Something About Nothing............ #14

Good Monday morning from a very beautiful and mild Scottish morning!

Had a wonderful weekend, mum’s celebration was fabulous, we all had such a lovely time and yes, she was queen for the day.

Heading home soon but we managed some gorgeous early morning pics of my favourite place in the UK!

First one is from our room, then we went on the beach, the light changes constantly so the island looks different in almost every picture.

Hope your Monday is a good one :sunny::sunny::sunny:

Charade, great pictures and what a fun report for your short visit. Thanks for sharing. Glad the return flights were timely and hopefully you booked a bounce back. Funny, we were at FQ in February, and in the 6 building the second floor. We liked our room, as was right near a set of stairs. Was construction going on in the building, as well as on 7 next to it when we were there. Did you take the boat to DS? We did one time. It starts at PO, so when busy, not many seats left by the time it got to FQ. This fall, we are at CB, booked as a bounce back, as was a little cheaper than military rate. Agree, the moderates are generally nicer than the all star budget ones, and the now not so budget two with sky flying. Sigh, used to get Pop at a hundred even or less. If I’m going to pay that much for Pop, CB can be just as cheap. And then, nicer hotel, and one less route to make to get to those two budget ones.

Ugh, at least it felt warm. Was raining enough heard a steady swish of my windshield wipers as I commuted in a very dark sky, and on very wet roads. But quiet it always is, as like today, no other cars until got close to the city.

Monday feeling it is. Was up just before the alarm went off. DH was awake too, but I’m pretty sure he went back to sleep, as when got out of shower, I thought I heard him snoring. Yawning already, and office feels a bit cool. Have to hug that tea mug.

Marvelous Monday to all. And a very green one.

hopefully you booked a bounce back
I have an offer, but don’t know if we will take advantage of it. Dh wants to go back for the after hours events. The only tome we can do that is June or July and I don’t know if I can stand a Florida summer.

Did you take the boat to DS?
We took the boat from French Quarter to Riverside and then from Riverside to DS and then back to FQ. A lot of people were taking the boats, but fortunately the wait between boats wasn’t long.

IDK if I shared this already or not, every time I see it, have to laugh

Seems as tho I’ve cooked & baked the whole day. Decided to do the corned beef/cabbage/potatoes/carrots St Paddy’s day feast today. Tomorrow will be Reubens & red skinned potato salad I made this afternoon (which always seems to taste better after it sits overnight).

The Daves got a boring beef roast, they don’t know what they are missing! Walnut brownies & my soda bread, which family sez puts Finnegans to shame. Tooting my own horn

As long as they serve the good stuff & keep the litter box clean, I could live with that too lol

Holy moley! We haven’t had that sort of accumulation in one storm in years. Thank the powers that be!

Gotta wonder what folks do that are unable to handle that chore? They started a program here this year, called Snow Angels. It’s a good way for the high school kids to accumulate their mandatory community service hours

My two older boys are again coaching a semi-pro indoor football team. They played in Greensboro last night. Said it was non stop tornado warnings all the way back home.

We had one in force for all day. There were some of the winds associated with them in the area but, all we got was 1/4 inch hail and a ton of rain, with sunshine in between; no less!

I’ve yet to make that pie well. My mom’s was best I’ve ever eaten. I’ve used the same recipe and several off the internet. All to no avail.

When I found out how many calories were in pie crust, decided to skip it going forward no matter how flakey it is
Oh no, don't tell me there are a lot of calories in the graham cracker crust! I like to live in oblivion, lol.
I love the cat eclipse meme!

I'm glad your sons got home safe and sound. Those storms are no joke, and I've been through many of them when we lived in the South. We got so we didn't quite pay attention to most of them, which was probably a dumb thing to do. But they had them repeatedly for days.......

We lucked out and only got about 5 or 6 inches of snow. Roger is still able to snowblow our long driveway, but I wish he would get someone else to do it. We have teenage grandsons who could use the extra money, but he loves to do it, so....

