Something About Nothing............ #14

Florida weather forecasters are hilarious. 38 degree low and they call it POLAR. Still in shorts and flip flops but will probably wear a hoodie. Christmas is supposed to be 70 with chance of a sprinkle. If it looks like a real rain, I'll have to set up an awning or tent for the smokers. Happy heading back to longer days day.

Our friends leave on Tuesday night, they said it`s the coldest December they`ve had in over 20 years of going at this time.

I don`t think I`d be in shorts like you, but definitely a hoodie lol......hope it stays nice for your event though, shame when weather affects things.

About to put on White Christmas, then later, Alastair Sim`s Scrooge, our favourite version.

A day of snacking, old movies and not much else, dinner will be snacks too, and glad to be in as it is blowing a hoolie out there now.

Glass of fizz time......well it is Christmas!!! Think Tom is opening a bottle right now.....🥂

4 kinds of cookies, our holiday nuggets looked so perfect. Our mom would have been happy to see them. Taking a food break, as the last of the sugar cookies bake. Then, onto the chocolate pretzel making.

Hey all, I’m back in black

Wanted to comment, re pictures taken on iPhones…getting messages they are “too large” to post. Apologies for need to take a pic of my pics and post as they seem to be a bit blurry. Need to work on the settings to convert here I guess???

Hope you had a good one!

My friend D who I met a few years ago in the Club Lounge is his tour manager
Have a friend has been obsessed with him since day one lol. I (sorta) kid when I say she probably has a restraining order
It makes pt's laugh and smile when they see me.
That is sweet to read

Two of our friends have been in Orlando a couple of weeks now and are there every year for just under a month and they are saying this is the coldest they have felt this time of year in 22 years of going. Glad we pass on December now.
It was Floridia cold indeed first week. Only one day could we venture out in tshirts during the day…that was a first. Still, getting ready to try to book DVC portion of next year’s “xmas” trip in early December…like childbirth…will forget soon enough lol
I didn’t know you were in Florida and now in mouse land!
I didn’t know you were back in florida

Sweet!
enjoy the good weather and have a great time Lynne!
Yea for Lynne woot !!!

I guess I missed the memo …but yay for you!
Good for Lynne!
I could not believe this was the same person.
That’s very nice to read, good for him
Last bit of news - the day after Christmas dh and I are traveling to North Carolina to meet his possible sister. She only lives a little over 2 hours from us. Dh is very nervous about this.
He is very brave to put himself out there like that. Hope it works out well for him connecting with extended family.
looking forward to it as it is a good and genuine pampering session indeed!!!
That sounds great to me. There are times when that break is just what I need for a couple of hours to decompress from normal hustle & bustle of life
our milkman leaves us the same amount twice a week,
There are still milkmen in existence? No way, that is very cool. I remember having a silver milk box on the front porch when a kid
Janet hope you all enjoyed your cruise.
Overall, it was lovely. Would be difficult to moan, as a new ship, 2nd largest there is and we upgraded to this cabin :)

IMG_6424.jpeg
Except it was cold, we didn’t get to stick a toe in the ocean as we missed our beach stops due to weather front coming thru & I came home with norovirus lol

Thankfully, indoor adult only solarium where we spent most of our days chillin’, literally

IMG_6422.jpeg
Interrupted by meals and shows, galore

Definitely got our seafood fix on the ship. The welcome aboard lunch in the buffet
IMG_4873.jpeg
Speciality dining restaurant, oy oy yummy oysters!

IMG_6427.jpeg
Last night in the buffet again, almost ate our weight in dungess crab claws :)

Do love RCCL’s aqua-shows, very talented performers all around

Woot! Never cannot be plotting and scheming to wrangle a trip or two or more, in the next year.
Haha, you make planning your trips sound nefarious, enjoy!
Kyle is in London with work this week, he sent us pics of his hotel yesterday, looks very nice!!! He`s back Friday night and that`s him off work for Christmas and he doesn`t go back till Jan 6th, they get a nice long break with this company.
Ooh, that is a nice long break for him!
But festive office we are, with some pictures from my office floor and door:
That certainly brightens up that space nicely. Like the grinch theme
The last push to have pt's that only have a few treatments to be completed by Dec 24.
So much hustle and bustle end of year & people trying to squeeze in procedures under their HSAs here & current insurance coverage.

