Hello All

I first thought I might post this in the Restaurant area, but wanted to know if anyone else out there with young kids with needs like Autism had used these.

My DS will be 3 so too big for a high chair, now as long as we get a table out of the way I know he should be okay but he does better and will sit for longer if he is buckled in.

So does anyone know if most of the restaurants carry booster seats and if yes, is there a child strap to keep them all nice and secure :)

I have never seen one at disney ( not saying they do not have them) I know what you mean about keeping kids striped in I know one little one that will be on the table in no time at all and there is no way to keep him down with out some thing, I know they have used a belt sometimes when need be too keep him seated ( but use your judgement on this one it is just something my friend dose with her little one)

That is an idea,

although knowing me, I'd probably forget and have to use my own belt which might cause a wardrobe malfunction while people are eating eww lol :)

Its been a while since I used them, but I believe they are the molded plastic ones that do not have a belt. We ended up having our dds kneel when they needed the extra height, especially in booths as they were typically padded.

We had a travel booster seat when DD was little; it folded fairly compactly. It was similar to this one: http://www.toysrus.com/product/inde...443.2255983.2256180.3242298&parentPage=family We never took it to WDW as she was older by her first trip, but we did take it to a number of other locations. It won't work in booths/bench seats; well, you can buckle the kid into the seat but no way to keep the booster on the bench.

We used to use a belt when visiting at my parents' because they had an highchair long before straps were common. Just remember to do the buckle at the back of the chair so the kid can't undo it. (And, yes, I'd recommend packing an extra belt to leave in your diaper bag or daypack to avoid those wardrobe malfunctions!)

Enjoy your vacation!

I believe they are the molded plastic ones that do not have a belt.

1) They are just a chunk of plastic . . . no belt.
2) Kids who use them usually don't need a belt.
3) So, WDW goes with the majority of use.
4) If you need a belt, bring a small bungie cord or something.

Think the problem has been solved, after a bit of jiggling and wiggling (and one or two minor curse words) we found we can detach the belt from our booster seat at home.

So I can just bring that and as it familiar he'll feel more comfortable.

Thank you all so much for the help.

Yay with that and a full loaded Ipad, I might have bought us enough time for us to all eat our meals and the same time and while it's still warm lol

Be aware that there is likely no where to attach the belt on the seat itself.

Thanks @Gracie09 but think he might be a bit big for that

As for the belt I would just to hook round the chair to keep him in place.

The belt on it own is probably not really that useful as he could wriggle out. I'm hoping as it's on his chair at home he will just think it's the same set up and remain seated longer than he would with no belt (Fingers crossed).

As getting him to seat and eat is a bit of a problem, it is slowly getting better, but don't think we'll be there by the time we go.

What about either keeping him in a stroller to eat, or using a backpack style harness. With the harness, it would probably be best to just put it on before eating so it's like the strap on the booster, a signal to stay at the table longer. You could take turns holding the tail so he could move around in his seat, but not bolt.

One thing that we do is have two choices already picked out of what we want to eat. That way we streamline the dining experience. It has only backfired once when the lavender chicken had been taken off the menu. We actually look at the menus while we are waiting for rides. This may not work for your son but it might help for the rest of the family. Pixie Dust that it is an amazing trip.

@TheRustyScupper that thought has crossed my mind before lol :rotfl2:

@SMD great idea and will be keeping him in the stroller at QS.

@Bearshouse will definitely have a plan, and luckily it's only for the few occasions we're at full service restaurants. Don't have that many booked for the reasons above only Ohana, Cali-Grill and BOG to worry about over a 2 week trip, (oh and the coral reef but as I said before if I can get him right by the tank he's not moving for anybody).

Have some character buffet booked as well, but as they actively encourage getting up and moving about not as stressed about these.
