The great debate for many - what do you like best - Cool Whip or Whipped Cream?

For Me…….Cool Whip
Always Cool Whip
I will eat whipped cream if Cool Whip isn’t available, but I’ll eat it while secretly missing Cool Whip - LOL!

I buy Cool Whip more as I can pop it in freezer so I always have it - can’t do that with Ready Whip - well you could but the ending would be BAD
If we have Ready Whip DH eats it in everything - I swear he puts it in soda!! It does not last long - For what it’s worth neither does Cool Whip but it last a little longer
I myself lean more towards Cool Whip - grew up with it as we never had Ready Whip so I enjoy Cool Whip just fine ! But for a fancy finish Ready Whip looks nice
DD would say make home made and I will just say Ugh and roll my eyes and get out my Cool Whip!!! She won’t eat any of them anyway !!

We use both for different reasons.

Whipped cream as a finish on a cake, pie or ice cream if someone wants a squirt on top of their dessert. Cool whip is used as an ingredient within a recipe, like in a trifle.

Whipped cream in an can. Cool Whip has that funny fake taste, like diet soda used to.

I wanted my mother to buy the canister that used whippets, but she refused.

I noticed Reddi-Whip made from almond milk the other day.

Anybody still use Dream Whip powder?
I grew up with homemade or ready whip, so cool whip tastes off to me, and has an oily feel.

Homemade whipped cream that I make myself with lots of vanilla and just the right amount of sugar, and I have one of those steel dispensers that whips the cream with a nitrous oxide cartridge if I want to have the spray-type. I would never serve Cool Whip as an actual dessert topping but I do use it in a few recipes (usually the store brand though).

Not as a dessert topping but I have a pie recipe that calls for it that is an absolute crowd favorite. Again, I often use the store brand but the original Kraft kind is still readily availavble.

I don't like the taste of Cool Whip, at all. Kind of plastic, chemically to me. For desserts that have whipped cream, most of the time I try to make my own. The zero sugar Reddi wip is a good Keto option.

DH loves the kind in a can, so I usually buy that.

But I also keep some Cool Whip in the freezer, as a back-up and for certain recipes.

And of course, I won't turn down homemade if somebody else feels like making it.

I prefer Rediwhip and will always choose it first. I really only get Cool Whip if a recipe calls for it.

There's this wonderful, horrifying recipe I got from my sister in law involving jello powder and cool whip and a pie crust. That's good, but definitely degenerate....

When I was growing up we mostly had cool whip, but as an adult I almost always get (or make) real whipped cream. I will use Cool Whip occasionally in a recipe, but if it's a topping, it's real whipped cream.

When my daughter was 4 or 5 years old, we went somewhere and my daughter had something with "whipped cream" on it. She came over to me and whispered. "Mom, there's something wrong with the whipped cream. I think it's spoiled!" (It wasn't spoiled. It was Cool Whip. She'd never had it "plain.")

The main ingredients in Cool Whip are hydrogenated oil and high fructose corn syrup, both of which I avoid whenever possible. Whipped cream or nothing for me!

Pour heavy cream, flavoring, and sugar in an empty pickle jar, close and shake for fast whipped cream that needs to be stored. Use 10X instead of granulated sugar if possible.

What is in my fridge right now is Coco Whip - nondairy vegan cool whip type stuff.

If I was going to buy for only me to use it would be canned whipped cream. I’ve made and enjoy homemade whipped cream and the vegan version of it but I don’t use enough of it at a time and it goes flat before it’s finished.

I like both and does not matter to me. If I need any type of whipped topping...

We buy Cool Whip , easy to throw in the freezer and have. Once and awhile we but the canned whip cream if it’s on sale.

Someone asked about Dream Whip I do use that in a no bake cheese cake but nothing else. I remember my mom using it all the time. Recipes in magazines to mix it with chocolate pudding for dream pie.

I'll eat Cool Whip if the stuff in a can is not available, but I don't like it much. Leaves an oily film on the tongue.
