Hello! We are planning our first trip to Aulani end of year for two nights. It will be my husband, our 1.5 year old, and myself. I’ve done some research about view of the room and currently undecided on maybe either studio ocean view vs poolside or maybe even just hotel room (which is a lot cheaper)? here is the price from David:

- Hotel room $736
- Studio poolside $1058
- Studio ocean $1150

Is it worth paying for the ocean? I read that it’s better to book the room “inside the V” (which is guaranteed if we book poolside) as long as it’s not ground floor?

A poolside room will not have a view of the ocean because all the bushes and trees block it.

The ocean view rooms at Aulani are not worth the extra money im my opinion. I am happy to splurge for an ocean front room in waikiki, but in Aulani the view is meh in comparison to other beach hotels I've been to. I would go for an island gardens view as some of them still have a view of the water, they are just on lower floors and they are way cheaper.

Good to know, thank you! I don’t necessary need to have the ocean view, was thinking it would be nice to overlook the lazy river etc

That’s what I’m thinking as well, unfortunately I think the only available option for my date now is a one bedroom villa, I think I might go with a poolside view

I vote for the ocean view. I don't care about the views when I stay at WDW or DL DVC resorts, as I pick the lowest points plus rarely in the room. Aulani is different because we spend more time in the room since we wake up early and get tired earlier at night since we are from the East Coast. Therefore, we enjoy breakfast and a nightcap on the outdoor room patio and enjoy the ocean view.

Important point raised here: Ocean View and Ocean Front mean very different things in Hawaii….
