When we went to Disney World in 2015, we were mailed Disney Magic Bands for everyone on our reservation. Does it still work that way, and does it work that way for cruises? What are the perks of having a Magic Band on a Disney Cruise?

You can use the new MagicBand+ (PLUS) on-board most DCL ships (not yet supported on the Wonder). Your MagicBands from 2015 will not work on-board DCL. As for what they do on-board, you get enter your stateroom and charge purchases to your account. They can also scan them at US embarkations ports when boarding the ship on the first day to make check-in simpler. The new PLUS bands have a lighted display which will interact with the fireworks.

As for MagicBands at WDW, they are no longer provided free of charge if you have a resort reservation. You purchase them at pre-arrival pricing ($10 discount).
