Something About Nothing............ #14

carole -It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. on apple tv

A Charlie Brown Christmas will be available to stream for free on Apple TV+this year on Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15. Even better, no subscription to Apple TV+ is required to enjoy it.

my girls hunkered down already, GD so excited to finally be old enough to do her first wdw 1/2 marathon tomorrow.

started grocery shopping today for the upcoming holidays. found a 1/2 ham & 2 more turkey breasts for the freezer

picked up ingredients to make two more cream soups on Monday. no solid food for a couple of days after procedure next week. i will probably manage to gain weight

tomorrow heading to carpet store to help DS pick out a bound one for a BR he's turning into a gaming area.

that afternoon, grilling tbones for my three sons :). no girls allowed...cook doesn't count lol

charade thats a cute countdown

mac let's hope nobody gets a splinter, the workers might disappear for days. good help is hard to find

Good luck to your GD and DiL today, how exciting the little one can do her first half marathon!!! She`lldo really well I`m sure.

And boys only steak day, I like the sound of that, and doesn`t get better than T Bones!

Ah Charlie Brown.....weirdly, I have never seen a single episode or CB show it`s not really shown over here, not sure it ever has been shown regularly. I mean we know the name Charlie Brown but not many will know much about it unlike Scooby Doo/Top Cat/Bugs Bunny type of cartoons.

Happy shopping with your boy tomorrow, we loved going shopping with Kyle when he was furnishing his new place, hope he finds what he wants, so many options out there. And happy soup making!!!

will assume no one is up and awake now but just needed to make one last try

Believe I will do what ever i can to fix the issue if possible tonight

first time for me having an issue that i can’t solve quickly
charade I was about to stop dealing with the iphone but did one last try

when i was posting in the boards, iphone did not take the command.
it just sat there like dead weight
turned it off and waited 10 minutes and tried again to post.

No responce again as would not take a command
3rd attempt the iphone did take command

first it stalled and then what I wrote disappeared
started over but it froze again

iphone is only 8 and a half years old

To write all this out Using an older phone of 10 years old which is another T-mobile
don’t use it that much as the iphone is heavy and not light weight.

not fond of the older I phone but at least it takes commands for now.

it’s heavy and runs slow and has the automatic lock if not using it with in a set time frame
and it’s heavy, not light weight

i favor the lighter weight t-mobile phones

Will go to the T-mobile store tomorrow

l never had this issue before.

Never experienced this before so have spent 30 more minutes to start over

iphone is 8 and half years old.
maybe an issue it has aged out?

will go to the t-mobile store tomorrow and get a sharp shooter that knows more than me

i have 3 iphones from t-mobile
May need to switch to the light weight ones

time for me to give the problem a rest
I am just spinning my wheels over this

after church tomorrow will to t-mobile for them to help me.

I can`t help mac, we use androids.

Sounds like you need a new phone, the folks in the store will help you and happy new decking, glad it`s all done and out of the way now.

Good Sunday morning! Not walking this morning although it looks to be ok out there, just starting to get light now but kinda grey at the moment, not a breath though and the sea looks incredibly still rather unusually.

We ended up going out for dinner and drinks last night with some friends, just to the local pub and it was lovely, they have their winter menu now so it`s full of hearty warming dishes and they do amazing pies, I had the chicken and cranberry and Tom went for their venison pie which is a little too rich for me, but their food is lovely. Had a few drinks then came home to watch another horror movie, it was ok.

Toast with bacon this morning, light lunch then Prime Rib for dinner tonight with creamy mash for all that gorgeous gravy, savoy cabbage with mushrooms through it as our veg with carrots. Will eat after the Grand Prix as it has been moved to an earlier time due to horrendous weather, so much rain right now in places.

Spain has been deluged with horrific rain and the images have been horrendous, so many deaths and people missing from it all, pure tragedy.

I think Kyle is coming over after lunch as he`s doing a 20 mile run this morning with some of his running group, so will be nice to spend the day with him again, watch the race and then have dinner together. Made a chocolate cake yesterday, very rich but not a huge one so he can have a slice or two and take some away with him if he wants.

Little bit of housework this morning, going to do the inside of the downstairs back windows, I wish our window cleaner did the insides too!! It`s a job I hate doing but, has to be done.

Hope Ruth is having a wonderful time already with her son in Florida!!!!

Happy Sunday 😊

I don’t understand what you mean by it won’t take commands. Are you typing with your fingers or using the talk to type feature? If it is 8.5 years old it may be time to replace it. At some point I believe Apple stops providing IOS updates for the older phones.

