Something About Nothing............ #14

Charade, you’re right ribbon looks so much better, I’m really glad I took the time to do them all. We did have to search for the ribbon too, Tom put it somewhere safe!

Enjoy your game and new boots too!! One of the nicer parts of winter is new boots and coats!

Had a slightly disturbed sleep, but woke up to 50mph winds and snow this morning, so yep, we turned over and went back to sleep, no need to get up when it`s like that out there, so yep, we enjoyed a lovely late sleep then lovely, lazy breakfast cooked by my lovely husband!!

Glad we both drink tea, saves making tea and coffee.

Sitting in Kyle’s place right now, we came over mid afternoon, they’ve popped out to get some Chinese takeout food for us, thankfully rain, sleet, snow and high winds have all dissipated and it’s not too bad out there.

Time to set the table they won’t be long till they’re back.

Happy Saturday :)

Hey all! Busy end of the week, last couple of days helping with youngest DS’s Friendsgiving. Does the traditional Thanksgiving meal & then some. He had over 30 people show up tonight. Yikes indeed. No idea how he seats that many. Going to gently suggest he pare the menu/do a buffet vs sit down. While he’s at it, maybe prune the guest list next year

Dawned on me too late I should’ve just made double side dishes and frozen, pulling them out on Thanksgiving to reheat lol. Going to be challenging this year, have 2 pp on Keto diet. Know ham & turkey good. Thinking of a 2nd version of green beans with bacon & mushrooms, the 1st version has cheez whiz dumped on it lol. A monstrosity my DS do love.

We wound up having up to 77 mph winds during our November tornado. More than a bit of damage to many, lots of xmas decorations gone with the wind. The Mr secured ours ahead of time or brought them inside. We’ve learned the hard way with loose items in a storm

Wrapped every Xmas present I’ve accumulated today, took hours. Tomorrow, need to get up the mantle & large shelve decorations. Going to assign the mr to vacuum the various steps. The one cleaning job I truly detest for some reason.

Re the EPIC tix, even tho PH, annoying to not currently be able to buy a single day tix for a family member, too. We are going to wait it out, starting to think that the Saturday we want (the one before the 4th of July) may just beillusive.

I called U the week after HHN was over to request a refund for the HHN nights we missed, due to my illness (which they happily refunded, shocker!)

While processing, chatted as to buying single date Epic tix. The TM confirmed only for “activated” PH. I hadn’t heard that distinction in the past.

He indicated he still could see plenty of availability thru the summer. His prediction = that 2025 fall thru Xmas would be the big rush. We shall see.

Prices go up every month
True, best to jump before the inevitable bursting of the bubble.
but it would involve a one hour layover in LaGuardia
I’d check the on past on-time flight performance
Keisha, sadly, but I think status quo for DH, as long as he lives, no driving, and needing to be watched over whenever he is moving
Aw, sorry, that had to be very difficult to hear and to adjust to the changes. Wishing you all the best.
I could go on, some are very clever.
That is a riot
couldn`t get a decent picture though without being arrested lol. But it does make you think.
Truly
Chocolate Oranges are available here all year round
Lucky you!
Did you get your tree up?
I managed the main one and a smaller 2nd one…a side piece (as my one DS so eloquently dubbed it :rolleyes1, wasn’t able to stifle a laugh TBH).
There are just not watching things closely enough on those cars.
One of the reasons we have avoided flying on Allegiant into SFB is the repeated issues with vehicle maintenance.

Most of it cosmetic, broken seats etc. does seem as tho they tend to get older vehicles. They run so lean & have far less inventory of vehicles than MCO. Has made it difficult to outright decline the assignment for a minor issue when there is no replacement in your category. Especially, the mini vans & SUVs

I was able to bring hubby home Tuesday afternoon. He is glad to be home and I’am glad to have him home.

We are waiting to hear how daughter in law MRI went. Praying things will heal and no surgery will be needed
Great news for you. Hoping your DiL, will feel better soon too. Such a freak thing for her to go thru.
She passed away in her sleep. A person can't ask for a better way to pass away.
So true, my sympathies.
I'm waiting to hear how much fun dd had tonight. She and son-in-law are in Toronto for Taylor S tonight. I'm hoping she had a FANTSTIC time, and can't wait to hear all her tales
I’ve yet to hear a single person express regrets over attending any of her concerts.
Well, off to dream and check out some potential vacation spots.
Those are sweet dreams :)
Pumpkin come over to my house for dinner!
I made a whole lot of chicken salad.
Be sure to bring a friend as I made too much and don’t want chicken salad for the next 4 days.

just saying……..
Chicken salad

Are we talking a salad with grilled (or fried) chicken breast sliced on top or the chopped chicken in mayo sort.

