Some Aulani Disappointments

All good points. I would also add that when buying 50 years worth of vacations in advance, primarily for a single destination, common sense would dictate the high probability of at least some changes to the facility over the years that might not be to one’s liking.
So we just say screw it? That is exactly how we got to this point … call me what you will or argue with me but if I don’t get exactly what I feel is a proper experience for what I paid for management is going to hear about it … done saying it’s ok

No, when dissatisfied, you absolutely have a right to let management know. We might disagree about priorities, but that’s what the boards are for.

Fill out your post resort stay surveys….

Sure … I could do that …OR I could just let management and Disney know directly and cut out the middle man
Or the person you talk to is at best a mid level manager working a long shift at the front desk who will smile, listen, be quite friendly, professional, and promise to pass your feedback along…and maybe they will, and maybe they won’t.

The survey feedback is taken quite seriously, summarized, and goes to upper management.

Or I could be smart enough to speak directly to someone in management either at the property itself or go up the ladder even further … I don’t give up speaking to the check in desk … a person to person conversation about their failure and instant resolution is much more effective than filling in a ‘needs improvement’ bubble on some survey that gets shredded by a lackey

Not sure how “going up the ladder even further” might work.

Yeah…. that’s not the way it works for modern companies. They are driven my NPS scores and direct survey feedback.

But… you can keep spinning your wheels and wasting peoples time if you want. Free country.

I get the desired results every single time … keep filling out those surveys if it makes you feel good free country

Well, if your complaining to upper management works every single time, then on behalf of all of us, please do complain about the discontinuation of free leis. I am now expecting one on my next trip to AUL.
Why would I address something that doesn’t affect me? Fact is direct communication Trumps surveys every.single.time …. Try it friend you might actually like it …

Ummmm, because that was the OP's number one complaint listed in the thread of which you are contributing.

I was in the elevator with a family that had just checked in and headed down to the pool when a very confident 5 year old was proud to tell me that she could go swimming because she was wearing her floaties.

I asked which pool she was gong to go to and she said she didn’t know because they had never been to Aulani before. I recommend the infinity pool and she told her Dad that is where they were going to go.

As we exited the elevator I noticed that none of them had wristbands and I asked the Dad if he knew about the wrist band rules and he said that he did not.

I let him know about the towel huts and the trick to get the next days bands at the end of the current day after 1pm and they went straight to a hut to get the bands.

The reason for my story is that without me giving them a heads up they probably would have just continued to find a seat and got in the pool since it’s not gated.

I also kept a look out today for people without wrist bands and didn’t see anyone before my interaction outside the elevator.

So, perhaps the very rare occasion where someone doesn’t have a wrist band is because they just arrived and are figuring the place out.
Only just started looking at this thread as planning a trip for September. Can you please let me know where to find the information on the wrist bands and what they are for. Have just seen in this thread about reserving seats. Do you do this online before you arrive or is it a do once there thing?

Here I was thinking that we would just rock on up to Hawaii and Aulani for a relaxing trip. However I am starting to have flash backs of early morning alarms to get bookings like we did for Disneyland.

Relaxing and Aulani is a contradiction in terms. You’ll see people up at 5am guarding chairs.

As I put in the previous post, just got up to the towel hits with your magic band or smart phone and they will scan you in and give you a wrist band and a towel.

I think reserved seats are done 30 days prior.

September might not be too bad since American schools are in session.

Just got back and had a great time but little things ARE missing at Aulani. I stayed at the Grand Californian in September and they had robes, slippers, toothbrushes, mouthwash, cotton squares/Q-tips/nail files in their rooms. They also had fruit water, sunscreen, and after sun lotion at their pools. All of that should be available at Aulani and it's not. We walked along the beach path past Four Seasons and they had the water, sunscreen, etc. their guests could use so it's possible to provide those things in Hawaii. Aulaini could make it a little more luxurious for a very small investment.

Our partial ocean view was spectacular and we are just two adults and never had issues finding chairs at the adult pool. All the staff we encountered were kind and helpful. And, the Aulani spa is heads and shoulders above the spa at the Grand Californian but even at the spa some of the showers in the hydrotherapy garden weren't working. Not a big deal but just indicates either a lack of upkeep or maybe not the workforce on Oahu needed to be able to properly maintain a property like Aulani.

I have never had a problem getting chairs together for a family of 8 at a normal time of day in about 30 nights staying at Aulani.
