The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

I know right. Looks and feels sparse. But maybe they do not want to over encourage using the space for whatever reason.
It will probably happen at some point, I remember when the area above the Trattoria was a quiet wine bar that was one of favorite Disney secrets…. now it’s the MK terrace….. it is the way of things…. but I am definitely in a hurry to have them put it behind a pay wall.

Your question got me curious. Tracked down this video accessing and the views from the terrace. Took a little bit of research but its called The Paradise View Terrace if searching on the internet.

Just watched and this is amazing. We have never been and had a slow enough time to check it out. This time we do and I'll be at VDH. Once again VGC for the win!

FYI... https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/exciting-new-additions-hotels-of-disneyland-resort/

Not sure if the picture on the blog post is a preview of what to expect with the new DVC rooms once refurbished
"Disney’s Grand Californian to Add New Décor to Guest Rooms
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will begin refreshing all its guest rooms, including the Disney Vacation Club Villas. The décor will complement the rooms’ existing Arts & Crafts motif, yet will add new bold colors across the carpets, upholstery and bedding, with accents inspired by the beautiful California wildflower blooms often found in Impressionistic plein air paintings that helped define the art movement of the Arts and Crafts period and continue to inspire artists today. Most notably, each room will have new artwork that was commissioned from local plein air painters."

I haven’t seen the post on the updates. Did they mention a begin and end date for the room refurbishments?
What @aammtt20 posted includes the entirety of what was mentioned about VGC refurbishment in the article. It's disappointing Disney made no mention as to when the refurbishment starts, let alone how long it is expected to last.

I don’t think that’s info they will post in a Disney Parks blog… it’s too niche.

We know that it has started, so that is a good thing.

Actually, all the article says is that "Plans Underway for Two All-New Concierge Lounges at Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian." It says nothing about hotel and DVC refurbishments actually starting yet.

The article listed the following time frames for refurbishment:
  • Napa Rose - closing in Spring, slated to reopen in Fall
  • Disneyland Hotel all-new concierge lounge (High Key Club) will open in Summer
  • Grand Californian second club-level lounge - slated for completion in 2026
  • Pixar Place Hotel - two new premium suites - to be added this Summer
No time frame is mentioned for these refurbishments:
  • Grand Californian hotel rooms
  • VGC villas

It doesn’t have to say when it will start…. we already know it. We know because there is refurbishment going on right now.

Yes, I think they said 5&6 were inaccessible, at least from the elevators.
Thanks. I'm off to look for the posts. In a quick search I found a reference to a FB post (Facebook?) but no indication of where/who posted it. I'd like to see some firsthand reports here on the DIS or another non-FB site since I don't use Facebook.

Here’s the post from this thread.

Thanks to both of you. My memory must be failing me because I have this thread on watch but I didn't remember seeing those posts before.

Anyone have any clues where this new second club level lounge will be? What kind of wondering what portion of the hotel is about to become inaccessible to normal guest. I like exploring around the top levels of the hotel with all the cool little winding staircases and stuff…. That will be a bummer if that gets closed off.

Also, I kind of wonder when Napa Rose is gonna close I was gonna be there at the end of April…

Sounds like some of the rooms might be done by then though

Also. The wording of the blog post makes me a bit nervous…

“Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will begin refreshing all its guest rooms, including the Disney Vacation Club Villas”

I hope this doesn’t mean that the DVC rooms are just getting another refresh after 14 years. They are suppose to be getting a full referb. I don’t really won’t them to go to crazy changing the feel of the rooms, but they definitely need more then a refresh. The bathrooms and kitchens need gut jobs. I would be super happy if they end up looking like the hotel rooms. I love the Chip & Dale thing with the accent lighting on the upper rim of the room.

The rooms will undoubtedly be getting Murphy beds. They already installed one in one of the rooms a while back… probably for test purposes.
