all could see

Carpet tape...both sides sticky to adhere to the patio concrete...so no scorpion šŸ¦‚ šŸ•·ļø or black widow can crawl under... but is much fear that there are plenty of bugs spray business to keep us safe... though much of the spray is for termites

Today's Topic (Sat, 2/22) - 3 things you love that come from California (or if you happen to live there, 3 things you love about your home state)

Good Saturday Morning

I donā€™t know much about California, so my answers may not be very good or creative - theyā€™re obvious answers, which is kinda boring.

#1 - Movies - I love movies so Iā€™m grateful for Hollywood and all the movie magic that happens there.

#2 - Walt Disney Animation Studios - Always grateful for the new Disney characters & stories that are created there.

#3 - Disneyland - Iā€™ve never been, but Iā€™m grateful for its success, because it led Walt to want to make WDW.

I second all of yours, @slo! (I don't think they're boring at all, and movies was the first thing I thought of when I typed the category.)

Also almonds. (According to my Google search: "California is one of only five places outside of the Mediterranean where almonds grow well" and they are one of my favorite snacks!)

And my Aunt J~~~. She lives in northern California for most of the year, and I'm very grateful for her!!

YES YES šŸ‘ šŸ‘ right now the orchards are in bloom as far as the šŸ‘€ šŸ‘€ can see...šŸ¤ÆšŸ¤Æ your mind beauty and the road side poppies

Gold nugget frozen coffee drink.. the best on the West Coast.. yreka at the Oregon border in the view of the most visible šŸŒ‹ šŸŒ‹ volcano on the West Coast... thankful that no one around here even measure up to the golden beverage

Susanville... north of Reno on US 395.. Safeway store has the best wings and the beauty is that when on route US 97 in the forest you can join the forest ...and be a litterbug with the open window

The Martinez palm... between treehouse and pirates ... that is one big artifact of what was and now isšŸŒ“šŸŒ“šŸŒ“šŸŒ“šŸŠšŸŠšŸŠšŸŠšŸŠšŸŽ šŸŽ šŸŽ šŸŽ

In 1980 I flew out to CA to do a trip along the coast from Ventura to Oregon in my friendā€™s van. But Mt. St. Helens erupted and lots of smoke/ash was coming our way, so after staying in San Francisco a couple of days, we went east to Yosemite, which was closed due to snow. (First week of May!)
Loved: Big Sur, 17 Mile Drive, and having mountains on one side of the road and the ocean on the other. (Kind of like Maine) The quality of sunlight was something I particularly loved. As a New Yorker, I really felt the difference and it increased my mood-naturally!
