Over the last 5 years or so, after talking with many people (and I talk with a lot of people every week), it seems like holiday gift returns are not happening as much as they have in the past. With the amount of gift cards and cash given as gifts, there’s nothing to return. So, let’s talk returns today….

Did/do you have any holiday gift returns from this recently past holiday season?
If yes…..how many?
If yes…..did you already return it/them?
(multiple choice)

For Me……No Christmas gift returns for me. My main gift request this year was Disney gift cards for our upcoming trip and I was blessed to get them. We only exchange gifts with our parents and they appreciate the easiness of just buying gift cards. My MIL did buy my DD21 a sweatshirt that doesn’t fit right, so my DD21 is returning that.

None for me. There is one shirt I haven't tried on yet, but it's similar to another I have from the same place, so I expect it to be fine.

I hate doing returns anytime I will go out of my way not to do them I don’t know what it is about it but I just hate doing returns so unless it’s a high dollar item I’m not returning it it will have to be extremely broke I mean something massively wrong with it to get me to return it Cause otherwise I’m gonna give it to somebody or do something but I normally won’t return it I’m horrible about doing returns I just find them to be a pain and cumbersome and I don’t like doing them
I had a neighbor give me an item that I did not want it was something I could not use did not want to use and I just re-gifted it it was very thoughtful of the neighbor to give me the item but it was just something I would never use so I regifted it return no no regifted and it wasn’t like I gave it to someone like I went out and bought them something gifted it no I just said hey kid would you like this and they said oh I could use it I said here you go enjoy
Because I’m just not gonna do a return
I have an item right now then I purchased for myself that may or may not be broke there was a piece tiny piece broke off the item when it arrived I still haven’t checked to make sure the items can work and I need to do that and I thought if it doesn’t work I will just donate it to Goodwill because I probably won’t return it🤣🤣🤣 now if the friend I regifted the item to find out about this she’d grab the item and return it for me and I’m like stop you don’t need to and she’s like give it to me and I will return it

I don't have anything to return. We do a secret Santa gift now and each person gets one gift, instead of many gifts. :)

I think that a gift of clothing has got to be the most common returned gift. I'm careful not to request clothes when making a Christmas list. :)

Other. I received one thing I’d really like to return but because it was from DS, who was actually quite thoughtful in choosing it, I won’t. Nobody else in the household has asked me to return anything I got for them, which is how it would work out here. :santa:

I asked DH to return a plastic nativity set to Home Depot about two weeks before Christmas. For whatever reason he wanted to put it on the front lawn. He never expressed any interest before.

But he neglected to read the box thoroughly. It said “For indoor/covered outdoor display.” And none of the figures lit up. Joesph was carrying a lantern and only that had a tiny light in it.

Walmart had a set where Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus had electric cords, but it didn’t include any sheep or cow. DH wanted those too.

I told him to search online and we can display it next Christmas.

Not so much a return but an exchange.

I ordered a pair of shoes from DD18s gift list. I checked in the box when they arrived just to make sure they looked right. I didn't see any reason to pull them out for a full inspection since they looked right when I gently pulled away the nicely folded tissue paper. All looked good, but when she opened them Christmas morning, we found they were damaged. The side of the right shoe that was facing down was marked up with ink and the lace tucked underneath had been tied up into tight little knots. The company didn't cover a damage scenario on their site and they charge for return shipping in most cases, so I had to call the day after Christmas to plead my case. Thankfully, they covered the return shipping (which still left me with the repacking and going up to FedEx), got a replacement pair in the mail to me right away, and refunded me $10 for my troubles. Still, it would have been so much easier if the shoes she'd opened on Christmas were good.

LlBean sent the wrong size pajamas so those need to go back. I ordered the right size, bummer about the return. Luckily I have a store in the next town over so I’ll go this weekend.

I didn't return a holiday gift, but I did return a new but too-long toilet seat to Lowes two days after Christmas. It felt like a gift because I was standing in line with other gift-returners. :) :p I did, however, find those cute Christmas cow t-shirts marked down to $4.95 and christmas lights marked 75% off, so it wasn't all for nothing.

No returns here. Though I gave all of our adult kids their Amazon receipts so they could make returns if necessary.

No one has said anything. I went by their lists. So I think everything was ok.

We took care of a couple returns after Christmas, but my wife has a couple left to do - she has to go out to the outlet stores for those, we just weren't in the area during Christmas / New Years, so she'll head there in the next day or so to finish that one.