Your St. Pat's day menu sounds terrific! Our small town has the shortest St. Patrick's parade in the US. It goes from one bar to another bar restaurant across the street called Brigids Pub. It's hilarious because they make a big deal of crossing the street in all their green finery.

Your soda bread looks wonderful, and homemade too? I bought a new bread machine and really love it, but I wish I could do it by hand. My arthritis in the hands wont' allow it so we use the machine.

Mac, I’m with you, I tend to like the pie filling more than the crust. Lemon is one of my favorite.

Was rainy early this morning, then felt cold enough, turned heater up in car, when we have had it off the last couple of days. Tomorrow, will start overcast, as it was all day today, then 40 to 50 mph winds before a Thunderstorm Watch issued for early evening. Soaked trash cans at the curb, I assume. And will still be rainy a little Monday morning. Joy for that day’s start. Not.

All decided Chinese for dinner tonight. Was delicious as usual and always very hot when we get opened at home. They are only about 10 or so minutes up the road for us. And not as much traffic near it, as road closed right above it, until November. Ugh. Makes getting past the closed part of that main drag very near us, annoying, and is giving lots more traffic to the other main drag that goes the same way, but is miles apart, and gives us a little longer to get home if we want something above the blocked part of the road.

Now, chilling as have done most of the day. Kids even brought me home a chocolate croissant for an afternoon snack. They were at the park above that bakery, again trying to catch a Pokémon.

Hope all are having a great weekend. And glad not seeing snow, ❄️ like Ruth.
The lemon pie itself was delicious, but I will never try to defrost the Cool Whip on top of the LP heater (even though it wasn't turned on it was warm). Then I nuked it in the microwave. Another mistake, LOL. It had yellow oilly stuff in it and was like a blob of mayo.

Chinese food sounds wonderful! We have one nice Chinese restaurant in our town, so I think I will get Chinese food soon. You made me hungry for it.

Happy Sunday! I am home and trying to recover before going back to work tomorrow.
It sounds like you had a great vacation and warm weather. My daughter and her friend flew back Sunday from Sanibel Island, but not to LaGuardia, LOL.
second floor of building 6 at the French Quarter.
We absolutely LOVE POFQ. We would always stay there when we went to WDW. It's such a gorgeous and relaxing place to just wander around. The food court was always good, and the boat to DS was convenient.
We ended the night watching Fantasmic.
We've had terrible luck with trying to see Fantasmic. Storms one time and was closed for some reason when we tried again. We did finally get to see it and it was great.
We had a late lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern.
We did the Keys to the Kingdom tour a while ago. It was very informative and fun. We also ate at the Columbia Harbor House. I would do it again, if I ever go back to WDW. Not in the cards right now.
Today we had breakfast at the hotel and then went to MK for the Keys to the Kingdom
see above, oops!

Hi Carole:
So glad your Mom had a wonderful birthday with all the family:) Those photos of the water and beach at your hotel are just beautiful.
We don't celebrate St. Pat's but the town does have the short parade as I told Charade. It's done for fun and everyone makes a big deal about walking across the street in all their green finery. No, I've never done it.

We got lucky with our storm and only had 5 to 6 inches of the white stuff. We were lucky as a lot of people had horrific storms in the South. I remember those nights of worrying and being up due to the tornado alerts. At least we don't get those up here:)

Robin and her friend flew back home yesterday. They missed the horrible weather and tornados by one day. She said it was a great flight. She came back with a sunburn, but very happy being a beach bum! They stayed on the beach or by the pool all the time and soaked in the sun. They are lucky that they flew back on Sunday, as the tornadoes and storms were all day Saturday.

