Thinking about booking the Westin…. Can anyone give me any advice on the easiest and quickest way to walk to Disneyland from that resort?

Has anyone stayed there and has any feedback on the experience?

Thanks!

Walk up Disneyland Drive, go left and around back of Paradise Pier Hotel, and then straight up to DTD security. About a 15-minute walk.

Coming back you can cut through the GCH. Or maybe use the Paradise Pier entrance to exit DCA. We used that as an exit while we were staying at DLH but no one asked for any hotel key to leave the park that way.

We really like the Westin.

Thank you very much for responding and the excellent advice!

We’re looking for something that has a more resort feel…. Pool, nice restaurants, a great bar, nicer lobby and amenities. Do you think the Westin fits that bill? It seems to from their website.

this is the path my husband and I used when we stayed at Westin back in April. On the way back we did cut through the Grand to get to Disneyland Dr.

I would say the Westin is definitely a more resort feel. We did no eat there but the restaurants all looked very nice, as well as the pool area. The lobby and rooms were also gorgeous. A94B3EB3-99CD-4CB7-B792-1ACF64377923.png

We stayed there mid-September and thoroughly enjoyed it. The beds are very comfy and everything was new and clean. We used the same walking trail as the poster above. If we were in DCA, we came out through the Paradise Pier Hotel exit between Corn Dog Castle and Seaside Souvenirs. If leaving from DLR, we went through Downtown Disney, turned left before the Dress Shop and entered Grand Californian that way. We exited Grand Californian by turning right when you see the bell services sign. This leads you outside to follow the sidewalk to get back to the Westin.

I never even realized there was an exit from DCA for PP until recently. Your feedback is so helpful and I appreciate it.

Instead of starting a new thread I thought I’d ask if anybody who has stayed at the Westin has done ride sharing service. We used to walk with stroller but now have kids that are just a bit too big for stroller and don’t want to make them walk 1.25mi before we even reach the park.

We are in the same boat for an upcoming trip. From what I understand, uber and lyft drivers typically drop you off on the East end of the parks closer to Harbor, which is a short walk to the esplanade. Alternatively, there's a passenger pick-up / drop-off location in Downtown Disney that's a bit farther of a walk.

When leaving the park, we had planned to cut through the GCH, but a previous post in this thread mentioned a PP exit, so I might have to look into that now instead.

We love staying at the Westin and watching the fireworks there—but I would happily pay another $20/night for an hourly shuttle to the esplanade. I don’t mind paying an Uber to drive us there (it is MUCH closer on the esplanade side), just wondering how long the wait is around 7:30AM and how hard it is for the Uber to actually get into the drop off lot. I guess the alternative is parking at the Disney lot and taking the tram.

I used ART to and from the Westin. There is a stop right out front. I know you were asking about rideshare but that is what I do when the walk is too much.
For a family of 4 or more, wouldn't it be cheaper/faster/nicer to take an uber/lyft vs taking a bus?

How frequently does ART come and how long does it take to get from the Westin to the parks once you are on board?

It sounds like a nice option to me but I don’t want to miss rope drop and at that hour, I don’t want to wake much earlier than I have to.

they come pretty often and you can track the busses on the app. but you may not want to risk it if you have rope drop goals. I used it mid-day and to return the hotel. saved me some steps.

The break even point for Uber/Lyft is about 2 adults. Kids and senior tickets are cheaper so ART would likely be a very tiny bit cheaper if you go exactly 3 or 5 days as a family of 2 adults and 2 kids. ART could also be cheaper if you take more than one round trip a day but that's a huge cost in terms of time because it runs inconsistently outside of the morning and evening.

For the Westin, I don't really recommend taking ART. In fact, for leaving California Adventure after World of Color, I'd even recommend walking over Uber/Lyft even if Uber/Lyft didn't cost money.
