The Official Riviera Owners & Info Thread

I am very sensitive to caffeine in coffee, which is why I avoid it. Do you think the cold brew is lightly caffeinated or perhaps they can make decaf? I have to try it!
You can’t get the cold brew decaf but you can get an iced decaf americano bc they have decaf espresso shots. Signed, a fellow super sensitive to caffeine person

Are you able to tolerate the cold brew?

Are the grand villas all the same size at RVA, whether east or west part of the tower? TouringPlans is making me think otherwise, take a look:

I'm guessing this is not to scale?

Point sensitivity is no secret. Studios book fastest. At most resorts, standard views book fastest.

The TPV rooms are a tremendous point cost at Poly. Example; TPV studio for Thanksgiving week at Poly, 236 weeks. For almost the same price, you can get a 1 bedroom in several resorts.
Put another way, most DVCers would rather take 10 nights in a standard studio of 7 in a TPV.
As a DVC owner, I can tell you length of stay comes first and then resort (we go at least 2 times a year). So first I figure out
the dates of when we are going, and then figure out how to cover each stay. Usually one trip is studio and one trip is a one bedroom.

Since there still hasn’t been word about the Skyliner closure, is it safe to assume it won’t be going down in January?
I'm planning on booking next week for Riv for October. If I cannot get all dates, I'll stalk and piece together (as I did my 10 day stay this October at BWVs). Anyway, what is the estimated date of the Skyliner closing because this may dictate if I chose another resort.
We wanted Topolinos at night for drinks/apps (we usually do this from the BW) and wanted the Skyliner for BW area since we loved the Cake Bake and wanted drinks and a couple of meals there.

Thank you.

Skyliner usually closes for a week (usually even less) in late January. You'll be fine for your October booking

Just completed our first stay at Riviera. The DW and I had a one-bedroom for three nights last week. The resort is very nice and access to the Skyliner is great for those Epcot or Studios visits. We enjoyed our stay except for ..........

the terrible view for a "preferred" view room. There was nothing Preferred about it, unless they consider the shrubs outside the window to be "preferred" shrubs. We were on the ground floor, with the walkway from the lobby to the Skyliner right outside our window(s). Since this walkway gets a lot of traffic, we kept the drapes closed almost all the time. As has been the case in many resorts, Disney overrates the views on many rooms, most likely to allow more points to be sold.

Would we stay at RR again -- maybe. To avoid the risk of getting a bad "preferred" view room we would probably so Standard view.

That is an unfortunate room assignment. I had a similar studio but up a floor and I enjoyed my room view of the skyliner and pond. The path did see lots of action though.

I recommend bringing up this stay at your next check-in and I would expect you to have a much better room assignment.

Question for Riviera owners as a new resale BLT owner. Being that I cannot book at RIV and resale RIV owners can't book elsewhere, is it common for resale owners to find points/reservation swap partners? Not looking for anything right now, but curious if I will have the chance to stay at RIV in the future, as it seems really nice.

it’d be easier to rent points or book cash with discounts than swapping. There’s not much incentive for a direct owner to just swap. A resale owner might be interested, but it’s still easier in my opinion to rent your points and then rent points that can be used at riviera.

I would love to find a swap partner that is interested in AKV or BLT home resort priority