Here, nearly everyone associates the term “chicken salad” with the 1st option. Surprising to me, I automatically think of the latter. Don’t eat it more than a couple times of year but, it does hit the spot when hankering for it. Same with tuna salad, which i prefer.
My problem is that I never can seem to find the ribbon I purchased the previous year. One day I will probably find it all.
Seriously, somewhere in my home lurks a lot of ribbon & yarn.

Don`t laugh, I can name one song Taylor Swift sings, but I have never heard so many folks talk about how amazing her shows are, everyone who has seen her raves about her performance and how good she is to fans. Good to hear she deserves her popularity.

Here, chicken salad is usually a cold piece of cooked chicken on the plate with an assortment of salad, always the basics and for most folks, coleslaw on the plate and various other options. Same if you order a tuna salad or ham, turkey even cold roast beef slices. First time I ordered a shrimp salad I wondered what the heck they were giving me!! I quite liked it though.

Yes, I think although your boy does an amazing job with his Thanksgiving celebrations, with the amount of folks he hosts, a buffet would be easier or yes, cut the numbers. But such fun for them to have a get together like that. When Kyle had his housewarming party for friends, I hinted a buffet would be a good choice, he laughed and said as there were a lot of folks coming, it was never going to be anything else!! Although I knew then I would be drafted to help, and enjoyed it too. But I do admire your son doing such a meal every year.

That weather would have been a shock, glad you had no damage and saved the outdoor decorations. Good job on the wrapping!!! I do need to get a wiggle on with those, still waiting on a few things ordered a while back, need to chase them up on those if they haven`t arrived by next weekend.

Had a lovely day yesterday with Kyle and Chinese food was good, sat till around 10pm then came home and weather was weirdly mild, almost warm. Kyle said he was coming over to our place about 7am to do a run that takes him along the shore front and would be fiished about 9, he said he wouldn`t come in at 7......glad as we were still sleeping!!!

But we got up around 8am to see almost a typhoon style rain, his car was there so we knew he was out running!!! Crazy. He came back at 9 soaked to the bone, the forecast had showed light rain apparently. He had a shower and got into dry clean clothes and now we`re watching the Vegas GP. It`s miserable outside so no plans to go out.

I have some shin of beef in the slow cooker with ale, stock, garlic, onions, herbs and spices and will have that with some creamy mash tonight and cauliflower and carrots, just the two of us as Kyle has plans, but we`ll see him all this week as he is coming to Scotland with us this week for my brother in law`s cremation, we come home Thursday and on Friday we`ll be with him all day too.

Nice of his work to give him the week off though. And he does another marathon next weekend too, hence the training today, he ran 22 miles and didn`t even look out of breath!

Putting some of our trees up this afternoon, the big one in that stands in the hall we`ll keep till next weekend, but wil do the 2nd biggest and the smaller ones, will get the lights on them but leave the actual decorations till next week. The outdoor one our gardener will put up while we`re away along with the lights on the house.

Lazy, hazy Sunday for us with fresh pots of tea all day I think. And this time next week it`ll be December 😲

Have a lovely Sunday :-)

Pooh blustery day, as was yesterday. 51 the high, but wind makes it feeling like 38. Yes, that 28 mph winds will chill ya some. But at least that all day rainy Friday, has been replaced with a glorious sunshine filled weekend.

Off to a sister visit, after I get DH out of the bathroom. Now all have enjoyed a morning shower or bath. Pants and my lightweight winter jacket. And will be rocking those sunglasses

Sunday is here. Alarm on, and trash to curb in the evening. Yes, our usual Sunday events. And the stop for coffee on our way.

Good Morning on this Sunday before our Thanksgiving this week. Woot! Black Friday this Friday. Let that holiday fun begin, with the parking lots full of cars when you are not early enough or late enough. Hehe.

Ah, that get all out the door now. Iced coffee oh need it. Later all.

Quick weekend stop in

Dh and his sister made it to their destination. A person has to love driving the prairies in the winter. They drove about 6 hours through a good 'ole prairie snow storm :sad2: He sent me pictures of him helping his brother dig out from the snow. They got a good dump.

