I think the decision to try and ship him off to Europe is just based on the fact that Chad Duel is departing the role of Michael so they need to find a way to get him off the canvas. Whether or not Chad comes back to the role of Michael or not, they are setting it up that he can return or a recast can return with a new face.

you would think they would have bandaged at least part of his face to "explain" a possible future recast. I'm a day or so behind, but at least from what I saw, his face/head was unharmed

Agree. But it just adds up with the ineptness of these writers.

I was also thinking, his face seems fine, you would have thought they would have bandaged it up to leave room for a recast.

It looked that way to me too. I wouldn't expect to see a face so unharmed after what Michael went through except in a poorly written movie.

They don't need to ship him off to Europe to keep him off-screen for weeks/months/years. He just needs to be far enough away from Port Charles that it makes sense that people aren't going to visit him and they don't need to film scenes of visits. My guess is that Chad really just needed some time off. He seems to be having a rough time since the loss of his father a few months ago. I've read several things that outright say that GH will take him back whenever he wants to return. I'm guessing he's going to take a few months off, try some new things, and see how he feels then. He has definitely not ruled out returning. And if he does decide not to return, it wouldn't be the first time a soap opera recasts someone. I think we've had 3 different actresses play Carly and at least 2 play Nina. They even recast Edward Quartermaine. While having Michael get facial burns might seem like a great idea to make a recast make more sense, I think they wanted his face visible for these final scenes before he gets shipped off to Johns Hopkins or Germany. Just my thoughts....

That was hilarious. So now Michael is on his way to Germany, Carly going with him, so she's going to be gone for an extended period of time too. And the way they left Sonny at the end of today's show leaves us wondering if he's on his way out. These new writers need to get it together before they start losing viewers.

Also wondering if Jason will bring a deal to Willow that she can have the kids but Drew can’t be around them. The way Drew was talking to her today made him sound like her new cult leader. “No Willow, don’t let Carly and Sonny manipulate you, that’s my job” One conversation with him and she was doubting all the sensible decisions she was making after her conversation with Chase and for what it’s worth, I don’t think Carly and Sonny were manipulating her, I think they were being sincere.

My guess is that Sonny's going to end up in the hospital needing heart surgery and Carly will hop on a plane back to Port Charles. Or the burn center will have some rule about patients not having visitors due to infection risks so she'll come back home and wait for them to call her and tell her it's ok for her to come back because Michael is strong enough for visitors. So is Joss now watching her younger siblings or are they going to move in to the Quartermaine mansion, too? I haven't heard them talk about Pilar (the nanny) lately, but maybe she'll reappear while Carly is gone.

It's funny you bring up him being a cult leader. I've read other forums where people are speculating that Drew is Shiloh or Shiloh is controlling Drew since Drew just seems like a totally different person.

That would be interesting if it was Shiloh (from the dead bought back) or still not dead but pulling Drew strings or maybe has a Victor Cassadine trigger card.

I wonder if somehow Sonny and Natalia will have feeling and he goes somewhere for his heart and she goes too!
