Star Wars land strategy

So, in the early stages of planning a January 2020 trip to try to hit Star Wars land with the fam for a Christmas gift and trying to pick our days. Do you think they will continue with the current magic hour schedule for hotel guest? Or do you think they’ll change it up once Star Wars land opens? I know this is all conjecture but what is your best guess?

I have no reason to believe, nor have I heard, that they would be thinking about ending/changing Extra Magic Hour/Magic Morning for hotel guests and those with appropriate entrance media. I suppose they could change the days around, but I wouldn't expect anything beyond that. That being said... There's only 2 areas that are open for EMH/MM at Disneyland, and those are Fantasy Land and Tomorrow Land. Without them opening other areas, it would be pretty difficult to allow people into Galaxy's Edge. I suppose you could have people take the Big Thunder Mountain Trail from Fantasy Land to get there.

In other words, I wouldn't make an on-site reservation in an attempt to get into Galaxy's Edge a little earlier, at least until time gets closer and we have an idea of what they are going to be doing.

But if you'd be booking on-site anyway, then it can't really hurt. Just as long as you aren't doing the reservation specifically for early access. But, you could cancel anyway, I suppose, if it becomes obvious that they aren't opening Galaxy's Edge for EMH/MM.

That’s exactly why I’m booking onsite! And it’s DVC, but it might be worth the risk. At least I’ll be in the park and able to make fast pass reservations as soon as possible.

We booked onsite for next year in hopes of getting in early, but there's no guarantee. For us, staying onsite was something we had been considering anyway since we haven't been onsite in many years, so it would just be a perk to get in early.

I hope they keep the hotel guests as early hour. But I hope they get rid of the 3 day ticket magic morning. It’s not a perk for hotel guests when so many are coming additionally. And I stay off site. Hah!

Amen! They do not need to do any further perks to bring in additional customers for the next three years, between Star Wars and Marvel. Eliminate that now, and they get two huge benefits: (1) early entry is more manageable for Disney and enjoyable for guests, and (2) on-site rooms become far more valuable and therefore they can jack up the prices even more.

Alternatively, they could sell three day tickets that allow one early entry to DCA only, which would have the advantage of spreading out the crowds.

Either way, they have to get rid of their current policy.

With how things have been going lately, my cynical self thinks thinks it won't be included as part of MM/EMH and any access outside of normal park hours would be through a separately ticketed event. With all that said... we're currently booked at VGC for one of the weeks it may be opening
