*The Official VILLAS AT DISNEY'S GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT & SPA Owners & Lovers Group* - LOBBY REFURB BEGAN 4/14!

You can also walk to the TCC from VGF… but the monorail station is REALLY close to the VGF building… it’s super easy.

The villas building has its own drive in area and worked really well for Uber pickups.
Good point on walking to the TTC. It’s probably much quicker than taking the monorail. It’s so nice having the walkway between GF and the Poly open again.

Between these two, which is quickest...

Resort monorail to TTC. TTC to Epcot.
OR
Resort monorail to MK. Express monorail to Epcot.

There's no express monorail from MK to Epcot. You have to get off at the TTC and switch no matter what.

Just stay on the resort monorail all the way to the TTC. Too time consuming to get off at MK, switch to the express, then get off at TTC and switch again.

The question is between…
Resort monorail to TTC, TTC monorail to Epcot
OR
Walk past Poly to TTC, TTC monorail to Epcot
OR (technically)
Walk (or resort monorail, or boat) to MK, express monorail to TTC, TTC monorail to Epcot

Personally, if during “peak” travel times, I’d walk to TTC because the unloading and loading of passengers at the various monorail stops on the resort loop always seems to take forever. I can walk to TTC faster. However, at off-peak times when not as many passengers are getting on and off at the hotels, the resort monorail is easier than walking, especially if it’s hot out.

I think that third option is what was throwing you during your googling. There is an express monorail at MK, but it only goes to the TTC (directly, without stopping at any hotels) where you would then transfer to the Epcot monorail. There’s not much point in trying to head to Epcot by way of MK, since the time taken to transfer between monorails, etc. there would negate any time savings from being on the express and thus not making the various stops of the resort loop monorail.

Sorry to ask this again - in a GFV DVC 2 bedroom Villa, the coffee makers use the packaged Joffrey's pouches right? and don't have Keurig capabilities right?
Can anyone tell me if the filter basket is cone shaped or flat bottomed? I'm bringing my own filters and coffee as I can not for the life of me make a decent cup of coffee using those pods.
TIA!

Just back from GFV. Flat bottomed filters required. Coffee machine can use either ground beans or pods.

I have some transportation questions.

When stay at the VGF, is this correct.....

To get to AK and HS - bus only.

To get to MK - boat or monorail. Both go directly to the park. (Or you can walk.)

To get to Epcot - Resort monorail...first stop MK, then Poly, the TTC. Switch monorail. TTC to Epcot. (Or is it better to do Resort monorail to MK. Get off and then get on express monorail to Epcot?)
The boat to MK is not direct. It is a loop: GF > Poly > MK. If you board the boat at GF you go to Poly, wait for people to get off, wait for people to get on, and then you head to MK. If you want to get to the MK fast do not take the boat. Honestly the original VGF building is probably equidistant from the GF and Poly boat docks.

The resort line stops are also different. It goes GF > MK > CR > TTC > Poly. Expect around 5 minutes per stop.

I think this was clarified above, but the resort monorail from GF stops at MK, then CR, then TTC, where you switch to the Epcot monorail. When you come back from Epcot to the TTC, you'll switch to the Resort monorail, which will stop at Poly before going to GF.

I think everyone answered your Epcot monorail questions already, but it can definitely take awhile. We like to take the monorail to Epcot at least once a trip for the experience (really fun view of the park coming in), but we tend to drive the rest of the time, just because it's quicker. Obviously that isn't an option if you won't have a vehicle.

For MK, we monorail on the way there and take the boat on the way back (MK is next stop on the monorail and GF first stop on the way back on the boat.) Walking back is always a good backup option also, as long as everyone's legs can handle it. It's a very beautiful walk back in the evening.

It is a nice walk back in the evening, but be aware the bridge raises twice a night to let the electrical water pageant out into seven seas lagoon and then back to where they keep it overnight—you can have a 10ish minute wait at the bridge while this is going on.

Thanks. I think I read "express monorail to Epcot" and just assumed it didn't go to TTC.

Dang...I didn't realize boat wasn't direct. Bummer. The boat from WL to MK is my favorite mode of transportation.

We had a 2 bedroom last year and it was a Keurig machine - could either do single pods or a pot full. Joffrey's pouches and pods were provided.

Thanks all!

For future reference, I’m trying to keep this thread up to date with all of the important coffee maker details we all need/want…

This is great!

YMMV, but I've timed our travel from the GF monorail stop to the EP stop (resort loop to TTC then transfer to EP) and in total it usually takes about 30 min, and that's with a stroller and grandparents in tow, so it probably can be done quicker.

And definitely second the others about the boat transportation. We like taking the monorail from GF to MK only for the aura (and since it's the first stop), but the boat from MK back to GF is the way to go for sure (or walking as well). In no way shape or form do I want to mess with the monorail station at the end of a long day to then have to go through three additional stops before getting home.
