Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Animals:
1. The two feral stray cats that always come around.
2. My dad's dog. He became a widower last year, and that dog has been a good friend for him.
3. The big-headed turtle that comes to eat the cats' food, and walks right up to me, like he's got something to say.

Extra:grouphug:WDWEPCOT. We care.

Animals

1 Memories of my dear Champ, a wire hair fox terrier who sure infused so much love into my life. He's serving God now as one of His doggie angels. One day, God-willing, I will adopt a dog or in some way volunteer with dogs, in Champ's honor.

2 Lambs will always have a place extra in my heart for Jesus, our Shepherd and also because "Lamm" (no "b") was one of Champ's many nicknames.

3 To all stuffed animal friends who bring comfort and an extra smile to kiddos and grown-ups alike. I still have from my childhood a stuffed animal rabbit and dog.

I will always love my cats whom have all passed so now I am grateful for my

squirrels especially the couple that come up and get my PB sandwiches
my vultures.......they are so beautiful and quiet
and the deer who wander around in the yard all winter

Summer2018....I saw my first real dolphins in a harbor in Charleston, SC. Sooooooo awesome to watch them!

I like our vultures too.

I started a new job so I'm behind on the days, but I am really loving this thread!

Clothing:
  • My dresses for cruises. I love dressing up for dinner and get some quirky dresses (i.e. my flapper style green dress I wore for st. patricks day one cruise). They make me smile and I could not care less if everyone else is wearing jeans.
  • new slippers I got from amazon. super inexpensive, super comfy and I love them.
  • Fleece cat pjs my mother in law got me for Christmas about 2 years ago. They are warm, super comfy, and I just love them.
3 things you can see right now:
  • My cats- one tortie, Ginger and one black cat, Stout
  • My fall decorations
  • My purses that my cousin made for me (one cross body, one wristlet). They are unique and I just love them.
Animals:
  • Can I count the Philadelphia zoo as one thing? It's close by, awesome and the annual pass is well worth it.
  • All the dogs (3) and cats (3) we have had over the years. Losing them were heartbreaking each time, but we got so much joy from each one. We still have our 2 cats who are littermates and only a few years old. But we are taking a break from dogs for awhile.
  • Ghost the cat who hangs out in our office/warehouse where DH and I work. He's a rescue and loves everyone in the office and everyone loves visiting him.

Thank You !! It’s working - she is doing better already and starts new (another ) medicine tonight - it’s the prayers !! 🙏🙏
Again I am Grateful for the DIS and all the wonderful people on it !!! Blessings to All and BLESSINGS to God!!!
I truly am grateful & blessed to be a part of this community ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You have no idea how much you all help and mean to me / Thank You !!!!

It’s not one gift - it was the whole day - my last birthday was AMAZING - DD made the WHOLE day one thing after another - got me my favorite coffee & muffin delivered to house / made me puffed French Toast / we went to High Tea / went to Casino had a drink and won $60!! Then surprised me with dinner at favorite restaurant / then home for homemade c cake !!!
We are not big gift givers - low limit $20 set because we really don’t need anything - it’s more about memories than gifts

DD gave me some cute Christmas Sweaters & Sweatshirts that I still have & love !!

1. Several years ago when streaming platforms were just becoming popular and we didn’t yet have a smart TV, DS got us a Firestick, after watching us fumble around in frustration trying to access and cast shows. It was a game-change, but that he even noticed and made such a thoughtful choice was what really touched me. :lovestruc
2. All the money gifts my parents gave me (us) over the years; they always helped when needed.
3. An art piece that perfectly completes our newly refreshed decor. It was a gift from a family member that ended up being a long-term house guest and she gave it as a thank-you when she finally moved out 3 months ago. It’s not a masterpiece or anything but was quite a bit more than I would have spent myself. I love it!!

Gifts

Stipend from my Grandparents each year in college, helped me get through with no college debt. I did work in library as well.

From my Dad, a sense of family. That we can be friends with all family members, regardless of factions that try to split our family.

From Mom, an appreciation for education and travel.

This topic is very easy for me, because I rarely buy nonessential items for myself, so when I get a gift I’m super thrilled. It’s hard for me to narrow down 3, but the ones I’ll mention are….

The cordless Dyson stick vacuum from my MIL - I love love love this gift - I use it every day🙂👍🏻

The Disney Coach purse & wallet my DH just gave me for my birthday. This was a total surprise - I kept telling DD19 how much I’d love to have it, but would never spend the money for it, so she told her dad and he bought them.:goodvibes

Last years WDW vacation my DH secretly planned for my 50th birthday. This was a very special trip because WDW and I both turned 50 October 2021, so to go during the 50th celebration was something I’ll never forget

Home made birthday cards that my daughters make me every year. DH got them started on that tradition years ago, and they still make them, along with breakfast in bed.

My little water fountain that my parents gave me that I have next to our rear patio, it's very peaceful to listen to during the summer.

For Christmas several years ago, my family and a few close friends went in together and bought my EasyStand standing frame. It's a medical device that stands me up, so I can move around the house while I'm standing. I use it a lot in the kitchen, and when I'm cleaning.

I've mentioned this before several times but it's such a significant part of my life so I feel impelled to say it again. I am so, so thankful that my parents adopted me out of a broken and dangerous foster care system. They gave me love, support and stability like I'd never known before. They were plain people who lived a very plain life. I feel like I won the lottery with them and I will spend the rest of my life remembering and honoring them as best I can. Thanks mom and dad. I love you and miss you both so much.
