Three Things...Gratitude Thread

TGIF!

#1 - Otis’s Puppy Crate - I’m grateful he has a comfortable safe place to be in when we are not home.

#2 - Dining Room Table - I am always grateful to have our large dining room table when the whole family is together. Having a dining room was pretty important to me when we were looking for a new house 20 years ago. Many people say dining room is wasted space, but for me, it’s a well used room. When we do not have family over, I use our large dining room table to work on my puzzles.

#3 - Picture Frames - I’m grateful to have all the rectangular picture frames displaying all the pictures that I love. Many I made myself and many are store-bought.
My sister collects everyone’s cellphone at family dinners. Changes the social action for the good.

Happy Saturday

#1 - My Girls Kid Artwork - I have so much saved and display the holiday ones every holiday - I tape them on my kitchen cabinets. I cherish these very much.

#2 - My Custom Picture Frame Store - I was a custom picture framer for 25 years and the last five of those years I owned my own business. I am so grateful every day that I was given the opportunity to be a small business owner. Creating frames for frame peoples artwork was creative, challenging, and a lot of fun, but most of all, it was an honor, privilege and a huge compliment that people trusted me with their very cherished items.

#3 - Craft Shows - I’m going to one today and tomorrow. Even though I buy very little when I go, I still absolutely love looking at the artistic talent and creativity of all the items that are there.

Saturday hug to all :)

Dad and I enjoy doing full-color Hidden Pictures meant for kids.

Cute pups or pretty scenes, etc of a 100 piece jigsaw puzzle. Neither dad nor I have the patience (or space to store) a larger one.

Art done by children is heartfelt because they are so precious and creative, too.

Gen AI- Yes, it’s a powerful tool that doesn’t come without controversy (to say the least), but I had to take a WBT yesterday on our new Gen AI tools and it gave me a laugh I really needed. I asked it to paint me a picture with orange tulips and blue puppies. The output at first glance was adorable and kind of silly, which was a nice smile and laugh in itself. Then I started to notice the number of puppies with mutant defects. Then I noticed that the birds it put in the sky looked like they were mixed with lizards and lilies. Then it occurred to me that the tulips were also mutant size…think tulip trees. While I’m sure I could have worked with it to refine its art what it did create brought such big laughs and smiles.

Museums- I have always been a fan of seeing higher art in person. There’s something about being close enough to a master work to see brush strokes or subtleties in shading and depth of subject that doesn’t pick up well in photos. Once day, I will make it back to Florence and get into the Uffizi.

This is a nod to my aunt who recently passed- She was a high level interior designer, featured in many magazines over the years and did custom work for many public figures. Her home was a showpiece that always had me in awe as a kid. Even when my grandfather passed, she put her talents to work through her grief and rearranged all of the food to make a more aesthetically pleasing presentation. I recently saw a magazine where someone bought a house she helped design. They wanted to modernize, but her work was considered art, so everything was done to try and keep some of her spirit and contributions in the new look.

I will go with all types of artists and their chosen medium.

I appreciate the fact that so many ppl can view a single piece of artwork and have so many different interpretations of what it means to them and what the artist is trying to convey.

Musicians.
Check out Alexandr Misko. He can make his guitar sound like he is playing along side other guitar players.
This might be a little strange but what Van Halen did is amazing.

God's artistry. No explanation needed

Artistic things

I am partial to the Impressionists, especially Renoir. Love seeing Impressionist art in person.

Everything my DGD draws and paints and creates.

My favorite composers, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Debussy and so many more. Also Lennon and McCartney and some jazz greats like Ellington, Miles, and what Ella could do with her voice.

I definitely enjoyed Sesame Street as a kid.

He-Man, Smurfs, and the Flintstones were three of my favorite cartoons as a kid.

Family Ties was a favorite weekly show. I also have vague memories of enjoying Eight is Enough and Northern Exposure with my beloved grandma when I was either home from school for the day or got out early.

Three favorite book series growing up the purple hardcover Bobbsey Twins, Beverly Cleary, and Baby-sitters Club.

I'm grateful I grew up with Schoolhouse Rock!

Heartwarming family shows like Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons.

And this one wasn't a kids' show, but is connected to a memory - my grandma used to come over on Friday nights to watch Dallas with my mom, and she used to bring stuff to make English muffin pizzas with us.

Good Sunday morning

#1 - My Childhood is Mr. Roger’s - I loved watching him so much, especially with my Grandma.

#2 - DD26’s Childhood is Bear in the Big Blue House - I have such wonderful warm & fuzzy memories of us watching this together.

#3 - DD21’s Childhood is Dora the Explorer - OMGosh….she loved Dora so much. I have great memories more of reading her Dora books than watching the show wit her.

#4 - Bonus….both girls is Playhouse Disney - we all loved watching it together