DS picked out a lovely royal blue one from mohawk. was surprised the roll of padding had greatly increased since I bought earlier this year (same store, same product). was told it's due to demand of new construction?

will pop taters in oven soon & make the salad. oldest DS favorite green beans/mushrooms/bacon humming along in crockpot.

iphone batteries only mfg to last 4 years before they start losing their juice. a bit of a racket if you ask me. has nothing to do with actual consumer usage
Prime Rib for dinner
yum
Hope Ruth is having a wonderful time already with her son in Florida!!
me too!
Was using the talk command but think of what you posted, it’s time to replace it.
Thank you for your advice.
i never took to siri, AI & all. turned it off on our phones.

find it annoying on our newer phones that the microphone button on text is too easy to bump and accidently turn on for talk to text. meanwhile, so many people I know love the feature.

apple updates only guaranteed for five years now. their rationale is most customers upgrade annually??? don't know a soul who does that

i never update phone until forced or a big performance or security update. always have norton on everything as it comes with the mr's desktop copy for multiple users

What a superstar you GD is, love the picture!!!party:

Hope they enjoyed it and had a lot of fun and were happy with their time!!

Glad he got sorted with a carpet and sounds like they`ll love the meal you have prepared!

Yes, no Siri or Alexa in this house either, although the amount of times we discuss something and lo and behold something pops up on the ipad regarding what we`ve been discussing! We started to come up with some very outlandish conversations just to see what popped up lol.....

I don`t use the voice for txts or emails, but most of my friends use it, never saw the appeal.

Had a fabulous day today and never really did much of anything, caught up on some things and then Kyle came over mid afternoon for the race which ended up being very eventful if nothing else, enjoyed it though and dinner was beautiful.

Prime Rib is one of our favourite meals, made some buttered veg, creamy mash and a lovely red wine gravy, all gone!

Kyle just left, so, time to empty the dishwasher them some lazy tv watching for us tonight.

Might rewatch the race again lol.....🏎️

There's always a little planned obsolescence built in. Apps will update automatically and not work well in older phones or iterations of the software.
Ticks me off to no end.

:surfweb: Monday already :sad2: I blinked and it was over before it even began.

I got some serious cleaning done this weekend and corners tidied up. Since sil and gd are in their home now - I was able to move things and clean. House is back to normal again. I am hoping to drag out my sewing stuff again - and get to some quilting again. I haven't had much time to do it the last year or more. So I am biting at the bit to get back to some quilting.

Groceries were bought and meals (kind of) planned for the week. I whipped up some pumpkin muffins to snack on all week. I did flub them a bit - as the crumble I topped them with wasn't wet enough. So we will dust them off before eating them :rolleyes2 but they sure are tasty!

We are not iphone users - android here. Youngest ds has an iphone and I don't see him changing anytime soon. My previous google phone I had for 5 years before upgrading. I might upgrade this one - and go back to a google phone. I also get a wicked discount since I'm with our health authority now. So I might upgrade with a lower rate than I'm currently paying - then keep it for a few years. I found my Iphone batteries would suck after about 1-1.5 yrs.

Well, it's almost lunch - and I started this while drinking my morning tea.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Slow day here and I haven’t been on line much today.

Spent most of today cleaning.

Did hit up at T-mobile today.
Phone issue fixed.

Mr Mac back home from his trip and napping.
Even both cats are sleeping on him now.

Pumpkin your house is back to normal!
Probably has been a busy day for you!

We will be going to vote tomorrow!
Hope all of you will be doing it also.

Most likely we will order food from the Choo Choo down the street from us for tonight’s dinner.

Rain was predicted for today but has not happened yet.

Just a very low key day for us.

Hope all are doing well!

Later Gator..

I remember how I would struggle to get back into the groove after vacation when I still worked. You are doing just fine, so much on your plate.

Brand new shiny phone?

Checked that off over a month ago. I do love mail in, easy peasy.

Wish me luck, I’m up to bat @ 6:00 am tomorrow am. A new hospital in the far northern burbs. Anything to avoid the big one in the city that is such a zoo. I should just pull an all-nighter as I’ll be doing nothing but sleeping afterwards lol

All good wishes again Janet, yes, might be worth staying up as you might now sleep anyway.

It`ll be fine, all will go well and you`ll be home before you know it being taken care of expertly by your mister🥰

Bed time here, well almost 😊

Yeah, all electronics have an obsolescence, but does also annoy me with the cell phones one. My favorite iPhone 7 had to be replaced with a 12 a couple of years ago. Like the 12, but really liked the size and bigger looking screen my 7 had.

I too hold into my phone and iPad until they can’t load the updates anymore. I will say though, at least memory has gotten much cheaper than in the past.

Ooh we see an 80 high temp day this week. Yeah, when 38 degrees yesterday’s morning, our AC running house was a little too cool. Turned on the heater at dinnertime last night, nice and warm this morning, with it also being 37 degrees this early morning when I woke up. Hehe, switch to AC probably tomorrow afternoon.

More cloudy today, after wall to wall sunshine weekend. But those clouds are for show, only. No rain in them, as said by weather lady. And since 63 the high, lighter weight pants and a t shirt. Compared to this weekend, when I had a jacket on, and heavier pants and a sweatshirt.

Kids are having fun on their road trip. Texted me in their seats at the hockey game, and I think I saw them on the tv viewing of it.

