Specifically for this tour, how long is the boat ride to the stingrays?
How long do you get to spend in the water?
It says shallow water, did anyone have a different experience?
Thanks.
For clarity, this is in Grand Cayman. Thanks.

Gosh, I'm not a detail-oriented person, but I did have a great time. We had done a boat tour the day before out of St Lucia, and the Stingray City experience was much, much better. This boat wasn't as noisy, the crew was great, and the provided lunch was really tasty. I had no idea what to expect, so in that respect I wasn't very prepared. I'm not a swimmer, and I'm 5'3" tall. I guess I thought there would be floaties provided similar to a snorkeling tour I had done in Maui. No floaties :rotfl2:I'd say the water was neck height or a little higher in most spots. I wouldn't have been comfortable without assistance. One of the crew members was very sweet and held my hand. He made sure that stingrays came to me and got a photo of me that I was more than happy to pay for. I didn't want to monopolize his time, so I had him help me to the dock after 10 min or so. I sat on the dock w/ my husband who elected to observe and enjoyed the lovely day. The tour also took us to Bird Island for a bit of a walk around. We used inflatable boats to get there from the main boat. For us, the experience was just right....I couldn't tell you how long though...Not more than an hour, I think. I'd recommend it!

Thanks. Was this in Grand cayman?

I haven't been yet myself , but you might be able to find the answers to some days on some youtube videos as well. I was watching some a few weeks back.

We enjoyed this particular tour in Grand Cayman on the Fantasy in July of 2024. After a transport in a van to the dock behind the business district of Grand Cayman, we boarded a boat with about 30 others to Stingray City. It took us about 20 minutes to arrive. You will be there with other boats and many other people around. They put down the anchor, and it’s time to disembark by ladder. Now I will tell you this….I don’t swim with fish of any kind. So this was definitely out of my comfort zone, because there are other fish in the water at all times that seemingly dart between your legs. But I was very brave, and decided to enjoy the warm Carribean and sparkly clear water. The two guides will go after the Rays and bring them to you for photos. We were probably there for about 30 minutes, but you can climb back on the boat at anytime you want. We then went to a beach for lunch, about another 15 minute ride, to hold starfish. We were there about another 1/2 hour. We ended up buying the digital photo package. They do not pressure you to do this, but we did get a ton of great photos that they send right to your phone for $90.00. Worth it to us. Please remember to bring cash for tips for both the boat driver and the guide. The boat driver also helps to catch the rays.
And I will note that I’m 5’7 and the water came up to my neck…and I was standing on my toes the whole time. Just a note also, they will not let you wear any kind of shoes in the water, because you have to dig into the sand for some traction. Hope this helps, the tour was called Intimate Trip to Stingray City.
