Ooh, does this mean they're expecting lower attendance when I plan to be there? haha

Well, yes, it's standard, but that's because they expect lower attendance at that time of the year, right?
not necessarily lower attendance. April is Easter and the park will be busy. I think it is the spring sale. They always have a spring sale. It is a good sale but I do not think they expect attendance to be lower. Attendance at Disneyland has been flat for a while - over a year.
There is no ticket sale for the period as of yet.

Then why have a sale if they could fully book the hotels without one?
You are not understanding me. Disneyland and Disney World always have hotel sales. No one said and I did not say they can fully book the hotels without a sale. Sometimes June and July and October do not have sales for those months.

The hotels are bought and paid for a long time ago. Hotel sales increase profits and operating income. Operating income for the parks especially Disneyland has been flat for a while WITH SALES. Why would the company stop hotel sales? They will not. Most people who go to Disneyland do not stay at Resort Hotels which have less than 4000 hotel rooms total. Corporate Disney has never relied on hotel sales to boost attendance.

See sale history for Disneyland:

They also have this great one which is 30% off rooms for the 70th celebration, May-September.

Enjoy the biggest, happiest celebration! Book early and save up to 30% on select stays of 4 or more nights at a Disneyland Resort hotel—from May 16 through September 26, 2025. Subject to availability and restrictions.

As you said, it is a 4 night minimum. We are either staying 3 or 4 nights (waiting on DD’s school schedule), but it says that if you shorten your stay, the rate may change. The crazy thing is that 4 nights at the sale rate are cheaper than 3 nights at the non-sale rate (with taxes and all)! So, if I book the 4 night stay, and we end up needing to leave after 3 nights, could we just not check out at the front desk on our way out, and then check out online early on day of our originally-booked check out (when we would already be home)? I would be concerned that they would make us pay rack rate for the 3 nights, if we tried to check out after only 3 nights, when we had booked 4 at the sale rate.

I don’t think I have ever actually checked out at the GCH front desk on any of our trips, now that I think about it. We just pack up, hit Ralph Brennan’s for some beignets, get our luggage and grab an Uber to SNA. I can’t even recall if we check out in the app or we just leave? I’m losing my Disney mind, apparently…

I added a night to use the sale. I was going to arrive Thursday morning but switched it to Wednesday night. As you said, 4 nights cost less than 3 with the standard rate.

The savings is pretty good with this deal! We may just have her skip a day of school and do 4 nights!

I am trying to predict when OBB will be. Last year, they didn’t do it the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, which is a disappointment for people coming from out of state. I guess they will probably similarly not offer it on that same Sunday this year. So I may be back to the drawing board with our dates…. In any case, I may just have to book this hotel deal and try to figure it out once her schedule comes out!

Oogie Boogie dates have already been posted and there will be one on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend!

And I’ve booked the GCH now for Labor Day (and hopefully OBB) weekend!! What a great sale on the room! Now we have to hope we can get tickets for OBB for that Sunday! I’m hoping it will be slightly less crazy than Indigenous People’s day weekend in October, when we normally do OBB!

Costco is offering a $200-$260 Disney gift card depending on length of stay for Room+ticket packages until the end of the year, on top of whichever standard discounts are available. I am tentatively planning a trip in August for 5 nights, so I get the 30% room discount plus a $220 gift card.

I think you can browse packages without a membership but when you check-out it will ask for your member ID. If you check dates beyond Sept 26, you’ll only get rack rates but the gift card is still offered through Dec 31. $160 is also available for Good Neighbor Hotel packages of 2+ nights.