We got at least 6 inches overnight on Friday - so dh made sure to move that away before he left. Poor guy, two days of heavy snow removal lol. Good thing for snow blowers ::yes::

I sat and did NOTHING yesterday. I did go pick up my grocery order of baking supplies - and had planned to maybe whip up some either some cookies or some fresh pasta - but laziness kicked in and I am almost all caught up on the Yellowstone series . I seemed the like the perfect way to spend a cold snowy day at home.

Today - I've got bread rising in the oven ready to bake. Next up is to use the nanners and make some muffins and loaves for us and send some over to dd. Then I would like to try to make for homemade cheese filled pasta. Now that I've finally got some time to spend - I can spend extra time doing some of the things I want to on weekends - instead of always catching up since we were always travelling so much.

I'm trying NOT to leave the house today - but we will see how that goes.

I made a whole lot of chicken salad.
Yum!!!!!!!!!! I love chicken done anyway!
Had a slightly disturbed sleep, but woke up to 50mph winds and snow this morning, so yep, we turned over and went back to sleep, no need to get up when it`s like that out there, so yep, we enjoyed a lovely late sleep then lovely, lazy breakfast cooked by my lovely husband!!
ewwwwwwwwwww. I know that one well. I am following a few " Brits living their first Canadian winters " I am loving it!!!! They are embracing it and love seeing them experiencing it through their eyes. They are brave to move here and experience the canadian cold.
Dawned on me too late I should’ve just made double side dishes and frozen, pulling them out on Thanksgiving to reheat lol. Going to be challenging this year, have 2 pp on Keto diet. The doubling sounds like a great idea to save for next year. And there is nothing wrong with a little cheez whiz every now and then :rolleyes1 I LOVE to eat the butt of a warm fresh loaf of bread with a good slather of cheez whiz on it
Nice of his work to give him the week off though. And he does another marathon next weekend too, hence the training today, he ran 22 miles and didn`t even look out of breath!
WOW...that's freaking amazing!!!!!

There was another woman there who got really mad because she had driven over an hour to get there. She stated that HL had lost a customer. Um….maybe call before driving that far. I’m going to try again this afternoon. I’ll call first even though I live only a few minutes away.
I think the whole world is crazy. People lashing out at others like that. It should be mandatory for people to have to work 60 days of retail work every 5 years. So you don't forget how to treat others who are in customer service. I hope your errands day went good.

Well, it's almost time to put the bread into the oven.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Not quite, however, I did festoon my own Godzilla with reindeer antlers. I tend to decorate a bit outside the box in our den where I stuff all the off-the-wall presents our DSs buy us. Full disclosure, I am fond that monster lol.

But such fun for them to have a get together like that.
He shoo’d them out after midnight, very little left overs and both the red sangria and hot cider/rum punch I made vanished. He was supposed to come over today, begged off, said he was going to sit on couch with the cats and watch football all day.
glad as we were still sleeping!!!
That is an early weekend run, especially in inclement weather
we`ll see him all this week
Sadly, not under the best of circumstances. Times like that makes you appreciate family pulling together to support each other.
If we didn’t like it, we learned to eat it.
my parents house rule was we had to try “it”. As in a full meal. If we didn’t want it going forward, there was always the alternative menu: peanut butter & white bread, of which I am quite fond of, probably from eating it so often.

I like my chicken salad pretty much the same way…Hellman’s, celery and either chopped pickles or dried cranberries tossed into the mix. Has to be on basic white bread, not a bun.
Woot! Black Friday this Friday.
I’ve been hitting up the early deals, hoping WM+ rolls out video games on the wish lists I have. Last year the savings were enough to more than cover the membership in one day.

Weather forecast to be rough here that day, may just do my shopping on the internet.
We got at least 6 inches overnight on Friday
That’s a lot of snow in my book
I LOVE to eat the butt of a warm fresh loaf of bread with a good slather of cheez whiz on it
There are very few things that cheez whiz can’t make better … except a steak hoagie…just say no to ‘wit. Lol

I got the pasta made - but tossed it into the freezer to whop up tomorrow night. Ds's came home tonight after dog sitting at dd house while they were in Toronto for TS. Older ds picked up something on his way home. So, I'll make the pasta tomorrow. We cleaned up on one loaf of bread. I may need to whip up a couple more tomorrow night

I am not ready to go into work tomorrow already. I blinked and the weekend was over :sad2: and it doesn't help it's now into the big winter jacket phase of winter with more snow happening now. Ds plugged in all the vehicles to make sure they will start tomorrow. This is the part of winter I really dislike.

Well, off to write a bit more of the trip report.

Have a great evening everyone.
