Chili mac is just chili mixed with elbow macaroni. No mac and cheese. Not spaghetti (that is a different beast).

I like both. Often I make a pot of chili, eat it on it's own for a couple days, then cook up some noodles for the rest of the leftovers. Helps stretch the meal out a bit more.

And my chili has beans. Usually 2 types.

Though I do also enjoy Cincinnati chili which is thinner and has some different seasonings.

Now I want chili.

I don’t eat chili very often. Have never had it with macaroni. I’ve had it plain or over rice, and sometimes with a side of cornbread.

I have never heard the term 'chili mac'. When I make chili, it does not have noodles, but I serve it over rice. When DH makes chili, he uses an old family recipe that includes pasta, specifically Creamettes cut spaghetti which they seem to no longer make. We used to buy several boxes when we visited his family in Wisconsin, but can't find it anymore. He is bummed and doesn't want to use elbow macaroni, but the macaroni in boxed Mac & cheese is thinner so he may use that! (BOTH versions have beans)

I've had plain chili lots of times, and over rice because DH likes it that way, so I expect I would like it with macaroni as well.

DH makes chili a few times a year, and it’s good. No noodles. I’ve never personally made chili ever, didn’t grow up eating chili, except Hormel sometimes. . I guess we had chili Mac at school, or something like it , like hamburger helper. I like chili on fries, so noodies would be good too I’d think.

Chili Mac is not Cincinnati Chili.

Chili Mac:
(all mixed together, chili itself is typically con carne and has spices such as cumin, paprika, peppers)

Cincinnati Chili:
(Spaghetti on bottom, chili, mountain of cheese. This is a 3 way. You can make it a 4 way by adding beans or onions, and a 5 way with adding both beans and onions. Chili itself is sweeter and can have a mix of cinnamon, allspice, and even nutmeg.)

I eat plain chili I make at home that is spicy with jalapeños, con carne spices and yes, beans! ;)
I also eat Cincinnati Chili (Dixie Chili is the best, imho as it is not as sweet as Skyline or Gold Star) but I eat that solo as dh and dd don't like it. I did not like it when I first moved here, definitely an acquired taste I established over time. Now, I love it!

As for the actual question of the poll of the day, I do not eat Chili Mac. I prefer the other 2 versions. Traditional chili first (with beans), and then Cincy style.
