Most people don't know to ask for this option, when standing in line. My wife and I did and we had the whole thing to ourselves (with the pilot, of course). I think that was my favorite ride that day! LOL

I actually chatted with a monorail driver regarding this and hopes for WDW. He said the monorail is classified as attraction in Cali so local laws let them do that, but classified as transportation in Florida. I think laws perhaps changed ? Anyway he said it wont ever be an option in Florida again.

The Disneyland monorails are newer and only have 1 beam. Friends and I rode in the front in 2019. The accident at WDW happened when when one switched beams. Anyone sitting in the front would have had no chance.
We rode in the front of the Monorail at Disneyland in November. I was also able to ride in the back. They have a sign on the front and back cars to indicate when they are open for passengers.
