The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

I was just over on Facebook and someone staying in a week and a half was notified their 1-bedroom VGC room would be unavailable. They are moving them to a premium view room on the hotel side. Sounds like it's a regular sized room. And no club level. What a serious downgrade! I would be so upset to lose a 1-bedroom....the laundry, the kitchen, the 2 bathrooms. Horrible!
Definitely unfortunate for that guest to be downgraded like that. This is the same type of recovery they did for BWV refurb delays...downgrading 1BR to standard hotel rooms. They probably just don't have the quantity of suites to recover 1BR Villa guests into similarly sized accommodations, though.

Makes me nervous for my upcoming 1BR stay. I was probably the last to book as I upgraded from a Studio to a 1BR with non-VGC points at 7m.

I'm wondering what's going on with the refurb. There could be booking system issues factoring in here, but I think it's more likely off-schedule if they're relocating people last second, as they definitely took inventory out proactively. Which then begs the question: are they behind schedule or ahead of schedule?

Some little birds have sent me more photos of the remodel but I’m not sure if I’m allowed to share them. Any one else seen anything?

1) You're a tease.
2) I haven't seen the photos anywhere else and I definitely can't speak for your little birds about whether or not they're shareable.
3) What are your impressions of the photos you've seen?

Sorry, not my intention but I risked being a jerk to hopefully prod more of you legends to also check your networks and get confirmation/insights. I do wish I could share them but I just confirmed not allowed to :(

At least the confirmation that info is "out there" is good news :)

Mix of carpet and wood floors (could/likely be vinyl) but seems to be well done. Overall less carpet.
Still has a somewhat strong "wood vibe" so that's good.
Still has fancy (ish) lamps.
Furniture looks good so far and a refresh of what was mostly right. Didn't see anything that screamed IKEA.
The Murphy doesn't look like it's out of place.
Bambi
I like the colors/mix so far
No info on kitchen/bathrooms
Familiar but clean/refreshed.......

I'm in the 7.5 to 8.5 (perhaps 9) of 10 happiness scale right now based on what I've seen.......

Follow up to my earlier post, cause I am now more excited.....our waitlist for the 2 nights at the beginning of our trip at VGC somehow actually came through so now we get to stay at VGC for 8 nights. As a non-owner there I can say with 100% certainty that I never thought that would happen.
Yay! I just had a waitlist come through too- May 10 studio! I requested a merge with my other night through chat and that also just came through (4ish days later)

I'm afraid to ask ours to be merged. The 6 night reservation has an issue with it. They assure me the room is reserved properly and it linked automatically to the Disneyland version of MDE, but the reservation seems like it is "read only".

If I try to look at the guests on the reservation I get the dwarfs. Member Services were able to add my wife with no issue, so that was good. But if I go in and try to modify it (had 4 pts I wanted to reallocate) it errors out.

MS couldn't do it either. Said that IT could fix it but now that the first 2 nights came through I don't have to reallocate. We'll just ask the front desk when we arrive if we can stay in the same room.
