Stolen Strollers?

I was a theme park manager at WDW for over 5 years and I think I had one true stolen stroller. And it ended up being found in the MK parking lot at closing (someone did take it and most likely used it for the day). Most were strollers that were moved. Now items being stolen from strollers? Yes, that definitely happens. Not a good idea to leave a $700 digital camera in a stroller... And the squirrels (or rats at DAK) would often steal food.
Must be another Disney urban legend then ….

Accidents and damage are understandable they happen … theft should never happen nor be dismissed as part of doing business in a civilized law and order society
I'm not sure your intent of all these posts. I think everyone is in agreement that theft is wrong and shouldn't occur. But unfortunately it does occur. Nobody here can stop it, though there are things one can do to help prevent being a victim of stroller theft -- renting, not taking an expensive stroller, marking your stroller in a way that's easily recognizable, not leaving anything with your stroller, etc.

Must be another Disney urban legend then ….
Honestly, with the vast numbers of strollers that enter the WDW park gates each and every day of the year, we would all personally know at least 1 family affected if this was such a big problem. While based on truth of limited past thefts, the "threat" of it happening has taken on a life of it's own through the Internet.

Hey just wanted to know if it was happening and clearly it is. I will take precautions to ensure I’m not a victim but I refuse to succumb to using some substandard stroller to keep the criminal savages away … MODERATOR: Please close the post as I have received the answer to my question.

Hey, maybe some here could start their own vigilante justice group to take matters into their own hands, maybe even a secret hand signal? How about The Guardian Angels? Oh wait, gangs in NYC used that one in the 70’s. Guardian goofy’s? Maybe some green mickeys - oh wait, that’s something else too. Thank goodness there aren’t worse things happening in the world today, like dead innocent kids.

You can Keep being the victim and pass it off as such as life… I won’t, I don’t have to live that way nor does anyone else

I was at MK on Friday and overheard a family talking to a CM (looked to someone at a manager level based on their outfit) about how their stroller was stolen near Monsters Inc Laugh Floor so it's definitely possible. I don't think it happens as frequently as people claim though.
That does not mean that it was stolen. There are people who start screaming about their stolen stroller and it has been moved to stroller parking.

Or perhaps it was …. The world may never know

When my cousin was a baby every time my aunt and uncle would go to amusement parks with him and my family and my cousins my aunt would take my cousin in his stroller but my cousin's stroller was falling apart and Dad would always have to help my uncle reattach the stroller wheels and then my aunt and uncle started renting the amusement park strollers when we would go to amusement parks with them. But when my aunt and uncle and cousins went to Disneyland in the 90's my cousin was rarely in his stroller and was mostly carried by my uncle and they never worried about my cousin's stroller being stolen. But Disney Parks should enforce a rule regarding strollers during ride announcements saying this "FOR SAFETY REASONS PLEASE DO NOT TAKE BABY STROLLERS THAT AREN"T YOURS. IF YOU ARE CAUGHT DOING SO YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM RIDE THANK YOU" and this announcement would help Disney Parks a lot

It has nothing to do with safety. Eject a guest for accidentally taking the wrong stroller. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Maybe something like Strollers look the same. Your stroller may have been moved. Please make sure you take your stroller.

We're reading about solutions looking for a problem.

It’s not really that hard for someone to keep their thieving fingers off other folks property during a visit to an amusement park … the fact some pass this BS off as a fact of life and not a big deal is both sad and appalling….

Maybe you can plant yourself in the stroller while your family enjoys their vacation without having paranoid delusions of people wanting to steal their stroller. I had 5 kids, 10+ strollers, zero stolen, never even crossed my mind.

I must have trouble reading. Which posters said stealing strollers is acceptable or a fact of life? Posters have said theft is extremely rare. Your implications to the contrary is BS.

CMs have an absolute right to move strollers, have chains cut if necessary.

Guests who inadvertently grab the wrong stroller may not return to the exact same spot. They are not thieves.

Solutions.
Identify your stroller with a name tag or some kind of distinguishing feature such as a ribbon or character decal.

Use an airtag. Helpful if you forget where you put you stroller, if it's moved by CM or accidentally moved by a guest.

You should bring an extra person in your group. Let them watch your stroller. Take videos of thieves. Have him confront anyone who touches your stroller

Exactly. With AirTags, it’s almost impossible to lose your stroller. Also don’t leave valuables on the stroller while on a ride. All we leave is our food on the stroller.

Someone accidentally taking the wrong stroller and then parking it somewhere different within the stroller parking area when they realize it's not their stroller is *not* being a thief (I've done that with our granddaughter's stroller. My son left a bottle of gatorade in the cup holder and I went to retrieve it after the ride; grabbed the sit-and-stand stroller with the bottle of gatorade and started to leave the stroller parking area. Then I looked down and realized it wasn't the same backpack in the bottom of the stroller and that I had accidentally grabbed the wrong stroller. I parked it and found the right one.). If you consider doing that thieving fingers, don't take a stroller to Disney because it's almost guaranteed that someone -- either a CM or a guest -- will touch your stroller. You're going to ruin your own vacation worrying about your stroller being stolen when there's probably a higher chance of your vehicle being broken into at the airport or resort or wherever you left it.

Those that say bring a $5 umbrella stroller instead of a rolls Royce are in effect saying it’s a fact of life … I’m sure those same folks are driving around in 78 Yugos instead of their 70k SUVs for the same reason …. Be a victim I won’t … have a magical day

Idk my phone tells me when an AirTag is nearby … even a thieving vermin could figure out where the AirTag that suddenly showed up on his phone after stealing an item might be …. Now when the savage thief decides to rifle through my stuff to find it could be a very interesting turn of events for him or her … Do you eat the food you leave lying around unattended? Interesting gamble … have a magical day

Nah not gonna ruin anything of mine … it’s been confirmed that this thievery is happening … now it’s up to me to ensure it doesn’t happen to me or if it does then a price will be paid on the thieving end …. Have a magical day