I won a prize in the Christmas Raffle…..a meal out at a local restaurant that is nice, the are mainly known for steaks, will go in the new year.
That’s a nice one to win
And waved to the workers in the building. lol

Blinds closed now.
That’s NYC for you, good thing you noticed they could possibly peep
This time of year is just dreadful, we definitely avoid crowds where we can, it`s not fun, so limiting crowd time is always a good idea. Staying home today sounds like a plan.
I was not happy today to receive grocery order and realize they substituted keto sugar substitute I need to bank my oldest DS cookies with keto chocolate chips. In what world is that equivalent? They also forgot the jar of peanut butter. Charged me for both while they were at it too. Wound up running to the store around noon, on a non football sunday, close to Christmas. Whatazoo
Happy Winter Solstice
Right back at you. It’s all downhill from here lol. How are you feeling?
Florida weather forecasters are hilarious. 38 degree low and they call it POLAR.
Seriously, they are probably excited to have something new to comment upon but, the doom & gloom on the news when we were there over a bit of cold weather struck us funny

Love the pictures Janet, especially those seafood ones!!!

The ship sounds fabulous, love the balcony and that view was beautiful. I do think the entertainment always sounds very good on these cruises.

The cold has been a theme this December, everyone there has said the same thing, Heather and Peter said the same thing as you though....they`ll still book for next December and forget how cold it was this year lol.....

Yes, we have a local milkman, small set up but he is busy and has plenty of customers, I do like the traditional set up, you pay more for the milk but it`s worth it. And yes they still do glass bottles for the pints of milk, larger ones come in typical plastic containers. They also do cream, cheese, yoghurts and so on, plenty of veg too and all from a farm about 20 miles from us.

I know nothing of Keto, have heard of it from a couple of folks, but I would have to research alternatives for folks!! Running to the store at busy times is not ideal, yes, zoo is the word and folks go crazy, you`d never know the stores only close for one day.....and even then, there are stores open on Christmas Day.

Yes, some folks are still working today and some even finish tomorrow, but to finish and have that long break for him is fabulous. One of my Godchildren has started a job within the last few months and complains she only gets five weeks plus stats a year, I told her it could be worse and related what some American friends have for vacation time!!! She began to feel not so hard done to at that point. She plans next year to become a lecturer in Biology at a University once she gets her PhD in May, clever girl who will go far.

He`s almost worked for them for 3 years now, that has gone so quickly!!!

I admit, I only know a couple of Rick Springfields songs, well, I know more now, but I never realised how busy he still is and yes, incredibly popular, there are folks as you described though lol.....

Long and relaxing salon visits are the best!! I know some folks are in and out in 40 minutes or so, that`s not so pampering, but it is a nice little treat!

Glad to see you back, you have been missed!!

first time i saw your pics janet
bet you had a fabulous time!

have missed seeing you!

Good to see you too mac!

How`s your weather now, hopefully it`s still decent!!!

Chilly and windy this morning, sunshine will appear which will be nice, tomorrow looks decent for travelling in too, but we will drive into rain by the time we get to the hotel and probably once we hit the border too.

Someone rather nice sent me this last night, I thought it was so appropriate and I had never seen it before ❤️

We do need to go out this morning, going to brave a grocery store but we only need a couple of things so should be in and out in no time. We use the Scan and Go machines so they generally are much faster than going through a checkout.

Have a couple of presents to drop off, another gift for Kyle arrived yesterday so I`ll get that wrapped and then I`m absolutely done with all of that. But will be glad to get the small amount of shopping we need to do out of the way and back home.

Poached eggs and bacon this morning, last portion of my butternut squash soup for lunch and a chicken and leek pie for dinner, winter warming dishes all round right now. Will bake some bread when we get back in this morning to go with the soup.

Time to go wake sleeping beauty, I doubt we`ll get out as early as we planned, already enjoyed some tea, will get a large pot going when we come down after we`re showered and dressed, I`m quite hungry this morning, I blame the cold outside.

Ho-Ho-Ho....have a lovely Monday!!!

Woke up at 3:00 and can’t get back to sleep. Caspian has decided that we all need to be awake.

Had a fun day yesterday. Dh and I went to a show at our local historic theater. It was a tribute to Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis. Very high energy. I was enjoying watching other people at the show. There were 2 older ladies on my row who seemed to be having the time of their lives. They had such big smiles on their faces. There was an older gentleman in one of the box seats who kept standing up and dancing. I hadn’t originally wanted to go to this show but i’m glad I did.

Hope you had a good one!
Thank you. Love the sloth!

I came home with norovirus lol
One of the reasons I am afraid to go on a cruse. Aside from that, it looks like you had a wonderful time.

I am going to try to get back to sleep. I have to work today.

Ah maybe Caspian was batting around my DH’s glasses as he was up at 3 am this morning too, Charade. Lol, as that god early hour, he dropped his glasses as he got back into bed, and they bounced under our bed. He went and turned the light on, and loudly complained he couldn’t reach where they were. So, I got up, and retrieved them. Then I tried to get back to sleep. Like you, not so much. But no matter, fired up my work laptop 10 minutes early. Sounds like you had a great musical night.

Monday it is. And a short day for me, as decide to make it so, given two holiday days, with my also lazy day scheduled Thursday, and my always lazy Friday this week. Woot! Holidays are here.

