This past Wednesday was our designated day for Castaway Cay during our 4 day cruise on the Dream. We woke up docked at CC but the weather was terrible with storms. The Captain made the decision to leave the island with no one getting off the ship. of course, sadness abounded but everyone seemed to understand although not what we wanted. My family and friends went to a movie and two hours later, we came outside and were sailing in sunny skies somewhere north of CC. (we could still see storms far off on the southern horizon) The captain soon announced that we would return to CC the next day! YES! So, we had a great day at sea on Wednesday with great weather and then a great day at CC on Thursday with great weather. Of course, being on our 9th cruise, we noticed a much higher return speed toward the port on Thursday night! lol Don't you just love the concept of a mobile vacation! THANKS CAPTAIN and Disney Mission Control!

They try to do what they can. You happened to be cruising at a time when only 2 ships are going so there is more availability. Were you cruising a month earlier when all 4 ships were hitting Castaway it would likely not have been possible.

A couple of years ago we got a broadcast from the captain of the Magic saying it was too rough for tendering at Monte Carlo (Med./WBTA B2B), so we were getting an "at sea" day and the next day would be flipped into a stop in Marseilles. He made that decision, got permission to dock in France, conjured up a dozen or so excursions out of Marseilles and got the word to everyone on board in about three hours. We signed up for one to Avignon and a winery that was awesome. I asked one of the DCL officers later how they pulled all this off and he said the always have plans "B," "C," and a few more for just such occasions.
Every cruise is truly an adventure.

We were on that cruise also, and we agree Captain Andy was a genius. Plus loved his accent!lol

We were on a cruise last year and the Captain got permission to dock at CC a little after midnight the night before, the wind forecast for the next morning was not favorable.

Anyhow, it was cool to see us come in that late at night, and the crew said it had never happened before. Even when the ship does a double dip, it leaves each night and returns in the morning.
