I've heard them referred to as sifters or strainers, but not sieves.

I’m grateful for the kind people I met on my cruise so nice caring and nonjudgmental uplifting
I’m grateful I was Pixie Dusted 4 Times on the cruise and for all the very kind messages on my dry erase board

In case anyone is wondering…

A sieve is for dry ingredients. A sifter is a kind of sieve. Some will say that they’re interchangeable while others see a sifter as a specific kind of sieve. Either way, you’d use them for things like flour and cocoa powder.

A strainer is for wet ingredients. So basically something where you want to catch particles, but let the rest go through. I often think of fruit with strainers.

That being said, a lot of people only have one (usually a strainer) because one can do both jobs if it has the right mesh and used correctly.

Over the Top

Cakes- I’m always so wowed by over the top cakes. I’m just so wowed by confectionary engineering feats.

Surprises- I love seeing or pulling off an over the top surprise, especially for birthdays, holidays and vacations.

Parties- We were just talking the other day about the incredible holiday parties my company used to host. They’d rent out one of the city’s huge museums or pro sports venues, the catering was from some of the top local restaurants, there were open bars with all kinds of top shelf offerings throughout, there was usually entertainment like bell choirs to greet us and strings groups near gathering points, and we usually went home with some kind of favor…like the year we got Van Gogh paintings made of chocolate.

Hopefully you can appreciate how excited I was when we put in these shower heads. They both made such a huge difference.

YES!

Here, we have always called the ones we use to sift dry ingredients sieves or sifters, and the ones we use to drain wet items strainers or colanders. A sieve would have much smaller holes than a strainer here.

Over the top................

Frosting on a cake. There has to be lots!

Royal Pageantry. It's only occasional, but they really put on a show.

Disney theming in the 90s. When Hollywood Studios took you behind the scenes; when there was an 'Ol Swimmin' Hole called River Country; when there was a Main Street Electrical Parade in the Magic Kingdom; when the Disney Stores had Plush Mountain and the large figurines in the windows etc. etc..

And I agree with you all about Christmas lights - the more the better. I, especially, like a mass of white Christmas lights.