Got home early evening last night. With a huge bag of my share of all the cookies and chocolate pretzels and marshmallows we made yesterday. Think we may get into some today, and we made boxes for older one to drop off to two of his friends he wanted to gift them with. And lucky, as he took this week off too, so soon enough, this will be a totally lazy house.

Great cruise pictures, Janet. Family is slowly thinking of sailing again one of these days. Since our virus canceled our last scheduled cruise, we have yet to schedule one. We did a mid January cruise a few years ago, and because of a cold front, no swimming in two of the three ports we visited. The third, seemed too cold to want to swim there either. Always the chance of cool weather so no swimming, when in the Caribbean in the winter months.

Ah, tea from my teapot filed by my tea kettle’s water. So quiet on the laptop, and the house right now. Well, except for the sound of a car alarm, and the trash trucks, with loud traffic heard outside. And a fire whistle and fire trucks heard not that long ago too.

Marvelous Monday. With now two sleeps to go, when then wake up, its Christmas morning.

:santa: ::yes::

I must admit those names wouldn`t inspire me to go see it, I hate Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis, but we did once go to a 50`s night expecting to not really enjoy it and it was actually a lot of fun, so I know what you mean about being glad you went.

Hope you got back to sleep and had a good day at work.

Got a surprise early call from my dentist this morning, I had thought now it would be new years before I got the final implant done, but I had the appointment just before lunchtime and fitting went well and looks good!!! I`m really happy with the fit and look of it. It`s a long process but so worth it.

I`d recommend dental implants for anyone even just to give your teeth a better look, I got mine due to crowns that couldn`t be replaced anymore, but I would do it for other reasons too. Expensive, but worth it.

We passed by a main road that heads to one of the main outlet centres closest to where we were on the way home and the lines were crazy to get that way!! Glad we had no need to go their or any need to shop anymore today, got what we needed this morning before the dentist.

Change of plan for dinner though, due to going to the dentist, never got to make my pastry, so dinner tonight is more snack food. We have Indian and Chinese snack items in the fridge, will make a meal with some dips, olives and spicy doritos, nice for a change.

Late afternoon pot of tea as dinner won`t be till later, we`ve spent the afternoon making sure we`re organised, watched a movie and generally enjoyed not doing very much!!! It`s cold outside and pouring down with rain, glad to be in!

Tea is ready......my husband does make a lovely pot of tea 😊

Happy Christmas Eve! Or as we call it in our house, dh’s birthday. This afternoon we will be making the 2 hour drive to Richmond to go to an Italian restaurant that he likes. We are having an early dinner because there aren’t many restaurants open today and those that are close early.

Ah maybe Caspian was batting around my DH’s glasses as he was up at 3 am this morning too, Charade. Lol, as that god early hour, he dropped his glasses as he got back into bed, and they bounced under our bed. He went and turned the light on, and loudly complained he couldn’t reach where they were
I can so relate to this. If I drop my glasses I am like Velma from Scooby Doo.

Great that they were able to get you in. I can possibly see this in dh’s future. I think at least half of his teeth currently have crowns.

I need to go make a pie for Christmas dinner.

the newer, existing 50 inch one, going to one of my DS friends family, they've been going thru hard times for a few years but, not the sorts to complain.

when cleaning our garage this summer, found a gently used bike we had bought to teach GD to ride She had growth spurt in a few months and outgrew it. You'd have thot that family won the lottery when it was dropped off

Yes, some folks are still working today and some even finish tomorrow
My youngest DS is 'enjoying' his recent promotion at work by working three, consecutive 13 hour days including today & Christmas

ugh

need to figure out when I'm dropping him food to eat for tomorrow want to see him open his presents too.

i'm the sort who enjoys gifting vs opening them, which makes me a bit uncomfortable for some reason
Glad to see you back, you have been missed!!
thank you:)
we will drive into rain by the time we get to the hotel and probably once we hit the border too.
safe trip!

don't think I posted, went to annual TSO concert last Saturday. drive into the city took double the time due to snow squalls

A chocolate peanut butter pie. My favorite.

Ah, Costco run less an hour after it opened. Score. Not too far a parking space, and with older one my pilot, we did not spend much time shopping. But did get what I came for, and he bought stuff for him. Then dropped off presents to my sister. Picked up hot coffee, and was glad to see the sun and warmer weather by the time we came home. Got snow, and for our Christmas Day, we get to enjoy freezing rain and snow in the morning hours. But as the temp will climb out of it’s below freezing starting the day, by lunchtime. Glad, as we tend to go nowhere tomorrow morning.

Then hehe, older one said since many places closing early today, let’s have Chinese for dinner tonight. Fine by me.

One more sleep. Woot! Christmas 🎄 has seem to come so fast this year.