Not much going on here. We are watching Tangled. Such a cute show. Then I will work on the never ending jacket, LOL.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

I may be the only person who never heard this joke, until today

I may never make another icing, so versatile
That’s looks really good
She still has the autograph books we got her when she was 7
Aw, so sweet. I felt really old when one of my kid’s friends told me that her kids use her WDW autograph book she had when a little
Trash at curb
Ours is tonight, I’m going to use this as a reminder going forward. It was Friday am for decades here, I just can’t get used to it.
The song we got was Disco Inferno
My fav on that ride
Despite my best efforts I managed to get a blister on the side of my left foot
Do u use body glide stuff for chafing? I swear by it, not just on me feet
I am so in love with this resort now.
The theming is indeed lovely & those corner rooms are cute. Although we never opened the shutters because of the walkways lol. I think the thing I like best about it is how small it is. None of the rooms are more than a few min from lobby, boat, parking/bus
I will definitely do this show again.
We do it every July 3rd with the little since our first solo trip with her 10 years ago
then went to MK for the Keys to the Kingdom tour.
Another goodie. Although my youngest DS said it scarred him for life when he saw Woody take off his head backstage lol
I think I see compression socks in my future.
I have a collection, courtesy of amazon
This is my backyard today. This is not my tree.
Tell your neighbors to come collect their tree lol. Good thing it wasn’t closer to any structures
Had a wonderful weekend, mum’s celebration was fabulous, we all had such a lovely time and yes, she was queen for the day.
I’ve decided she’s an Empress! Glad to hear it went well, welcome home
If I’m going to pay that much for Pop, CB can be just as cheap.
I’ve never warmed up to Pop, just not disney themed enough for me. If I’m at a value looking at huge icons, give me Donald Duck, Mickey in a pinch. Always wander over to AoA to get our fix of that and the food court seems a notch above. TBH, I’m a ASMu girl for the three amigos pool.
I don’t know if I can stand a Florida summer.
I said that our first year with then 4 y.o. GD in tow. Have been back every 4th of July since :). It’s not the heat, it’s not the humidity, it’s the real feel. Our worst was 111 a couple of years ago. You just go in the am, retreat to pool and back for dinner, then later hours as it cools off.
Oh no, don't tell me there are a lot of calories in the graham cracker crust! I like to live in oblivion, lol.
IDK re that one. The pastry one is scary high and full of fat
We lucked out and only got about 5 or 6 inches of snow.
That is the most optimistic statement I’ve heard in a long time lol. Good for you1
Your soda bread looks wonderful, and homemade too? I bought a new bread machine and really love it, but I wish I could do it by hand.
Yes, my very own recipe I’ve adapted over the years. Was interesting yesterday, as quite humid with the storms going thru, had to add almost an extra cup of flour to it until the dough started to pull away from the bowl.

I’m big on bread machine but do it by hand, it’s so quick and easy to mix. Will send a copy off to you.
My daughter and her friend flew back Sunday from Sanibel Island,
Talk about a shock to her system! Did she have a great time?

Heading home soon but we managed some gorgeous early morning pics of my favourite place in the UK!
Beautiful pictures.

We got lucky with our storm and only had 5 to 6 inches of the white stuff.
Glad you didn’t get as much as predicted.

Do u use body glide stuff for chafing? I swear by it, not just on me feet
I used Vaseline on my heels. It worked really well on my last Universal trip. Whenever I get a blister it is always in the exact same place.

Another goodie. Although my youngest DS said it scarred him for life when he saw Woody take off his head backstage lol
We saw Pluto without his head and other characters in various states of dress. They were preparing for the parade.

Tell your neighbors to come collect their tree lol. Good thing it wasn’t closer to any structures
I’m surprised they haven’t said anything to us yet.

We’ve stayed at Pop twice. I really liked the theming, but we have had rooms far from the bus stop. We stayed at AoA once in the Little Mermaid rooms. I do not recommend that. The walk to the lobby seemed to get longer each day.

Work was stressful and exhausting today. There must have been at least a dozen new people wanting to schedule therapy. I swear people seem to know when I’m not in the office. That’s when they all call. My boss also tried posting payments and managed to mess some of that up. I have no idea what she was trying to do.
I asked dh if we could book our bounce back offer for next week and not return home.
