I’ve been looking forward to posting this poll all day yesterday.

Around me, it’s a new thing for towns and people to do Christmas Eve fireworks. So I’m really curious if this is a thing by you too. So tell me today…..

Are there Christmas Eve fireworks by you?
If yes…..do towns, people at home or both do them?
What is your opinion of them?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I’m very against them and I will never attend them. For our town, they did these fireworks at 7pm at the same time the Baptist church, just down the street, was starting their 7pm service - terrible and rude to those people. Christmas Eve is not the 4th of July. We had people in our subdivision light them off too - I don’t get it. Save it for New Years Eve.

No, we do not have this at all. It isn’t a thing.
Not Xmas Eve, and not New Years Eve. I think that there is a celebration with fireworks downtown on New Years Eve, but we are far enough away not to hear it.
We are used to this from Florida during the holidays. We use our white noise machines to sleep, as it can go wellll into the night. We would be there, but my husband does not have medical clearance yet.

I noticed that for the first time this year, poeple were shooting off fireworks on Christmas Eve. That's not typical. I kept heraing loud bangs. I thought they might be gunshots, though they didn't sound quite like that. I eventually saw some fireworks above the trees - a few blocks away it looked like. I guess it's a new thing, but I don't really think it's necessary.

There are no public fireworks displays in my area for Christmas Eve. Personal fireworks are only legal for certain holidays (and Christmas Eve/Christmas are not among them) but that doesn't mean people always follow the law, but I didn't hear any being set off near us on Christmas Eve.

Fireworks are not traditional for Christmas Eve for me so I don't think I'd make an effort to attend any public displays (we have other Christmas Eve traditions), but I wouldn't really have a problem with it if there was a public display. I voted "don't like them" mainly because I don't like amateurs setting them off in neighborhoods at any time of year.*

*We had an issue a few years ago where a neighbor was setting off fireworks in their driveway (not Christmas Eve) and the debris and one errant firework ended up all over OUR yard and roof. We -- politely, I think -- asked them to change their set up so the fireworks wouldn't go over our house. (If they'd moved their launch site from their front yard to their back yard, I think the flight path would have gone over THEIR house, not ours.) I thought it was a reasonable request and we'd had a decent relationship with them, but they gave me attitude about their "rights" to set off fireworks. So many amateurs are just not safe/courteous with their fireworks so I'm not a fan of amateur displays anywhere, and much less in neighborhoods where the houses are close enough to be impacted by stupid choices.

oh my, we've not experienced Christmas Eve fireworks around here. I've not heard of that. However, I did see the usual fireworks tents all set up and open last week, I thought getting ready for New Year's Eve, but maybe they were selling for Christmas Eve. We will have LOOOOOOOTS of fireworks going off around us on NYE, several people in the neighborhood do them. But never Christmas Eve. I sure hope that doesn't become a thing.

Yes, there were some fireworks from our neighborhood including last night. There are massive tents along some of our most popular roads selling fireworks (as well as our grocery stores, Publix). I don't have a dog anymore, but she would be a mess during those times.

My town did not have any nor did I hear any going off anywhere near me and these people like all fireworks all the damn time so I’m really surprised if this is a new thing that these people didn’t do it because honestly they’re lighting off fireworks all the time if they’re not shooting off guns what do they do all the time I would be against it for Christmas Eve

I selected other for two reasons. One, I live near enough to WDW to see and hear MK fireworks every day, so of course there were fireworks on the 24th, just not specifically for Christmas Eve. Second, someone in our neighborhood set off fireworks on Sunday night, but I don’t know if they were Christmas related or not.

I agree that New Year’s Eve is a more appropriate holiday for fireworks.

No fireworks here for Christmas. There usually are people setting them off at midnight on New Year's Eve but no civic ones. Agreed, Sandy, it's crazy for Christmas. And at the time of services of a nearby church? Totally disrespectful.

There were reports of fireworks around town on Christmas Eve. It is illegal in my county to set off fireworks. So for that reason I am against them. Never heard of a public display of fireworks on Christmas Eve.

I don’t know of any commercially produced shows, but fireworks can be sold in certain areas/counties between Christmas and New Year’s. They are not legal in my neighborhood/town, but it is rarely enforced. We heard a few people setting them off the other night, but nothing too crazy. Although, we had strong storms approaching and it was unnerving to hear the pops and bangs in with the thunder. New year’s usually goes on for hours. I’m always so afraid of them hitting the house or trees, but the threat is usually worse around 4th of July when we’re potentially in summer drought conditions.

No Christmas eve fireworks here, however our town does have a winter festival in mid December. Food trucks, ice sculptures, crafters, school choirs and fireworks. Unfortunately this year fireworks were canceled due to unusually dry conditions.

My metropolitan area doesn't need much of an excuse to shoot off fireworks, nor do the residents in the burbs. That said, I'm not aware of any Christmas Eve pyro. Will likely be some on NYE, but I'll sleep through those:)

No fireworks for Christmas here.
There are stands set up (but not selling yet) for NY and will will hear some then

Lots of fireworks here on Christmas Eve and Christmas night, but none of them community shows, and none of them legal fireworks.
The City used to sponsor a fireworks show on New Year's Eve, but they stopped because of violence including homicides. The city is resuming a celebration in Old Sacramento this year, saying there will be a light show, and pyrotechnics, but they are not using the word fireworks and will not clarify what the pyrotechnics will entail.
If you ever go to Neighborhood Watch websites of Next door, they are filled with posts about illegal fireworks year round. I understand this is trying for some, but I sure know of no way to stop it.
