Happy Thanksgiving week to all my fellow Americans 🦃. This week I will be doing polls that are themed towards Thanksgiving. For all our DIS friends that do not live in the United States, these polls will be made for everyone to participate in.

Today’s topic is going to be about white meat vs dark meat with a turkey or chicken, since both white meat and dark meat. Some people feel very strongly about the meat they eat. My grandma and grandpa always liked dark meat over white meat. Now that they have passed, nobody likes dark meat by me now. We still kept making a normal turkey for Thanksgiving just for tradition, but we are changing it up this year. This year we decided to only make a couple turkey breasts, since everyone likes the white meat. Give us your thoughts on this today…..

For Me……I prefer white meat for both turkey and chicken. I will eat the dark meat if I have no choice - I don’t dislike it that much. I’m glad we are doing the two turkey breasts this year - everyone will be happy with that.

My sister and her honey prefer dark meat turkey and chicken.

I like both in chicken. DH prefers white meat in chicken.
 


I prefer dark meat for both turkey and chicken. It is juicier and more flavorful than white meat. The majority of our Thanksgiving guests prefer white meat. But we always carve both dark and white.
 
For turkey I like white meat, chicken is either. I'm making 2 turkey breasts and a carver ham this year. I always try to have a non turkey option.
 
For a turkey dinner it's white meat, but we'll use some dark meat in a casserole made from leftovers. For chicken I enjoy white meat, but I've become a big fan of chicken thighs.
 
I am what my kids call a "turkitarian". I eat vegetarian-esque (sometimes pescatarian), but around fall, I always eat turkey. I crave it for some reason, and I tend to listen to my (healthy) cravings since I assume my body is telling me I am missing something.

Anyway, I will ONLY eat white breast meat. I have never liked chicken, so definitely not dark meat.

Amazon Fresh just had a sale where all their turkeys were about 5.75 each. Got 4. Will have plenty of "Turkitarian times" these next few months.

Dark meat always tastes greasy, smoky, and gamey to me.
 
White meat turkey for me; I try to pack up all the dark meat for the guests who are taking left-overs. I rarely cook anything other than boneless, skinless chicken breasts but on the rare occasion I get a whole rotisserie chicken, I off-load the dark meat on DH or use it in a casserole where it doesn't bother me as badly.
 
For chicken, I prefer dark meat. Grilled thighs or fried drumsticks. But for turkey, white meat only.

I did buy a gigantic whole turkey for Thanksgiving this year. I'll roast it and hope for plenty of leftover white meat. I'm planning to cut the leftover white meat equally with dark meat and then use it for homemade turkey pot pie and turkey ala king.
 
I usually go somewhere for Thanksgiving, but if I am doing it at home, I will just buy a turkey breast. That is all I need for a few people and no bones or dark meat to worry about.
 
I'm good with either one. They both have their pros and cons. I generally like white meat the day we make the bird, but dark meat in leftovers, since white meat does seem to dry out the next day or two.
 
Okay. The day of, I prefer dark meat. The days after, I prefer white meat because it's easier to put on a sandwich with cranberry sauce.
