Running of the Bulls in Spain

It is sad that they chose to do something that could get them hurt or killed. They knew the risks going in.

I feel bad for his family, but not him. It's dangerous. He knew that. Such is life. But, his family has to suffer now because of his actions. So, I feel for them.

I no difference in this than people who skydive, basejump, race motorcycles, or participate in Rodeo. They are adrenaline junkies and the reward outweights the risk!

I feel about them the same way I feel about base jumpers, mountain climbers etc. They are thrill seekers and know the risks from the get go.

Quote: "Ducharme was injured in what is known as a vaquilla, in which hundreds of people chase five cows and pull their ears and tails in the bull ring where the runs end." :confused3 Why?

"There has been an effort in recent years to teach runners how to stay safe"

Does it include abstinence talks?

Agree with the others. Just another risk taker that IMO get to much help and sympathy when things go wrong. I find it a lot more sad when people get hurt trying to help these fools.

My best friend and her BF are there now - running with the bulls. I told her that I thought she was crazy. :crazy2:

She said that there are "safe" areas to run and not so safe areas. The NYer obviously ran in the not-so-safe area.

Edited to add: I see he wasn't running with the bulls but in a mock bull fight. He put himself in harms way....

Another for "What Bob said". There are plenty of people who get killed or injured each day by pure accident. I'm certainly not going to shed tears over this guy.

"Stupid is as stupid does."

Another one who agrees with Bob. Though, I do feel for the families.

There has never been a time when that statement was more true. How do I feel? I feel that he took a stupid chance!

Do you ever watch The People's Court? The judge told these two stupid people that "Natural Selection dictates that you two not be standing here right now."

Oh, and on House when the girl came in with the "jelly" and asked when she could do the deed again and he said, "From an evolutionary standpoint? Never."

Doesn't bother me one way or another. DH and I went to Pamplona many moons ago....he wanted to run. We were off by one day....got there for the opening ceremonies but didn't realize they didn't run that day.

It's a tradition fraught with danger. Once you're in the bullring (where the run ends), you're technically not running...just hiding. Alot of gorings happen because the entrance to the ring is narrow and alot of people and bulls are trying to get in at the same time.

I didn't read the article in question so I don't know exactly what happened.

No sympathy from me. I think it is a very idiotic thing to do.
