Tell me about the chocolate Easter Eggs

I've heard there's amazing big chocolate eggs around Easter. Are they hard to get like the candy canes? Which stores sell them? Every day or only certain times? Thanks!

Closer to Easter, the confectionary kitchen in DL (the show kitchen at the Candy Palace) makes hand-made Easter eggs. There are a couple different flavors (I thinkthere was fudge, fudge with walnuts, white chocolate fudge(?)), but I don’t know if there is a set schedule. I know they sell them at the Candy Palace and they’re much easier to get than the candy canes. They’re very rich and very yummy!

Definitely easier to get than the candy canes. Not as labor intensive and time consuming to make as candy canes. They really seem to be a massive egg shaped piece of fudge dipped in chocolate. Agree that they are tasty and rich and because of that easily shareable as a family.

FreshBaked posted video from February 22. When they passed through the candy store, they found some of the chocolate eggs. I'm surprised they are out already. Obviously they have become a bit popular.

I bought the peanut butter ones last year and they were good. I bought mine about an hour after the park opened on Easter Sunday (the park wasn't busy). When I went in there were only 6 left for the day. The CM's told me that peanut butter was a popular flavor but not many were made every day (I can't remember how many they said) but I want to say it was like 20 or something. I passed through the store again about an hour later, I thought about getting another one but they were all gone. I was waiting all week for the peanut butter one to be sold so I was happy to get them. Other days I went in later in the day and there were a couple still available but it wasn't the flavor I wanted so I waited. So some flavors are more popular and sell quicker than others I think.

I never managed to get peanut butter last year! In my experience, the walnut flavors last longer than everything else.

I kind of hope they don't have it this year because I will be very sad to miss out on black walnut.

Black walnut is a type of walnut. It's a very strong, distinctive taste (still walnut, but like WALNUT). Most people when they think of walnuts are thinking of English walnuts. I don't often see black walnut as an option. The strong flavor is off putting to those who might prefer the more mild flavor of an English walnut.

Clearly I get very excited when I hear black walnuts are being used as I love them more than English walnuts, lol!

I don't know if they make more than one flavor per day, but I looked back through my photos from last Spring and it looks like they make lots of eggs at a time (in the photo I could see five trays of 16 eggs each in various stages of completion). It looks like they roll the fudge/filling, then dip the bottom in chocolate and let it set. Then they paint the top to get the rough/swirly pattern and place the little decoration. All in all, a fun process to watch, but as others have said, not nearly as labor intensive as the candy canes.

When I was there, I recalling seeing one or two flavors on the shelf at a time (chocolate fudge seemed the most common). The shelves ebbed and flowed; I didn't see a time when they didn't have any, but there were times when they were down to a dozen or so eggs (not sure of the flavor).

You could freeze or refrigerate it. Ask at the candy shop, maybe they can help you.

I would really like a chocolate peanut butter egg, but they are a bit pricey. I might buy the kids one as they feel left out since we're leaving them with Grandma for a week while we head out to celebrate alone.