Cute picture of your GD, Keisha. Hope you are feeling much better today.

Week day routine commencing. Sigh. At least pay day Friday this week, and telework today. Little more than 5 more years of this. I am still thinking, when I become that retired person.

Was going to post the above yesterday, but oops, never hit the post button.

Oh well. It’s that mid week commuting days start. Yep, but the day to eat a taco to enjoy.

This Taco Tuesday, many here to vote today, as my state’s Election Day. Glad, as no more robot calling and texting political ads soon. Polls open in a half hour from now. I’ll do it on my way home, as can’t get off to vote while on that week day routine. At least they stay open until 8 pm.

The warmer air is here, and I swear I saw the headless horseman, with a turkey in his hand instead of his head. Ooh foggy in spots as drove. As 50 degrees this morning. Yay, over 10 degrees warmer than yesterday’s close to freezing we were. A balmy 75 today, so no jacket I had on, as commuted in a very dark predawn hour, with cloud cover enough not even a star or plane seen. Though certainly heard a very loud plane go lower over our house early last night.

Most Terrific Taco Tuesday today, and hope all had a Marvelous Monday yesterday.

Ooh time for tea refill time. TTFN

Isn`t it the best feeling when you get the whole house sparkling!!! I love it!!

You put a wet crumble on top????? I haven`t heard about a wet topping, our crumble top is very dry and sweet.

I think I`m due a phone change, never considered an iPhone to be honest, my android takes better pics than most of my friends iPhones and I let them know it often lol....

Busy couple of days, but well, never good to hear but a cousin of mine passed away aged 54 on Sunday. I hadn`t seen him in a long time, but still, we all grew up together and sad to hear for his 3 other brothers.

Started the day with tea of course, always my first task in the morning and another day of not a breath out there, no beautiful sunrise to observe this morning with grey skies and a little chilly outside, but no plans to go out anywhere at all. Had a morning catching up with some friends, one came round for a cuppa as she was passing and ate the last of my syrup cake!!! And she`s skinny!

Making grilled sandwiches for lunch, turkey, brie and cranberry and doing chicken in a creamy leek and mustard sauce for dinner and will attempt a potato galette, last time it wasn`t properly cooked through, just a little bit in the middle was a tiny bit raw. Tom still ate it so couldn`t have been too bad, buttered savoy cabbage cooked with mushrooms too.

Just taken Tom and the gardener a cuppa too, it`s very fresh and very autumnal out there and Bonfire Night here, glad it doesn`t really affect us up here. Where Kyle lives now he is a few moments away from a rugby/cricket club that have a huge display every year and if they don`t go down to it, they can watch from the kitchen window, that`s where I`d be!!

Almost time for lunch.....more tea coming up, fresh of course!!!!

Happy Tuesday ☺️

Quick Tuesday morning stop in!

We got a nice dusting of snow on top of the freezing rain we got yesterday :sad2: And people wonder why I hate winter. Anyway...better topics to chat about.

DD messaged late yesterday afternoon she didn't want to cook and son-in-law was working late. So dd and gd came over for dinner. Found a few extra things to add stretch it out. It was nothing special - butter chicken (sauce from a jar :faint: ) as I don't know if I could make a good one from scratch.

Dh is heading out of town today- just for the night. So I told ds's it's fend for yourself tonight. I'm having girl dinner tonight - not sure what I want - but it will be something easy with zero dishes!!!!! It might be just chips and dip ::yes::

@keishashadow I hope your now resting and that everything went well for you.

@schumigirl I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. Losing someone who is young is always heart breaking. Enjoy your tea!

@Lynne G I hope your kiddos enjoyed the hockey game. I love going to the games. Sadly - it's just so expensive, so we don't take in many. I would rather spend those $$$ on travel. I'm hoping 8 years till I retire or at least work part-time - casual.

Well, I should try to get some things done here today. I have my to-do list that needs to get started :surfweb:

Have a great day everyone!

I'm enjoying reading about all your meals. Maybe I'll be inspired to try something new. Usually that ends up with me buying the ingredients and making the plan, and then my fiance offering to do the actual cooking while I'm working or at the gym, which is a very nice arrangement. He finds cooking relaxing and I do not.

I am finalizing wedding plans, but spending more time planning the honeymoon. We have one day at Disney that will be complex and expensive (except the hotel, which my overly generous friend is gifting us). Except for a few restaurant reservations, my Universal plans are mostly wander over in the late morning and use the hotel express pass. A completely different experience than Disney.

I am trying to decide how to introduce my fiance to the parks. My kids and I always start with IoA (The Adventure Begins) and Marvel. He's a Marvel fan like me. But we're rewatching all the HP movies, and I'm wondering if it makes more sense to start with US, so we can ride the Hogwarts Express from London like we're going to Hogwarts? But maybe I want to build up to the amazing experience that is Diagon Alley? This is a fun thing to ponder when I can't fall asleep. 🤔
