I read about these rooms on Dave's website. From what I can tell, they are category 10 on deck 5 (rooms 5020-5024 & 5520-5524) They have portholes, but with some obstructions so are only priced as inside staterooms. Has anyone stayed in any of these rooms? How bad is the obstruction? Can you see the water at all? Are any of the above rooms better than the others? Also, the description of this category says some sleep 3, some sleep 4. Do any or all of these secret porthole rooms sleep 4? We will have 4 people...2 adults, 1 5 yr old, and 1 3 yr old. Thanks!

All sleep 4. I've had 5522 and 5524. The least obstructed are 5520 and 5020. The rooms were nice, and a wonderful location. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere but that hall after being there. The 22 rooms are moderately obstructed and the 24 rooms are the most. Even in the 24 room, yes, definately you can see the ocean and land, but maybe not from certain positions in the room. From the outside of the ship they look totally covered, but you can see fine when standing at the window. Complete light comes through making the stateroom as bright as any outside room. We liked them so much we rebooked onboard to get the same rooms.

We stayed in 5520 last time and have 5020 this time. They are a great value and I love the location because the kids club and movie theater are on the same floor.

I have 3 cruises booked over the next 2 years and I have one of these rooms assigned for each of my upcoming cruises. We were VERY happy with it.

We stayed in 5520, we loved the location. That hallways are very quiet. Just a consideration point - 5520 and 5020 are separate rooms. 5022/5024 are connecting rooms - as are 5522 and 5524. The connecting rooms are said to be a little more noisy if the people in the connecting room are loud.

We have stayed in them many times, including our three-peat on the Wonder. I don't like the connectors as they are definitely MUCH more noisy. You won't see the water unless you are right at the porthole, and some have a better view than others. I can email you photos of the view from each stateroom. If you want to see them, email me at disneycruise@mailblocks.com

Thanks guys!:earsboy: I might try and see if I can get one of these cabins next fall!

We ended up getting lucky and got 5520 next sept 05! :teeth: Woohoo!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

I've seen the castaway club pics, but I was wondering if anyone else had any?

ok as others have Said We also have been in those rooms
I know for sure we had 5020 and another time we had one of the others...

....people have stated that across the hall is a service entrance and that is were the luggage goes on the LAST night so u may here a little noise on the last night not a BIG DEAL
still worth the $300.00 savings over the cat 9 room
and some have said there are people out side the window
because it is a service area for equipment ... still not a big deal Wave say hi.. or shut the curtin if some mantainance person should be out there... STill not a big deal and Worth the $600.00 Saving over the Cat 8 .... because all the cat 9 rooms are on deck 2
u would have to book a cat. 8 room to get a different location on the ship.. So it makes it a Cat 8 state room

Still Worth It ................. if u have never cruise u would never know the difference...

My son and I have 5520 booked for our land/sea package in June 2005!!! We are so excited..I asked my TA for this room and actually got it after reading so many posts and doing some research. I am very pleased with my decision after reading all the "wonder"ful remarks about them!!!!! This will be our first cruise..dd will be 7 and myself will be on board.....:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:   :earseek: :earseek:

We stayed in one of these on our last cruise & the only complaint I had was that there was a light right outside the window (I'm extremely light sensitive when I need to sleep) that the curtains didn't completely block.

Still they're a great value and a great location.

I have got one of these rooms too, 5020. We usually get a balcony on our previous cruises on other cruiselines. We are only doing a 3 day cruise next November to try out DCL.

My mom is coming with us so there will be four of us in the cabin since I got the guilt trip of not inviting her on our cruise a couple of weeks ago. That will even make things more interesting!!! I feel bad for my poor hubby already. Well at least he can't jump off the balcony! LOL.

This is sooooo good to know. I really hope we can get 5020 or 5520 for a cruise in July. Great information! Thanks to all the contributed!!

How is the motion in this area of the ship? I tend to get motion-sickness. I think I would love one of these rooms but I would like to know from someone that has stayed if they felt sick in a forward room.

We stayed in 5024 for the Transatlantic crossing. We did feel the motion up front, but there was motion all over!

I would stay there again to save the money. Only occasionally would we hear people in the hall. Since we were the first room, they would be talking loud and realize they were near staterooms just as they were passing the door. The luggage door did not make any difference to me, just that he picked up the stuff quickly!

These pictures are great. We have this exact room (5024) booked next year. We rebooked onboard our last cruise and it was the last hidden porthole room available, and after reading these posts, I am even happier that we snagged it!