Just wanted to pop in quick before we headed to dd house for our Xmas Extravaganza!!!! I think I have everything ready to go now. Dh is just having a quick nap so that he doesn't want to head to bed by 7:30

Still feeling pretty crappy. Called in sick to work yesterday and today. I just don't think it's worth being around immunocompromised people. I seem to be hacking up a lung most of the time :crazy2:. and the nose won't stop dripping. I am hoping by Friday, I'm feeling better. I have 2 more days of rest to get myself feeling better so that I can get back to work. I don't know what the protocol is for being off more than one or two days. I have lots of sick time accumulated. So hopefully no sick notes are needed.

Happy Christmas Eve everyone.
Hope all your holidays are blessed.
We're finishing up dinner prep. We grill out tomorrow afternoon with family any orphans who can't make it home or who need a break. We call it BYOB ( Bring Your Own Beef )
Heading to SW next week. Making sure we are free for the EPIC AP soft opening announcements and chaos to follow.

Pumpkin, sending mummy dust well wishes out your way. I hope you feel better soon.

Enjoy your cook out tomorrow, DJ. Have fun at the parks next week. Yeah, we booked Epic days in early September. We are coming next year before that end of May opening. Though early enough, doubt we will get to enjoy any soft opening.

Ooh time for dinner. Roads are still very busy.

Love the memes! And very kind of you to help folks out like that, they’ll appreciate it I’m sure.

Success brings its own trials……I’m sure you’ll make sure he’s well fed and once he’s done working I hope he gets some nice rest time! Yes, it’s much nicer watching folks open their gifts especially ones kids!

Oh my experience with dental implants has been nothing but positive, I’d honestly recommend them to anyone who I thinks their teeth could look better, I love them!

Thanks, we had a good journey up, roads were almost deserted, think everyone travelled yesterday or are still shopping!!!

Happy Christmas to you and yours DJ, hope the weather holds up for your gathering tomorrow!

Made it up to Scotland in nice time today due to not bad weather and quiet roads, rooms were ready when we checked in a little early, sea view but not much to see due to low grey cloud.

We all snoozed them picked mum up and went for dinner to our favourite place up here, beautiful meal and nice to just enjoy our time together.

Back to the bar in the hotel, had a drink and now back in our room watching Beetlejuice.

Up reasonably early tomorrow as we’re going to watch Kyle run just after breakfast, it’s a beachfront run of 5K, then back the ten minutes to our hotel, maybe a walk along the beach here, our hotel sits right on the beach and then get ready for the rest of Christmas Day with mum, my sister and her kids and daughter in law. Will be a tough one without my lovely brother in law , but we’re a close family, we’ll get through it.

And not too cold at all, so it’ll be quite pleasant weather if the cloud clears! Although just opened the bedroom window and plan to fall asleep listening to the sea rumble against the beach, very relaxing!

Have a Happy Christmas!!

I should be asleep but Caspian has decided that he wants to wait up for Santa. I hope he settles down soon.

Dinner tonight was fantastic. The waitress asked if we were celebrating anything somwe told her it was dh’s birthday. She said that hers is the 26th. Both the food and service were outstanding. We ordered tiramisu and some lemon cookies to go. When the waitress brought the bill she said the desserts were complimentary and she also comped our appetizer. I gave her a large tip and also wrote happy birthday to her on the bill. When we got home we discovered she had given us 10 cookies. It was only supposed to be 6.

Pumpkin - I really hope you are feeling better today and can enjoy some festivities.

I am really hoping that Universal will offer a soft opening for AP holders and I will be able to go. B didn’t renew her AP, so I guess it will be a solo trip for me. Dh is upset that he hasn’t been to Universal since my 50th birthday, so I have booked a room for us for January of 2026. He doesn’t have to be back at work until January 12 that year, so we will have some time to go.

Caspian has settled down so I am going to get some sleep.

Merry Christmas everyone!

merry Christmas everyone’

Hope you all got some gifts from santa and no one got coal in their stockings!
( that would not be nice)

We did not decorate for santa this year.
find it still too hard to celebrate anything this year since my brother passed
I think next year we will be in better mind set and enjoy the holidays and renew the joy of life, celebrate Christmas and do presents etc
We did not go to the church services today or send out cards or exchange gifts with anyone this year
just did not have it in me when brother
died this year
I think I can handle it next year.

Time has a way to take away grief.

Next year we will decorate, send out cards and move forward.
I was kind of hoping to get a holiday card this year but it did not happen and that was was fine.

Made me learn that life goes on and next year I plan to move forward and not dwell in the past.

I plan to bake a small hen and move forward Christmas is a lovely time
so promised Mr Mac we would start new tomorrow and would have a decent chicken dinner
Next year no chicken but a real turkey dinner with all the traditional sides with it.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Hugs, Mac. Time does heal, and the sweet memories will always be in your heart.

Charade, how nice that meal was last night. Hope Caspian let you sleep late this morning.
