Remy’s single rider line is problematic and inefficient

I've been solo on any kind of coaster ride. No one else in my group wants to ride. 7DMT, Slinky Dog, Everest, and Guardians. All of those I have been on with strangers. I laugh because it is awkward, but I want to ride.

EE is normal to have all seats filled (especially as it has a designated single rider line)

We are a family of 5, so we often have a single rider join us. We had a particularly nice experience on our last trip over NYE 2025. It was our families first time riding Tron. Our oldest is 12 and was confident in riding with a stranger the first time, especially since one of our twins is disabled and requires assistance from a parent to board properly, and the other was terrified. Well, after getting a look at the ride right before boarding, the 12-year-old started to get a little scared, too. 😆The boarding process there is done so quickly and we were both focused on the twin we were riding with - there was a family of three boarding ahead of us, and my son was paired with the Mom. The family had ridden before, and she was so incredibly kind helping him get situated and hyping him up. We all ended up loving it, and I thanked them afterwards. 🥰

I've done Remy as a SR, and the couple I was paired with was a little surprised.

Some rides like 7DMT and SDD don't have SR lines, but in the queue, they have displays that say all seats will be filled & odd parties will be joined with other parties.

I don't remember seeing any similar information while in the standby line for Remy. Perhaps if they add that in the queue somewhere, and clearly state 3 people per row, people would expect to be joined by SR guests and give fewer dirty looks.

There is a video screen that explains it. It shows how to keep your party together, that kids must ride with someone over 14 and that you need to take your backpack off. It says all seats will be filled and shows two rats jumping into the seat next to another rat and all of them saying hello or bonjour to each other.

I'm looking forward to trying the single rider lane for Remy. I travel solo and love those lines. I was on Frozen Ever After on my last trip, I waited in the regular line, maybe LL I can't recall. There were 3 full grown 20 somethings in front of me in line, and they squeezed all 4 of us in the front row. I have the ride photo, and I look miserable. I was a bit larger of a fellow back then, and these people knew each other and were animated the whole time. It was not fun but the point is that this stuff happens regardless of the line we wait in. I'm usually lucky at DLR with Pirates, where I get my own row, but it is always a crapshoot.

I dislike that Smugglers Run always puts me in the same role as a single rider. I've only ever been the engineer in the back.

Wow. I remember when they used to give every party their own row on Frozen.

Is this new since last September that they’re squeezing people into rows of FEA and others? 😬
It must be CM dependent. My dd and I went a few weeks ago and had a row to ourselves on all boat rides. I think it's totally reasonable to ask to wait for the next boat in a situation such as OP and explain politely that you don't want to be scrunched in a row of strangers.

I also wonder if having mobility issues plays a role? My mom uses a scooter and I ended up using one as well due to an injury. We didn’t share with anyone else.

I don’t mind getting sat next to single riders on most rides, but I wouldn’t like it at all on remy. I honestly don’t think there would be enough room without us all being squished together. I hope they take size into consideration. We aren’t huge by any means, but we are bigger both weight and height wise.

Even when we ride pirates, small world, and frozen the four of us ask for two rows. We can fit in one row, but why be uncomfortable? I get Disney wants to maximize seats and get more people in quicker, but at the same time you need to keep it enjoyable for everyone.

The only time I really hated having a single rider was one time on 7d. Only three of us rode so I was next to a single. He was also a little bigger and we were trying not to but were touching but whatever. However he smelled horribly. It was stomach turning and thankfully it’s such a short ride.

One time on text track I felt bad because we didn’t let a single ride on but it wasn’t intentional at all. Just two of us rode and when we got on my nephew sat in the middle and I sat on the end. After getting buckled in I realized there was a lady trying to get in but I’d forgotten they do single rider. I’m sure she thought I was being rude (once I realized I avoided eye contact which probably made it worse), but it was actually just a brain fog moment.

I've noticed the implementation has been hit or miss. I've used Remy's single rider line a few times now. Most of them worked like you'd imagine, where I was sat with a group of 2 in one row. But one time I went, they put 6 single riders on one rat while leaving empty seats the rest of the time. Another ride, I ended up with my own row while a group of 2 sat in the other.

Guardians Cosmic Rewind is another example of the even and odd group pairing, meaning any odd number groups will have one person sharing a row. I think this is ideal for rides with rows of 2, while single rider lines work better for 3 or larger. Of course, either of these systems depend on the grouper being properly trained. On the instances where the Remy single rider line was off, it seemed like they were cast members floated there from other positions. You usually don't need ride-specific training to work positions like merge, grouper, or entrance.

I regularly ride radiator springs racer and always do single rider. Obviously I’m sat with 2 other people but it’s never been an issue. I can’t recall the Remy seats but I think I would be ok sat next to one other person.

SR on Tiana’s at Disneyland last month got me a spot in the very back. Luckily I don’t get too wet but much like the Matterhorn sitting in tandom with a stranger can be awkward. I know WDW is side by side for Tiana’s but space mountain is tandem and I waited in the normal line and had to straddle a stranger.

I think overall I’m willing to deal with any and all of that for single rider lines. As I described above, my frozen experience in a regular line was subpar and unacceptable in my opinion. If I do the time in line I feel like I’m entitled to a comfy experience. If I take option B for single rider and I’m forced to skip pre shows or straddle some one, it’s ok. Within reason, obviously.

I don't like the single rider line on Remy. We were a party of 2 and waited 45 minutes to get stuck next to a stranger from the single rider line on a bench seat. I don't have a problem if the seats are divided, but you shouldn't have to be touching a stranger on a bench seat during your ride. Remy moves quite a bit and I feel it's awkward and uncomfortable.

I’m sure you could express your concerns to a CM but is just part of the game and keeps everything moving along nicely. If that same single person waited in the standby line with other single who were sat alone I imagine the overall line would be a lot longer.

Yes, that's a good point about the awkwardness of 3 people on the bench and the amount of movement. When I ride Remy as a SR, I try my best to keep my own space, but I can't help but feel a little awkward. Some rides have seat specific lapbars or restraints or seatbelts that double both for safety and reducing awkwardness. Most other bench seat rides either don't have much motion (PotC, FEA, IASW) or they don't join separate parties (BTMRR, Pooh, Dumbo, TSM).

They built Remy with a SR line from the beginning, but they waited years before opening it up for SRs. I'm not sure what's the proper way of maximizing the number of riders vs. improving the experience of guests. But at the moment, the bean counters are winning as they're trying to maximize the number of riders.

And how much longer would the wait time be if there weren't a SR line? There are tradeoffs with or without SRs.

I've absolutely been seated with a stranger on BTMRR... only in WDW though FWIW. It was as awkward as you imagine!
