Silver Lake Resort or Vacation Village at Parkway?

At the moment, they've both got availability for when I want to go through RCI's Extra Vacations. I've done a fair bit of research on Vacation Village but very little on Silver Lake. We like big, quiet units -- we'll pick a view of Florida scrub over a pool any day -- and we like nice sized porches as well. Don't get wound up if there are no flat screen TVs or marble countertops, but do get grumpy with wimpy AC or mold, mildew and dirt. Don't care about onsite activities although we usually take advantage of canoeing or paddleboats or mini golf if they're available. Like pools with slides but that's not a make or break thing, either.

Anyone who has stayed at either or both and has an opinion to offer?

okay the ones at Vacation Villa are different.

the 2-bedroom is in 2 different rooms. One door on the hall - but two doors when you get inside.

now don't really think this will be a problem for you. but though it was strange.

both places will have everything you need.
now have not stayed in silver lake yet - but think the older building did not have an elevator. and some people complainted about the mirrors - which I think were rehab this last time. Just not completely sure.

it is still on my list to stay at. You are really close to AK - just turn left out the back exit of silver lake.

vacation villa is further away. Vacation villa is newer and think has more activities.

We like VVP better. If you stay at SLR be sure to book silver points. There are usually 2 SLR listings on RCI. You want to make sure to book the one that is Gold Crown rated so that you get a nicer room. Based on what you are looking for though, I think Sheraton Vistana Resort would be a better fit and it is on RCI.

SLR HANDS down. SLR.

Thanks, all, for the info and opinions.

Right now we're tending toward VV@P (because it's got more transportation options for eldest son), but if hubby doesn't get his act together on okaying the dates at work, we'll probably end up staying at the one that still has units available -- or starting all over, at this rate.

Last I looked, Sheraton Vistana wasn't an option when we're planning to go. :sad1:

Love them both.... Kids had a blast at both places.... Silver was at the Back Door of Animal Kingdom... literally... and I REALLY liked that part:thumbsup2
